  1. God is exalted above all the earth - there is no one higher than He. Therefore I must only worship Him, no one nor anything else. I need to be humble before Him, be cleansed of sin when I praise anmd worship Him and have the utmost reverance for Him.
  2. Most High means that God is the creator of everything. He is also the only true God and is exalted above everything and He should be the only One to whom worship is given. When I worship, I will have a clearer understanding of who God is, how wonderful He is and how unique He is.
  3. They both worshipped and recognised God as the Creator of heaven and earth and as God most high.
  4. Abraham was an act of worship as Mechizadek represents the most high God. We need to tithe today because it shows that we trust God and revere Him more than the material things of the world. When we tithe to God first, we are giving Him the first fruits and we are elevating Him above everything in our lives. It also shows we are trusting Him to continue to bless us and provide for us.
  5. Abraham was loyal, loving and a man of steely determination. He was well liked and held an important position which was carried over to his family, etc because his faith in God was an example for them to follow
  6. God chooses how \he will bless us. God blesses us in material things as well as health. Physical poverty doesn't reflect God's curse because Jesus was not rich
  7. God chooses how \he will bless us. God blesses us in material things as well as health. Physical poverty doesn't reflect God's curse because Jesus was not rich
  8. He could be killed by the king. He prays the prayer of a quick arrow that seeks its target and lodges there to achieve its purpose, in this case, to set God's people free. It was a continuation of the prayers he had been praying for months earlier. It was the final arrow to strike the mercy of the kings' heart.
  9. Their positions meant that they could have been killed for their beliefs, fasting and petitions. Yet both were in their positions "for such a time as this" because of the |God in whim they believed would bring them through for His glory and purpose for the sufferings of His children. God, likewise, places His people in situations or positions where they are needed, and if the individual believer responds to God's calling, many miracles can be achieved through the release of faith. We are all where we are because God designed this for our lives before we were born, (Psalm 139) If we are sensitive to God's Holy Spirit, we will be used by God for the purpose He wants to achieve through us. If we neglect His calling, His purpose can be thwarted.
  10. He reminded God that God had said that He would scatter the people if they disobeyed Him but He would then gather them to Himself if they turned to Him in confession of their sins. He sees that God is a God of His Word and that He is faithful and just., so he comes to God with this as his basis of appeal. Intercession is about standing in the gap for those who have a need and if it means that you have to fast as well, then this must be done.
  11. He needed to hear from God and when he fasted, he was allowing his spirit to be subject over his body so that his mind was totally focussed on his need and on God. It was not excessive. I don't believe intercession is excessive because God allows us to bear what we can bear and the need was greater than his need for food, comfort, etc
  12. Daniel wants God to forgive His children and to restore them to Him again. It was for God's mercy as to when He delivered His children before.
  13. Daniel realises that he is a sinner himself, though he is a righteous man, and also that he needs to confess his sins so that he can stand before God in intercession, just as Christ took the sins of the world upon His shoulders. Jesus was innocent yet He took the sins of the world upon Himself.
  14. Daniel came before God in sackcloth and ashes as a sign of his humility and intercession for the Israelites. He prays, pleads, petitions, confesses the sins Of the Israelites and fasts as well as reading the Word. Sometimes certain prayer gets answered after praying and fasting and humbling oneself before God, because the body is under subjection to the Spirit. We can prepare for intercession by first of all making sure that we have confessed our sins, Then we must read and meditate on God's Word. We also need to fast and have a genuine concern for that which we are praying.
  15. He knew that the time of the exiles of the Israelites was near the end. He wanted God's forgiveness for these people so that they could be restored to Him again. Daniel was a man of prayer, constantly communing with God, therefore walking close with Him and He wanted to bring reconciliation with the Israelites and God once more.
  16. It is difficult to pray a prayer of surrender because it means exposing ourselves more to what God expects of us, rather than what we feel comfortable doing. We may have to go and apologise to someone, confess a sin to someone we may have cheated, etc so our pride is at stake. We also feel more vulnerable when we surrender. We know that God expects more from us so we have to work hard at our salvation. I prayed this prayer a long time ago and I did feel as I've explained above. I also felt afraid that what I had prayed, God would send tests as well. It has taken many years and I'm still learning, but I've learned that if I truly want a mind of Christ I do need to prayer a prayer of surrender every now and again. If we don't totally submit everything we are, everything we own, then we are are only lukewarm disciples.
  17. I have often been brought close to tears when I read this psalm because my birth was no accident. I was meant to be born and God was there even before I came into being, having prepared my ways for me and recorded in a book my life ahead of me. His tender love, the way He brought this body that is so intricately designed into being and then still being there for me to this day, fills me with great joy and love. Pregnant women instinctively hold a hand over their stomachs if stress or danger confronts them....they are focussing on their un born child first and foremost and this shows deep love and an expectant joy at their child's imminent birth. A young father to be becomes more goal orientated as to how the child's life will be taken care of and provided for, so he makes sure that he brings in the money and keeps a roof over their heads. He is proud and happy . We are overwhelmed that God's involvement in our lives is so detailed and so permanent because we often think we are not worth such love.
  18. God's hand on David was firm yet gentle and loving. David felt secure and safe in his Father's care. God's hand is a guiding hand and steers us from danger and leads us along the right path. God reached out His hand to me and touched me not only when I felt sad and depressed, but also when I was rejoicing in Him as my Saviour. When God touched me to keep me away from the paths of sin, sometimes I rebelled and felt frustrated and angry. But I came to realise that it was for my good. That changed my attitude from complaining to thanksgiving and rejoicing
  19. We sometimes want to flee from God because there is nothing we can hide from Him, there is nothing to shield His eyes from our thoughts and even when we sleep, He knows our dreams. This may cause us to feel uncomfortable because we are sinful by nature and we are not always pure under His scrutiny. People think God doesn't know what they do because they often forget about Him whilst He is constantly thinking about us. Out of sight and out of mind for us. No I have always known that I cannot hide or run from God.
  20. The basis of his prayer was that he had led a righteous life. Personal righteousness and holiness is important because God honours the righteous and he rewards the faithful. So our prayers become a priority in God's eyes. Unrighteousness hinders answered prayer because any sin is a stumbling block to answered prayer. God says thatwe need to live a holy life before He answers our prayers.
  21. It was necessary that Hezekiah was healed because he needed to produce an heir to continue to run the land in the same way that he did, which was Godly and which pleased God as well. God's promise to David was that his line of rulership as king would not be broken and also because the Messiah would come from the same line
  22. The first 2 sentences of Hezekiah's prayer correspond with the Lord's prayer because the words are similar in meaning..."Our Father, who art in heaven" They are important to faith because when we pray to God we are believing that |He is the only one, true God. They are important to God answering prayer because God is moved by our faith and because He is pleased that we say to Him, "Lord, the battle is not mine, it is yours."
  23. He wanted to express his anger that it was God's people who would be attacked and it was against God because there were so many idol worshippers and this was the insult he hated. He felt nothing for himself but for how the enemy perceived God's people. The underlying principle is "The battle is not ours but God's" When we try to fight our own battles, we always fall short because we have put our trust in ourselves rather than in God.
  24. When we gladly give our tithes, our time, our talents, we find it easy to praise God constantly because our motives are genuine. If we are possessive of what we have, we find it difficult of tithe because we feel we earned our money so we don't want to part with it. It is an attitude of pride and selfishness as well as sin. All our possessions belong to God because it is only He who gives us the ability to get what we now have. It is not earned solely on our own merits as we may think. The possessions we have are temporary. We cannot take them with us when we die. We should remember that everything belongs to God. We will then find it easier to share with others what we have and also to gibve our tithing willingly and cheerfully.
  25. When I mention God's greatness in my prayers, I speak about His power, His majesty, His rulership, His unchanging attributes in a constantly changing world. The power and the glory. One of my favourite choruses is "Majesty"
