  1. "Q1. (Galatians 2:11-14) Why do you think Peter first embraced the Gentile believers in Antioch and later withdrew from them to eat only with Jews? What does this tell us about his character? Why should he have known better? What does this tell us about Barnabas? What does it tell us about the political clout of the visitors from Jerusalem? Have you ever acted like a hypocrite to impress others? What should you do when you recover your senses?" Why do you think Peter first embraced the Gentile believers in Antioch and later withdrew from them to eat only with Jews? Fear of losing his reputation. What does this tell us about his character? Self centered, Weak. Why should he have known better?Peter should have known better by the vision God gave him regarding gentiles and food [Acts 11:1-18] What does this tell us about Barnabas? Barnabas acted no better than Peter. What does it tell us about the political clout of the visitors from Jerusalem? Apparently the visitors from Jerusalem carried a lot of influence to cause Barnabas and others to be led astray Barnabas like Paul had become close to the Christian Gentiles so for him to abandon them as a result of his visit with the representative's of Jerusalem surly indicated they're strong influence. Have you ever acted like a hypocrite to impress others? Yes, a few times. What should you do when you recover your senses?Ask for forgiveness, and apologize for my wrongs.
  2. "Q4. (Galatians 2:1-10) Why do you think Paul seems to distance himself from the leaders of the Jerusalem church (2:2, 6, 9)? Why does he at the same time write of their approval of his ministry? How does this further his argument to the Galatians in this letter?" Why do you think Paul seems to distance himself from the leaders of the Jerusalem church? He distanced himself from those leaders because they had falsely led the people into thinking they had to be circumcised. Why does he at the same time write of their approval of his ministry? He wanted them to realize that He was sent by Jesus to them not from man. How does this further his argument to the Galatians in this letter? He wants to teach them the knowledge that he was given and the grace he had received, and that Jesus was sent to all men not just the Jews.
  3. "Q3. (Galatians 2:1-3) Paul is arguing that the Jerusalem leaders support his position on circumcision, rather than that of the Judaizers. What is the significance of Paul’s mention that Titus was not required to be circumcised?" Titus wasn't a Jew, he was Greek. Titus not being circumcised meant gentiles who became believers do not have to be circumcised. Paul is stressing we're saved by grace not by legalism.
  4. "Q2. (Galatians 1:13-16) What factors in Paul's background made him an ideal apostle to the Gentiles? How did God use his being different from others? To ponder: How has your unique background fitted you for ministry? What uniqueness has God given you? What will it take to see that uniqueness as a God-given strength rather than as an embarrassment?" What factors in Paul's background made him an ideal apostle to the Gentiles? How did God use his being different from others? Paul was well versed in the knowledge of Judaism, Jesus' direct calling, his independent development apart from the Christian Jews. What uniqueness has God given you? I can talk to people very easily, I have natural born leadership ability's. I have a great mind for statistics. What will it take to see that uniqueness as a God-given strength rather than as an embarrassment? I don't see really see it as an embarrassment.. I do recognize ineed to use them more.
  5. "Q1. (Galatians 1:11-12) What is the source of Paul’s gospel? How do we know that it is a true revelation? How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? What is the danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the Scripture?" What is the source of Paul’s gospel? From Jesus Christ directly. How do we know that it is a true revelation? I believe Paul's Revelation is a Gospel that does not depart from the other apostles. How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? It has to conform to apostolic teaching and the scripture. What is the danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the Scripture? It can mislead us, that is why reading and checking the scripture is so important.
  6. "Q2. Paul called the Judaizers’ message as a “different gospel,” a perversion of the true gospel. How is this dangerous to the Galatian believers? How do twisted gospels (or an unbalanced interpretation of the gospel) affect Christians in our day?" It was dangerous to the Galatian believers because they were being lead away from the true gospel and started following the false teachings and created confusion. It affects Christians today as it did then.
  7. "Q1. (Galatians 1:4) According to verse 4, for what purpose did Jesus give himself? How does Jesus rescue people today? How does he keep people from falling back into their old ways?" According to verse 4, Jesus died on the cross to save us from the present evil age. So salvation is through him alone. Christ still rescue's us today as he always has, people invite him into their life. Whoever calls upon the the name of the Lord shall be saved. Jesus keeps us from falling back into our old ways. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who is actively working in our lives.
