Mary most definitely was blessed! She was honored above all other women as the one chosen to give birth to the Lord. No, she wasn't divine, but she should be held above all others because she WAS the way that Jesus became flesh and entered our world. I think that we are afraid that somehow some religions hold Mary as equal to the Lord, when I don't believe this to be the case. Mary is asked to intervene on behalf of individuals, not to answer prayers directly!

Mary totally accepted this without question. She had to have had doubts in the back of her head, but answered instead with the faith of her heart. Man, if only we could accept the will of the Lord in the same manner in our lives! As far as informed consent....how differently would things have gone if she had answered, "Wait a minute! No one asked me!!" She is a great example of faith for us because she didn't answer this way. We often don't respond in the same way of consent though. We ask for explanations, we give God suggestions, we do everything BUT what Mary did!

This shows us that nothing is impossible for God....NOTHING, including conceiving a child without any physical contact! The virgin birth shows us that God is without the sin that comes with being human, along with the flaws....Jesus is flawless and sinless.

Mary asks how can this be possible, whereas Zechariah asks how can I be SURE

He shall be called Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. He will be given the throne of his father David and will reign in the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end.
