  1. David had personally experienced the saving power of God before his confrontation with Goliath. As a shepherd he had fought off lions and wolves with God
  2. As an English teacher at a Christian school I taught my students that the name of God
  3. This is one of those things about God that I personally have to take on faith. My finite mind cannot wrap itself around the infinite. For God to
  4. His name reveals that He is not only eternal but also current, pertinent and interested in what is happening in the lives of His children. It is the name He gave Himself, whereas the idols of the Egyptians were given names by those who created them.
  5. I think we need to approach life in the knowledge that if we are where God wants us to be and trusting Him He will be there fighting for us. If we are timid, it can look as if we are really not sure of His strength or are ashamed of the Gospel and if we attack things brashly, we put people off and send them away from accepting the kingdom. When we are not in God
  6. It was a rallying point for the people of Israel. As long as it was held aloft it gave them strength to defeat their foes. If it fell they lost hope, possibly thinking that Moses had been taken. We can always look to Him as our strength while facing battles and struggles. We can take to heart Heb 12:2
  7. Jesus did not call on the hosts of heaven while in the Garden because this battle was one that He had to fight on His own. He personally had to defeat Satan. This battle was one on one. In Revelation when the entire host of heaven comes to fight against Satan and his hordes, Jesus comes in victory because this is a battle He already one in His death and resurrection. Satan can
  8. The servant did not know that God was in control. Elisha knew that God would protect him and the servant saw only the enemies surrounding them and Elisha saw the hosts of the Lord surrounding them. It takes the faith of a mustard seed to see that God has ultimate power. (I
  9. The commander said he was not for either because the army of Israel needed to be for him. They needed to do the will of God. We cannot bend God to our wills but have to conform our will to His. I think Joshua before was kind of stumped as to how the Israelites were to defeat this insurmountable foe. After the encounter, he had a battle plan and felt assured that God was truly with him.
  10. I think we get a really good picture of the glory of God when we read about how Moses had to cover his face after seeing God because the
  11. It seems to me that just the title High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity is impossible for humans to comprehend. We cannot fathom infinity, eternity, it is incomprehensible. He is before all the other gods created by men and will outlast them. He always is, was and will be and I cannot wrap my finite mind around that. But I don
  12. Most High should mean that He takes first place in every aspect of my life. My life itself should be worship of Him. But in the act of worhip, I think every aspect should begin with an acknowledgement of His place as Most High. So in prayer, praise should always come first (ie Our Father Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name...), in personal scripture reading begin with acknowledgement of who God is (ie. look for an aspect of who He is in each passage read).
  13. Both men worshiped God Most High as the Creator God and the God over all others whether Melchizedek may have worshiped other gods as well we do not know.
  14. Hello to everyone. My name is LaJuan and I live in Norton, KS USA. We recently moved here from AZ to get our four boys (ages 9, 14, 19, 21) away from an environment that was getting progressively worse. I am a stay-at-home mom and writer ( I just completed my first book - children's stories based on a tour of the Holy Land that my dad leads). I am actually quite shy and living in a small community I have some difficulty meeting people so I am looking for friends on the net while trying to get involved in a church (we haven't found one we really like yet) where we can minister and be ministered to. I have always loved learning and look forward to doing this study. The names of God tell us so much about Him and what better learning than learning about God.
