  1. Q2. (Colossians 1:26-27) What is the mystery that Paul talks about? In what sense was,
  2. Q4. Why is repentance so central to the Kingdom of God? Why is baptism important to converts to the King? Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart? God can not be around sin. We as ourselves are sinful creatures. Until we recognize that and honestly and truthfully turn away from sin, not just by words but by actions and deeds also we can not be close to the Lord. Baptism is the outward confession of our giving our lives to Jesus. It is telling the world that we have accepted the Lord as our Saviour. Although it is not part of salvation it is a command the Lord left with us and as His disciples would should have a desire to follow whatever He has told us to do. If we do not let sin go and at times it is not an easy thing to do the Lord can not reign in our hearts. We have been told that one person can not have two masters. It is up to us to pick whether sin is to rule our lives or if the Lord is our Ruler.
  3. Q1. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repenting of their known sins? Why do people avoid repentance? What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart? When we say we are Christian without repentance we first are lying to ourselves. Others also see the lies we are living and it hurts our main way of showing the love of Christ. We avoid repentance first because it means we have to admit to sins which we believe we can keep hidden or those sins which we enjoy and are afraid of letting go of. I believe many sins give to us a comfort and a feeling of self-worth, all of which are lies from our enemy which keep us from true communion with the Lord. It is very hard to look closely at yourself and see what sinful and dirty creatures we really are. It is hard to let go of the thinking that we can do this by ourselves. I have a hard enough time working on my own repentance but do know that one thing I have to continuously have to work on is judging of others. I believe a large percentage of believers are unrepentant...adding myself at times in this equation. True repentance is hard and without it our walk with God will be at risk.
  4. Q3. (Colossians 1:12-13) Why does Paul use the terms darkness and light to portray his readers past and future? Why does he remind them where they came from? What is
  5. I am so excited to see all the new faces here. I introduced myself way back at the beginning and have done a few of these studies either by myself or with my children as family studies. One word of advice I know life can get busy and at times you may find yourself falling behind but dont give up. There are many times that I finished the study weeks or even months after it was suppose to be finished but whether or not it was on time God still spoke to me through the Word. Blessings to all of you
  6. Q1. (Colossians 1:5-6) Paul glorifies the gospel, the good news. What words does he use to describe the action of the gospel in verses 5 and 6? Given the temptation the recipients have to adopt another religious philosophy, why do you think he reminds them of the world scope of the gospel
  7. Good morning...so glad to be here to start a new study. I have done a few here and find them helpful in growing in the Lord I live southern florida in the United States but am from Ontario Canada. Have to admit love the warm here. I am a mother of 9 and expecting my 10th grandchild this May. The Lord has blessed me in both the good and bad times. May this study be a blessing to all of us.
  8. Q5. Why should Christians look forward to the events surrounding our resurrection? Why do you think Christians have largely lost this as their active expectation and hope? What should be done to reclaim these truths? As we see the end times coming closer and closer we need to hold dear in our hearts the knowledge that our hope is real. These times of war and hate and fear and evil will end and then for all eternity the Lord will be reigning openly and lovingly in our lives. I think that pastors have given away the yearning to preach on the resurrection and focus on the here and now...how to be good now. Many people dont even realize what exactly is our hope in the resurrection. Many do not even believe in it anymore. We need to shout from the rooftops on the promises that were given to us. We need to know what Jesus Himself said about this so we can tell others and we need to hold our Pastors accountable for what they preach and if they preach untruths or semi-truths face them with this.
  9. Q4. What will our resurrection bodies be like? Why do you think we will be given resurrection bodies? What is the point? I have thought long and hard about this and I know that what I imagine will probably never even come close to what is the truth. To be honest I have no idea. I know some of the characteristics of the body but not sure how it will be arranged. Jesus looked like himself so I dont see us as some kind of "alien". I believe that we will have resurrection bodies as we will still enjoy the physical part of life...eating drinking touching and on and on. We will have jobs to carry out and our bodies will help us in this area. We are not just going to be a mist ... ghosts forever floating around. We will still be people living a life...a perfect life.
  10. Q3. What does the phrase "redemption of our bodies"(Romans 8:23-24) tell us about our resurrection? What words in 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 describe our resurrection bodies? Rom 8:23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Rom 8:24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? We are waiting knoning that the bodies of the saints will be delivered from that mortality, corruption, weakness, and dishonour, under which they lie in the grave; when they will be refined and spiritualized, and freed from everything which makes them an incumbrance. 1Co 15:42 This is how it will be when the dead are raised to life. When the body is buried, it is mortal; when raised, it will be immortal. 1Co 15:43 When buried, it is ugly and weak; when raised, it will be beautiful and strong. 1Co 15:44 When buried, it is a physical body; when raised, it will be a spiritual body. There is, of course, a physical body, so there has to be a spiritual body. Our body when resurrected will not die...it will be immortal, therefore we know we will not face sickness or disease or any of the other things that can kill us. We know that we will be a thing of beauty and strong. We know that even though it will have physical atributes it will be a spiritual body.
  11. Q2. (Philippians 1:23-24; 2 Corinthians 5:8) According to these verses, where will Christians be immediately after death? Where do we await the resurrection? Php 1:23 I am pulled in two directions. I want very much to leave this life and be with Christ, which is a far better thing; Php 1:24 but for your sake it is much more important that I remain alive. 2Co 5:8 We are full of courage and would much prefer to leave our home in the body and be at home with the Lord. When we die we leave here and go home to be with the Lord. This is where we will wait for the resurrection.
