  1. Q1. (Psalm 1). This short psalm seems to reaffirm what we already know: the righteous will succeed and the wicked will perish. Why do we need to be reminded of this? From an emotional standpoint, what lines in this psalm stand out to you. Why do you think you like them? In this world where sin runs rapid, I need to be reminded that the wicked may seem to succeed in this world but they will not succeed when judgement day arrives. The tree stands out for me because I know with God as my focal point what I do will prosper.
  2. This week has been tough for me because my whole family has been sick. We are finally on the mend. I have continued to write each psalm and meditate on them. I am also memorizing parts of each psalm. In doing this I feel uplifted and know that God is near.
  3. Q3. (Psalm 63) Why is recognition that God loves you the basis of all faith? What does this realization bring about in your life? In knowing that God loves us, we know that there is someone who cares, even when we feel no one else does. Because of this love we cling to God more by praising him, seeking him and loving him. Knowing God loves me helps me to love myself and others even when it doesn't seem possible.
  4. Q2. (Psalms 42-43). What is the psalmist feeling during this spiritual struggle? How does he combat his spiritual depression? Have you ever felt this way? How did you reach out to God at this time? Depression. By self tlk, by remembering God and what he has done, and by singing and praying. Yes, may times. First I would try to handle the depression on my own - this never worked; then I would try to solve my depression by worldly means - still this did not work. When I started my Bible studies and started reading God's Word I found that I have no room within for depression. God's Word uplifts me. I need to remeber to go to God first instead of last
  5. Q1. (Psalm 27) What does it mean that David desires to "dwell in the house of the Lord"? What does it mean to "seek his face"? How does David provide hope at the end of this Psalm? David wants to be as close to God as possible. He wants to be in God's presence at all times. David wants an intimate relationship with God where he can share his life with God and where God can share his Word with David - A close relationship where nothing is hidden. David remains confident of God's goodness in his life; he just needs to remain strong and WAIT for God.
  6. I have been writing and praying each day on all the psalms in this lesson. I will probably continue to do this through out the study. I find that I feel closer to God when I do this. An added bonus is that now I can quote where some things are actually in the Bible. (I have a hard time of remembering). I feel this is a wonderful exercise for me.
  7. Q3. (Psalm 139). In what way does the wonder of creation in the psalm seem to affect the psalmist? In his concluding prayer in verses 23-24, what does he ask God to do? The psalmist knows God made him and he is amazed that there is no place he can hide from God. Because God knows what he will say and do before he actually does them. The psalmist asks God to search him and test him. to make him aware of anything offensive so that he can correct that offense. He wants God to know his heart, and thoughts and for God to lead him in the way that would be most pleasing to God.
  8. Q2. (Psalm 19) Verses 1 to 6 seem very different from verses 7 to 13, but there is a common thread that relates the first part to the second part. What is it? In what way does the psalmist seem to bask in God's Word? Have you ever felt that way? How does the psalmist's wonder in creation seem to affect him in this psalm? In the classic prayer of verse 14, what is David asking God to do? Verses 1 - 6 deals with how God's Creation proclaims God's glory - unspoken Word of God. Verses 7 - 13 deals with God's written Word By basking in God's Word David is able to be awakened spiritually. We are able to know God not only through His Word but also by looking at His creations. Every time I see a sunset ( or even think about one) I get this warm feeling within just knowing God is near and He does paint a wonderful picture. David asks God to help him to do all things that are pleasing to God either by word or by thought.
  9. This Psalm teaches me that God is majestic. He made all things and beings. He deserves my praise. He cares for me and loves me. This Psalm teaches me that humans were made just a little lower than the angels of heaven. We are to ruled over all of God's other creations. We are like microscopic organisms compared to God's creation. This Psalm teaches me that even though we are so minuscule compared to all of creation, God cared enough to send His Son to live and die as this minuscule creation. Our responsibilities are to be responsible and respectful of all creation. We are to glorify God.
  10. Hi all, I'm a 43 year old homemaker who has recently moved to a rural area in New Albany, MS. I used to live in a close knit military community and had a group of women in my home for Bible study. That is not possible at this time so I have invited them to join me in this Bible study. We still will keep in touch by phone and email. I look forward to studying again with a great group of girls.
