We would be at odds with the world because the world is the opposite of righteous. it is filled with every vile and evil thing that seperate us from God, causes us to sin. To love and follow God means we are an enemy of the world and vise versa. The righteousness he was speaking of- I think he meant to truly seek be like Christ. to want more and more of Him. To follow his word and his commandments, and to live them out. To never feel you are " there" but always desire more and know you will always be needing to grow and get closer to what he has called us to be. The blessing is that those who seek such things will recieve them, as God gives generously to those who ask and seek after Him!
