  1. This verse teaches us that our faith is all about our relationship with a real person who we are waiting to return to take us home. Many churches do not teach about the danger of wrath because it scares people. This is a sobering thought since Christianity is not a rejectable option for anyone that doesn't want to experience the wrath of God. Every person who is born again and going to heaven is doing so because he or she has been saved and delivered from the wrath of God
  2. Imitation is extremely important to a new christian because the old lifestyle is so contradictive to the new lifestyle. It is important to see examples of how to react to conflict and persecution with love, how to be full of joy, and many other things that can only be experienced by observing a person's character. All ministry is cheapened by poor character which is a result of people getting into the flesh. It is important for all believers, both young and old in the faith, to be a consistent part of a church because the influence of the world is strong and we always need to practice imitating Christ and being around others we can look up to and learn from.
  3. The Holy Spirit is important to effective ministry because the Holy Spirit convicts the heart of the listener. If we only have will power in our ministry, there is no supernatural conviction in our words. It is only empty argument. Miracles are also important in evangelism because it is evidence that the Gospel being preached is real. Miracles are not as common today as they were in the early church because in our modern-day culture, people have become dependent on advancements in science, conveniences and technology. Miracles are more common in smaller countries where the Gospel is preached because people are less dependent on man-made solutions to common problems.
  4. Q1. (Acts 17:1-10) Why do you think there was so much strong opposition to Paul's ministry in Thessalonica? Why do you think Paul keeps preaching the gospel, even though there is often a violent reaction against him? Does a violent reaction to our ministry necessarily mean we should stop? Jealousy and a conflict of interest. They felt threatened by Jesus as He is revered as a King and they consider Caesar to be King. There is evident power and miraculous life-changing elements in the Gospel of Jesus and it left the Jewish leaders looking like powerless and hypocritical fools, not to mention the loss of the new christian converts from their community would cause social and financial devastation. This is one of the first group of christians and that must have been a real encouragement for Paul to see, especially since it is not what you would expect to see come about with that kind of persecution. Paul had the example of Jesus and a great deal came out of His suffering and persecution, so I'm sure he expected opposition. The truth usually hurts, so if there is no opposition to our ministry, I would first question if we are watering down the truth to avoid personal conflict. We need to always show love so that we are not the ones doing the provoking out of our own flesh.
  5. My name is Joel. I live in TN and I was recommended to this Bible study by the assistant pastor of my church. I wanted some accountability and solid direction in discovering and reflecting God's Word. So far I am extremely excited and in complete agreement with everything I have seen!
