  1. Q3. (1 Timothy 5:19-21) Why was it necessary to make formal accusations and "try" the false teachers? Why were the temptations to compromise and not go through with it so great? Why is it so difficult to exercise church discipline today?

The reason for formal accusations was to get to the bottom of the accusations truthfully and fairly. There was too much favoritism. The Leaders had too much control. I personally feel the reason why it is so difficult to exercise church discipline today is the fact that favoritism is so strong in the church. People who give the most money get away with whatever they want. There are great family ties in some churches. The Pastor of the church founded the church or a family member started the church.

  2. Q1. (1 Timothy 5:1-16) What responsibilities do we have to help aging family members? According to Paul, in what way is this our Christian responsibility? In what way is this a "repayment" of a debt? To what does Paul compare those who refuse this responsibility?

We are showing responsibility to our family members by taking care of their needs and showing them that we thank them for what they have done for us. This is honoring to word of God and obeying His word. If you don

  3. Q2. (1 Timothy 4:3-5) Why is performance of legalistic requirements so attractive to people? What fruit does it produce in a person's life? In what ways is this emphasis so different from the true gospel?

The attractiveness of the legalistic requirements to the people was the fact that it allowed them to be self-righteous. The fruit that it produces in a person

  4. Q1. (1 Timothy 4:1-2) Why does Paul remind Timothy (and the church) of predictions concerning widespread apostasy? What effect should this knowledge have on his ministry and the church's perception of the situation?

Paul reminds Timothy and the church of the widespread apostasy because he does not want to church to fall into the hands of those who want to deceive the people and lead them away from the true teaching of the Gospel of Christ. The church will be aware and not be fooled into believing lies and will be able to teach new believers the truth of the Gospel of Christ.

  5. Q4. (1 Timothy 3) According to our text, do you see differences in qualifications between overseers/elders and deacons? What are they?

Each office has its own qualifications; I believe it has to do with the difference of their responsibility to the church. But at the same time they have similar qualifications to use the roles in the church to do the jobs spiritually and efficiently.

  6. Q3. (1 Timothy 3) Why are tendencies to anger, intimidation, force, and pride so important to consider in selecting church officers? What happens when you don't consider these factors?

A person that is angry, intimidating, forceful, and prideful cannot lead the church without leading people away from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That person does not have the churches best interest at heart. This person is only concerned with himself. When you don

  7. Q1. (1 Timothy 3:2-12) What kind of leader do you believe Paul is indicating for us with the phrase "husband of one wife"? Why is a leader's family an important indicator of leadership potential or problems?

The leader here that Paul is speaking of is a man that is in control of himself. I believe that if he had more than one wife or if he were fooling around with other women, how can he concentrate on anything important that he is responsible for? His mind is on how to please all those women and how they can please him. If there are more than one woman in his life there is going to be chaos. Every woman in his life is going to want his attention. If there are children they will need his attention. Now where will the church come in at this point? There will be no time for the needs of the church and the congregation.

  8. Dear friends, since this is a topic in which various Christ-loving groups disagree, let's be especially careful to state our views with Christian love and gentleness. Denomination bashing and unloving attitudes are cause for suspension of Forum privileges.

Q5. (1 Timothy 2:11-15) How should Paul's instructions about women teaching and leading in the church be applied in the twenty-first century? How do you support your view?

I believe that women in ministry need to read that part of scripture from time to time to stay focus on the ministry and not on self. They know that God called them by the fruit that they bare. What I am trying to say is as a woman myself I sometimes get emotional and tend to put self into some situations when it really isn't about me. We have a lot to deal with and we should separate the things that we deal with into catagory of inportance. If your situation is more important than God it is time to make sure that you were really called to the ministry. Because we never want to chase anyone away from God or the blood of that person will be on our hands. This goes for men too. It is just that women have to be extra careful because of the way we are perceived in ministry by some people. We are more education now then the woman back in Paul's time and we should know better. We just have to make sure that self or the flesh does not take over. I have seen it happen in some of the churches that I have attended. People have left the church eventhough the word of God went forth, but along with it bad examples of how a woman of God carry themselves in ministry was taught. Some woman in ministry caused woman who were really dedicated to God's word and His people to a bad reputation.

  9. Q4. (1 Timothy 2:9-10) How did women dressing in fancy clothes threaten to compromise the church's witness in Ephesus? How do we apply the principle of Paul's directive in twenty-first century churches without instituting a new legalism?

Women dressing fancy would cause those who could not afford to buy the latest fashion would resent the women who could and nothing but back biting and gossip would get out of control. Clicks would form and fights will eventually break out. At that point the Word of God is not going forth. I would compare what goes on in the church today with the church in Paul's time. There is not that much difference. We would have to stop conveting what other wear and have a sincere heart open to God. We should do what God said to do and be content with what we have. "God will supply all our needs." This chose should be made individually we should humble ourselves and love everyone without favoritism then there would be no legalism.

  10. Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

The problem among the men of the congregation was that they were trying to serve God but hating their brother and God's command was to love everyone. How could they teach effectively if they were always angry with everyone? No one wants to listen to someone they don't like. If you try to worship with anything other than love in your heart you are only fooling yourself because your worship is in vain. God tells us in His word that He will forgive us if we will forgive others. Who are we not to love and forgive others, when we have sinned against God time and time again and He has forgiven us every time asked for forgiveness? God does not listen to empty worship.

  11. Q2. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) In the context of the salvation of all, why do you think Paul emphasizes the roles of Mediator and Ransom? In what way did Christ fulfill both these roles?

Jesus is God the Son and God the Father is well pleased with everything He does. The Lord Jesus laid down His life for all men. His very life was ransom for us and now because God the Father was satisfied with what Lord Jesus did to save all men, He now serves as mediator for all men so that through the Lord Jesus the Father will see us as worthy to be in His presence. Without the Lord Jesus standing up for us where would we be? Lost forever.

  12. Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of

all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of

    evangelism in the Ephesus church?

Paul emphasize salvation because that is what the Spirit of the Lord taught him. Paul knows that this is what God the Father wants, all to be given a chance to choose Him. This suggest that the people in Ephesus was not doing what God call them to do. They were only picking and choosing people of their on race and not going outside of there own culture to teach those who needed the word of God the most.

  13. Q3. (1 Timothy 1:17) What do we learn about God from this doxology? What do we learn about praise? Have you ever tried speaking out a doxology in your personal prayer or praise time? What effect does a doxology have on the speaker?

That He is worthy to be praised, He is mighty in battle, He is everyone and everything I will ever need as long as I live and beyond. He is the great I Am. It was my own praise to Him. When reading it from scripture and listening to what you are actually saying you become emotional realizing How blessed you really are to have a God of greatness love you so much He saved you by giving His only Son as payment for our many sins and to save our souls.

  14. Q2. (1 Timothy 1:12-14) Why does Paul comment on his own life after a paragraph on the law (1:8-11)? Why does he share this with Timothy and the church that will read the letter? How might sharing this help get the church back on center?

Paul what the church to know that he went through the same thing and he want them to know that God saved him and the same could happen for them. Sometimes when people can see an example of someone being saved from sin it is more believable and they feel that someone else has gone through the same thing.

  15. Q1. (1 Timothy 1:3-7) What were some of the results of false doctrine in the church at Ephesus? How does doctrinal controversy hurt the spirit of a church? How does it prevent growth? How does it keep the church from its mission?

The result of false doctring was quarreling, strife, fighting, destruction of faith, controversy. Doctrinal controversy hurts the spirit of the church when everyone is not on one accord in what they learn, people are taught to sin against God. The doctrine is confussing and no one knows what is truth and they start to do things their own way and not follow the true word of God. False doctrine stunts the growth of someone weak in the faith because the person is taught the wrong thing and does what is wrong in God's sight. Everyone is going in their own way and no one is together in what God's plan is for the church.

  16. Q5. What has this study on 2 Peter and Jude meant to you? How has it enriched your life? How could it be improved?

I have a new insight on what it means to study the word of God for yourself because you could be lead straight to hell by someone who is under the enfluence of Satan. I am thankful for this study and I believe God lead me to this website for the truth. God is great and He loves me. Keep doing the work of God. Thank you Pastor Ralph!

  17. Q4. (Jude 24) What does it mean to you that God is guarding you from falling? How can you explain God's exultant joy towards you? How will God manage to present you to himself "blameless"? How does that work?

It means the world to me the I have my Father in heaven guarding me from falling. I can't make without Him. It is because of His love for me and His desire that I not perish but live in love with Him in glory. He will present me to Himself blameless through His Son Jesus Christ. It's by the water, the blood and the Spirit that I believe that has cleanses me and I am born again because of Christ.

  18. Q3. (Jude 21a) What does it mean to "keep yourself in God's love"? What are you doing to strengthen your love relationship with God? What more could you do that might help?

To keep yourself in God's love means to read the word and apply it to your life with gladness. To talk with God on a daily basis and let God know that you appreciate everything that He has done for you. I am reading and studying the word of God and sharing what I find out with others. I do need to pray more and worship more. God has been more than good to me and He deserves better and I want Him to show me how. He deserves more from me.

  19. Q2. (Jude 20a) Why does God make you responsible to "build up" your own Christian faith? What are you doing on a regular basis to obey this command? What should you begin to do that will help you be built up better?

God want us to do some of the work for ourselves. If He does everything for us we won't appreciate the things that He does do for us. We have to read the Word of God. God already knows what He has said. Things worth keeping is worth working for. Our faith is well worth every effort to learn of God. The thing that I am doing to obey this command is to pray, fellowship at church with other believers, read the Word of God and try to keep God in my thoughts. Meditate on the word and fasting along with prayer.
