  1. I believe that Abraham whole heartedly trusted in his God. So he was willing to do whatever God asked him to do. He did not know what would happen but he obeyed. My favourite part of this story is that you can read Abraham's answer to Isaac in two ways. He says "God will provide himself a lamb" as in God will provide and then prophetically Abraham says "God will provide HIMSELF, a lamb" which He did thousands of years later in the giving of His Son.
  2. What is the significance of the confession "Jesus is Lord"? Why is this necessary for salvation, according to Romans 10:9? As a Hebrew Christian this is of special significance to me. It was necessary for me to acknowledge that Jesus truly is the Son of God or as it says in our lesson "Jesus is Yahweh, God himself". Once ""I gave in, and admitted that God was God", like C.S. Lewis, the truth of salvation became clear. I then was able to accept Him as the atonement for my sin.
  3. In Romans 13:1 we read "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." God, who is over all and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, puts into power those who rule. We may not think that the person who is Prime Minister/Premier/President/Leader of a place is the right one, but God has His purposes for allowing these men and women to rule. As Christians it is our responsibility to pray for those in power.
  4. Q1. (Isaiah 6:1-8) How does a realization of God's holiness affect Isaiah? Why is Isaiah afraid? How does God make Isaiah holy? What is the symbolism of the coal from the altar? Now made holy -- dedicated to God -- how does Isaiah respond to God? "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God". Isaiah realized when in God's presence his own ungodliness. He thought he would die because God cannot have sin in His presence. But God cleansed him, and the coal was the symbol of that cleansing.Once dedicated to God, Isaiah gave himself to Him. In the song Offering by Third Day it says This is my offering, dear Lord This is my offering to You, God And I will give You my life For it
  5. What does the idea of "first" and "last" tell you about God? How does Revelation 1:8 relate to God's revelation to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM"? God is eternal and there is no beginning nor end to Him. It is like a ring of gold. Our God, who knows the end from the beginning, is and was and always will be. God. Rev 1:8 is saying the same thing as God's revelation to Moses. He is eternal and unchanging and while we may not be able to comprehend that with our finite minds there will soon be a day when it will all make sense to us. And oh what a day that will be.
  6. It is beyond comprehension what it will be like to see our Saviour face to face. I think that to inhabit eternity is going to be so wonderful because it will never end and we will be in His presence. When I hear the song "I Can Only Imagine" it invokes in me a overwhelming desire to be Home and also a sense of worship. "Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all I can only imagine"
  7. As we will find in the New Testament "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow", God is God from eternity past and never will change. He knows the end from the beginning and is holy. Idols are transient and will change and are not all powerful. Even the name I AM causes man to bow the knee to the Eternal God.
  8. Jesus had to drink the "bitter cup" to it's last dregs. If Christ had not died and risen again, our faith would be in vain. Jesus willingly went to the cross and while the angels watched he allowed men to kill Him. When, in a coming day, Christ comes with His heavenly host it will be with wrath--God's wrath to deal with sin. How blessed we are to have trusted Him, when alone without His angel armies, He bore our sin at Calvary. Those who have not will bear God's wrath.
  9. Later in this same book of Joshua, Joshua himself says "choose you this day whom you will serve". He had learned that Our God is the Commander in Chief not only of Angel armies but of all the earth and that by choosing to serve Him, he could be assured of God's presence with him, no matter the circumstance
  10. My God is an Awesome God. He causes me to bow down and worship for in His presence I can do nothing else. I love the Lord my God and want to sing his praises from the mountain tops.
  11. Both Abraham and Melchizedek believed that the God they believed in was He who could say "I am God, and there is none else"
  12. This brings to mind what Thomas said when he came to the realization that Jesus had indeed risen from the dead--'my Lord and my God' Surely the high and lofty one that inhabits eternity is worthy of all praise and exultation. "What is man that thou art mindful of him?"
  13. My name is Deborah and I am a Hebrew Christian. God saved me 32 years ago and not a day goes by that I am not thankful that He did. It is a privilege to be one of God's chosen people and redeemed by Sovereign grace. I am married with 5 mostly grown children and I work in the health care field. I am really looking forward to this online Bible study.
