  1. Q4. (12:9) What was the significance of Abraham "calling on the name of Yahweh"? He was not just calling any god that would hear, but he was calling Yahweh, the one who apeared, the one who spoke and the one who had led him all that way. He was calling on the god who he had a personal relationship with. Q-What does it mean for you to "call on the name of the Lord"? To me is means that I am calling on the One who hears my prayers and cares for me more than anything or anyone can on this earth. It means that I am seeking to comunicate and fellowship with the one true God, Yahweh. It means I am seeking to be with my God.
  2. Q3. (12:1 with Hebrews 11:8-10) Why does it take special faith to begin to do something in obedience to God before we see how it will turn out? Because as humans we always want to know what the end result will be. In our finite picture of our life we try to guide ourselves to where we think God wants us when we should have faith and just believe in God and allow Him to lead us where He directs... not where we "think" is best. To do this you really have to trust and believe that God truelly does know what is best for you and your family and where he leads you is really the best place for you... even when it doesn't see like it at the time. Q Have you had any of these "opportunities"? Are you in the midst of this adventure now? Yes, and yes. I have always felt that I should teach overseas, and after many years of searching and waiting, God has finally led me and my family overseas. It was not where I "thought" we should go, it has not been what I "thought" it would be, and it has not been fun, enjoyable, or wonderfull by any means. I started wondering why did I come here? But I have found this, the "why?" is to be obediant. Nothing more, nothing less. The Lord lead, and I follow, that is all He asked of me, His reasons are not mine nor does he have to explain Himself to me. So the why is not important to me, now what has come to focus in my life is, how is God becoming more real to me, how can I grow in Him, how can I learn more of Him. He lead me, I followed, Im learning and enjoying not knowing the why.
  3. Q2. (12:2-3) In what ways was Abraham blessed. He was given wealth, he had a personal relationship with God, he was given a son as an heir. Even when he messed up, God's hand was still with him, protecting him and all he owned. Q-How have all the peoples of the earth been blessed? Threw his dessendance the Messiah has come. Threw him Isreal was made, and we have a great example of how God cares, corrects and loves his people. Q-In what way does Abraham continue bless people through your life? Abraham's blessing continues to bless others threw my life in that I can share Christ with them.
  4. Q1.Have you ever begun something in response to God's urging and then stopped? Did God want you to stop? Is it time now to renew your obedience and begin again? In college I was the assistant college minister and had begun to feal led into a full time college minister but I never did. Due to circumstance in the church I choose to step down as the assistant college minister and not pursue becoming a minister of any type. I believe God did want me to stop. I am curently able in my current profession to go into countries a minister would never be allowed. I do not believe that I was disobedient to Gods leading.
