  1. Of course she was blessed by Grace. How wonderful that now we all are! Elizabeth was letting Mary know that since she was picked by God, she was in fact "blessed." This is a great forshadowing of our being blessed, in accepting Christ as our redeemer. As far as saying the Mother of God, it is true, she was tasked with bearing our Lord into the world. We must be careful to remember the context of Elizabeths prayer statement, she was exhaulting the coming of Jesus into the world, and exhaulting the fact Mary was chosen by the Lord to bring make the Word flesh.
  2. Also, there will be perilous times to come for all christiandom. The roman persecution, the end times where we will be persecuted for submitting to God through Jesus Christ. This lends us a great example (like many in the bible) of how we know it will be a dangerous trek, but the end of the trek is everlasting life...take the blessing and RUN WITH IT!
  3. When the Lord comes to us, as he has in different ways, we are to exhault and praise it. We, as Christians, have a great example of acceptance here. The event is a foreshadowing of our experience in acceptance of Christ, as Mary accepted her role sith dignity and respect.
  4. It shows us simply that God the Father, God the holy Spirit and God the Son (Trinity) are at work. Of course Jesus was to become man, the Great Redeemer, to provide the only pathway back to God. Fulfilling gods word as well.
  5. Mary never denied the possibility, she wanted Gabriel to know that she was not with a man at that time. Zeccariah put Gabriel to the test, a no no as we see later in Jesus Ministry and during parts of the Old testament.
  6. Gabriel revealed what the scriptures had foretold, of the coming of the one who would set up his (God's) kingdom to last forever.
