  1. Q5. (Matthew 5:8) Why can people with a pure heart see, know, and discern God? Why can't "chronic" sinners see God? How do we obtain the pure or clean heart that Jesus describes? The people with a pure heart see, know, and discern God because their focus is not on the world but on God and they know that their reward is in heaven. Chronic sinners can see God because when we sin we need to humble ourselves and repent to change our direction in life so He can forgive us in order for us to obtain clean heart. In Christ, Reese
  2. Q4. (Matthew 5:6) How can an intense desire for righteousness put you at odds with the world? What sort of righteousness is Jesus talking about, do you think? What promise are we given in this Beatitude? An intense desire for righteousness put people of God at odds with the world because they are not righteous. This rigteousness Jesus is talking about doesn't come from man but by the word of God. The bible tells us that man cannot live by bread along but by the word of God. This is spiritual food and drink for the righteous. For the people that hunger and thrist for His word, our reward is that we shall see God. In Christ Reese,
  3. Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness? Gentleness contrast with the world's ideal because the world thinks people who are gentle are week, passave and not leaders. From God's prepective, He can't use us unless we know that He is the one that uses us for Kingdom building. So if we are so high and think we are all that, we can't recieve what he wants to gives us or do what he wants us to do. In order to follow Him, we must humble ourselves and be obediant serrvants just like His son Jesus. So we can serve people that don;t know Him. In Christ Reese
  4. Q3. (Matthew 5:5) How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness? In contrast with the world Christians are the opposite of what people of the world stand for, for example, they like to be recognized for whatever or whenever they do something good or outstanding. A Christian or child of God respond to whomever or whatever the crisis maybe and they do not boast and take the credit for what they have done. Humility was taught to the disciples by Jesus and He also demonstrated how we should respond to the world. In order to be Christlikenss, we must follow Jesus precepts. Praise the Lord!!! In Christ, Reese
  5. Q2. (Matthew 5:3-4) Why is it necessary to be aware of your spiritual poverty before you can become a Christian? What kind of mourning is necessary for a person to become a Christian? What kind of mourning is a common experience of Christians? (See Isaiah 61:2-3; Ezekiel 9:4.) It is necessary to be aware of you spiritual poverty before you can become a Christian because spiritual stuff, which is holy, is not given to us through worldly people but through God who is Holy. So you have to believe in Him and know that He is Lord over all and in all. A common morning Christians concern themselves with people who don
  6. Q1. (Matthew 5:3-11) Each Beatitude consists of two parts. What are these parts? Why do you think Jesus made each Beatitude a paradox? What is the relationship of the Beatitudes to the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)? The first part is the blessings/praises and second part is the heavenly rewards Christian have to look forward to when we follow Jesus and do the work. Jesus made the Beatitudes paradox so the disciples would understand the difference between the world and spiritual things. The relationship between the Beatitudes and the Fruit of the Spirit is that the Beatitudes are what to expect for non believers and what happens to Christians who do the work of Jesus and the Fruit of the Sprits tells Christians that we've already been blessed and posses these fruits which are Beatitudes rewords when we struggle with God's work. Sorry I'm slow but this lesson is so powerful and it's working in my life as we speak. Praise the Lord!!! In Christ Theresa K.
