  1. I would have to say Luke 22:37. Jesus had already told the disciples what was to come yet they didn't understand. Here Jesus make it quite clear that He has to fulfill the scriptures. Luk 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. (KJV)
  2. Most of us, unless we were raised in the church and accepted Jesus at an early age bave committed sins, that, under Jewish laws would have demanded floggings and public humiliation. not to mention death. Jesus took all of this on in our place.
  3. God can not be in the presence of sin. but, wanting a communion with us sent his son to be a sacrifice for us. Jesus told his disciples that he came to serve. He was a servant to God and to man. when he died on the cross it took our sins. He substituted his lif for ours.
  4. Mat 26:28 "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. " In this passage Jesus didn't say Which might be shed, he said "which is shed..." this indicates that he knew his blood would be shed. Set in stone, as he would have been considered a false teacher if he had gone on to die a death of natural causes.
  5. Q1. From how large a group of people does God remove sins in Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12? In what sense is this a universal sacrifice of salvation? In what sense is Jesus' sacrifice wasted on some people? God wants to remove sins from all people. Jesus was sacrificed for everyone. Joh 3:16 However, there are those who refuse to accept Jesus as the only way, believe that 'if they're a good person' or just plain don't want anything to do with God who this sacrifice will be wasted on.
  6. I beleive that Gods intent was to show us that sin had a cost, the finest of the flock. It shows the Holines of God by showing that we cannot enter his presence until we have been forgiven. He cannot allow the sins in his presence. By giving us a way to redeem ourselves he shows that he is loving and merciful.
  7. First, It MUST be a female of the flock. It must be without blemish. YOU must place your hand on it's head. I believe this is symbolic of accepting that this is YOUR sin (confessing). It must be done with a priest at the spot where the burnt offering is slaughtered, in like way We must go to the Cross (an alter). It does no good to confess our sin to the world, we must go to God through Jesus. The Priest then take the blood, puts some on the alter as no doubt Jesus' blood was on the Cross. The rest of the blood gets poured onto the ground at the alter. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus we only have to Come to God through Jesus, confess our sins and repent.
  8. As stated in the lesson, People today, at least those that have never been in a farm life, take meat for granted. They never even think of it as having been a living animal. also, not having been raised with sacrifice they find it brutal. In the days of Jesus it was just a part of life. People were raised with the understanding that that is what they had to do.
  9. Anger is a tricky thing. We should be angry about sin because it is a rebellion against God. But, we also have to look at the situation of the sinner. Does this person have a knowlage that he is sinning? If the sinner was raised by parents that have taught him that it is O.K. , Then we need to lovingly let the person know that it is against God. We also have to ask ourselves 'am I angry because it is sin or am I angry because "I" don't like it. The bible tells us to sin not in our anger. So how we respond it anger is very important. We could respond in such a way that the person knows that we are concerned about their soul, or we could respond in a way that may turn a sinner off from ever wanting to know what God is about.
  10. It's interesting that this is the first question of this lesson. A few years ago the cover of TIME magazine caught my eye. It was shortly after Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion Of The Christ" came out. The Cover Story was intitled "Why Did Jesus Have To Die?" The story was about an interdenominational mens bible study group who were sitting around discussing this fore-mentioned question. Finishing the article it saddened me that in the three pages the article took up that the question was not answered. The answer to that question and the question "How do we know John was refering to the Lamb Of God as a sacrifice is the same. God has always required a BLOOD sacrifice for the attonment of sin. As for the second part of the question, The only ones that were able to receive attonment were the Hebrew people. As it was to the Hebrews that the Laws were given and everyone else were gentiles, therefore, only the children of Abraham were considered worthy of forgiveness of their sins. So the thought of Jesus, The Lamb Of God, coming to take the sins of the WORLD would have been incomprehensible to a Jew.
