1. Q2.(Ephesians 1:18c) If you knew that in a few years yoou would nherit $10 million, would it affect your life now? How should our expectation of an inheritance in God's presence temper our present-day concerns? Since this inheritance will be shared with 'the saints'--our Christian family--how should that affect our fellowship with them? I would be the same person. But I would be thankful for what I have. We have to be smart with money because putting money into the wrong system, puts it into the hands of satan. When we place our monies into the hands of God
2. Q1.(Ephesians 1:18b) What do we christians have too look forward to? How should this hope be a major motivation in our present-day lives? How should this hope affect our decisions and our lifestyle? How does our great hhpe differ from the hope of the average non-believer? A Christian has to look forward to the promises of God. Eternal Life with God, being able to see God, being with God forever. We can look forward to a LIFE without sin, Everlasting Peace, Faithfu Love, Happiness beyond our imagination, being together as one people as God first intended us to be. I think a person who experiences this hope of glory consistently in everyday life is someone who really attempts to maintain his/her relationship with the LORD. I know that when I drift in Bible study, prayer, or worship I lose focus. We need to study God's word daily and commune/pray and seek direction on all decisions we make PRIOR to making any decision. We need to be prepared for Heaven. A word for thought "If we are not prepared here on earth now, HOW are we going to be prepared when Jesus returns?" we should be living our lives as the example of Jesus, we draw more folks to His light. non-believers dont have hope to view life (like those who do believe) because thier vision is blurred from the truth or just choose not to believe.
3. Q4. (1:13-14) These verses contain two analogies: (1) seal and (2) down payment, with the balance to be paid in a lump sum at the end of the term. When does the "end of the term" occur? When Jesus went to the cross He made the down payment on me with His blood. Then the Holy Spirit sealed it.We are sealed by his Holy spirit and He is our downpayment for a future with Christ through eternity but He is also our inheritance even now as Christ is our inheritance. I am His property sealed and delivered by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guarantees that we belong to Him and that He will do exactly as He promised. The rest of our lives is our annual payment towards His saving grace. The end of the term will be when Jesus returns and raptures us out of this world.
4. Q3. (Ephesians 1:11-12) According to verses 11 and 12, what is God's purpose for our lives? What do we need to do to fulfill this purpose? How does this purpose relate to Matthew 5:13-16? Gods purpose for our lives is to offer salvation to the world.God created us and we belong to Him.We need to go out into the world, with Gods Power(Holy Spirit in us)and reach lost souls.Share Gods word to the people who are lost.A lot of people are searching for peace and happiness in the wrong places. We must let our light shine. When people look at us they see a person who is full of life(Jesus).Let them see all the good in us. We need to praise God and worship Him and live our lives in such a Godly manner that others can see Christ in us, that others can see God's holiness in us. We need to be a light for God. To show our light to those around us Regarding Matthew 5:13-16---As christians, we show our love of Christ by doing things to help others, by sharing God's Plan of Salvation with others. Through our works, others will see Christ in us. Christ has given to us the salt of His Word to be used, He has given to us His light to shine in the darkness. Christ lives in us, so His light would be seen to those living around us. Salt means, prudence, prudent means using good judgment, being careful of ones conduct, for we are representing Christ to the world. How do we praise Him? By being the salt of the earth and a light that shows the path that leads to life everlasting.
5. Q2. (Ephesians 1:9-10) What is the significance that all things will be brought under one head--Christ himself? How does this relate the creator? What dos it say abut unity? I BELIEVE THAT UNDER ONE HEAD, CHRIST MEANS THAT ALL WHO WORSHIP HIM WILL BE BROUGHT TOGETHER UNDER CHRIST THE ONE WHO PAID THE PRICE FOR US. ALL people are ONE family in Christ Jesus, who sacrificed himself for all of us. In Corinthians we are told Jesus will destroy every sovereignity, authority and power. So all authority (including the heads of all denominations) will no longer exist but become subject to Jesus. One church. One way. One Head. Jesus. Jesus being the Head of the Church in Heaven and on Earth. We are one in Christ. God has revealed to us His Plans in acordance with His pleasures, His intentions for us. Unity - to unify (all things) one head (Jesus) and consummate them in Christ all things in Heaven and on Earth WILL BE IN UNITY (in one accord). Extra Credit: Hw does this verse relate to 1 Corinthians 15:24-28? JESUS WILL CONQUER, HE WILL RULE OVER ALL WITH GREAT AUTHORITY AND POWER DEFEATING THE EVIL AND SATAN. WHEN ALL IS COMPLETE HE WILL GIVE THE AUTHORITY OVER TO THE FATHER FOR HIS GLORY.
6. Q1.(Ephesians 1:7) In what sense have you been "redeemed" from slavery? What do you think your life up to now would have been like if you hadn't been redeemed? What would your future be like without redemption, do you think? without having christ my life would be a mess. I wouldn't know what direction I'm going. Jesus paid the price for us. So we could live and be free from slavery. Without him paying the price, I know I would be lost. Probally following other sinners and do things that is bad to do. Because Jesus died for us we learn his from is teachings and the bible. God gave his only son and now that we know that our eyes are open and the fear of God is in us. Our future without out redemption is like we are searching for something in oour lives without direction. We wouldn't have God's love in us
7. Q3.(Ephesians 1:4) What does it mean to be "holy"?[/b To be holy means to be like the image of Christ. Everything about us must be holy or try to live our lives the best way to please our God by our thoughts, the way we live and even the way we speak now. When I accepted Christ into my life I also accepted to change my old ways and walk the holy way. There must be a change in our life to be with god. We are all important to him but he lets us choose him so we can be like him. Now he leads us and molds us into his will so we can be perfect to be with him as he has promised. Q3b. In what sense can you stand "blameless" before God? We have all sinned in one point or another in our lives and sin is what makes us have blame. We must stand before God one day. To be blameless is for us to repent and wash away our sin. If we don't then we will be blame for the outcome of what my life would be. But with God on our side he will guide us and we will be blameless as long as we have him in our heart and do good will.
8. Q2a. (Ephesians 1:4-5) What is scary about predestination? its beyound our understanding of life can you imagine if god did not guide our life where would be now. It is scary to know that our lives could of been in another way but god made the world and made us of his image so we could have life. He send his only son to free us from sin so it won't distroy us but to give us a chance to have eternal life. Q2b. What is comforting? It is comforting to know that god is in every movement of our lives. He is in control of our plans and future only that we follow in his footsteps. Q2c. Why does Paul bring up predestination? To remind the church, that we were no accident that there is a purpose in gods plans for us. He made us of is image to be as him and every decision and detail he made it for a purpose n our lives. Q2d. Why do you think he is praising god for it in the "hearing" of the Ephesians? so we are aware how special we are to be called by god and to do his will. But also knowing he has a plan for us and we are special to him as he is to us. That we answer his call and do his will as he is there for us.
9. Q1. (Ephesians 1:3) What does it mean to you to be "in christ"-- incorporated into Christ? Once you accept god into your heart now you think differently...My life is no longer mines alone. Christ is in me and I am in Him. I now walk, talk, live, sleep, and etc.,etc. like Christ. The Holy Spirit lives within us to guide us and to do whats right in our lives. Q2. What are the implications of this for your life? Now that Christ has shed his blood for us to be free now its up to me to live my life a way to glorified his name. Now I learn his word and start to grow spiritually and using the guidance of the word for my map.
