Psalm1: I think we are reminded the righeous will succeed because in our everyday lives we need this as an encouragement. Life is not always lived on the mountian top, we don't live in an ideal world, and there are many times when we just need an attitude adjustment: The battle is won for us, we are the Victors in Christ. First Psalm sets the theme for the rest of the Psalms. Verse 3 stands out for me in this Psalm. I think because of the imagery of the tree firmly planted by streams water. When we are deeply rooted in our faith we are blessed, healthy (spiritually) and fruitful. This is the goal we aspire to as Christians.
