  1. 1) Reconciliation means to win over to friendliness. 2) Reconciliation with God is necessary because it means that we are at peace with God and through Jesus Christ we glory and rejoice in Him. 3) Through the power of Divine Grace, Christ's life works salvation in us, molding us into Christ like character, interceding for us and keeping us from falling under the power of sin.
  2. Q1 - It is important because Christ's death on the cross is the basis of our faith. We are descendants of Adam and Eve and we inherited sin from them. Q2 - Christ died for us when we were at our worst, as sinners. This assures us because it means that if God demonstrated his love for us when we had no hope as sinners, there is nothing that God cannot forgive. Our falling into temptation is an opportunity for God to discipline us and to train us into righteousness.
  3. Q1 - According to this passage, we should rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations because our suffering produces endurance which brings God's approval, which in turn creates hope. We hope to be in the presence of God in all his glory in heaven and we have expectations in God's promises for eternal life. Q2 - Perseverance - Endurance or patience in the face of adversity. We persevere in our trials and frustrations and this makes us stronger. - Character - This comes as a result of our patience. With our character we are able deal better with our Christian trials and we are also able to help other Christians through our experiences. - Hope - Hope keeps us focused on Jesus and of eternal life God has promised us.
  4. Q1- For Abraham, his justification was when God accepted him as righteous which came as a result of his faith and believing in God. Q2 - For us, our justification or being put right with God comes as a result of our faith in Jesus Christ. This means that we gain our righteousness through Jesus Christ. Q3 - For me, justified means to be vindicated in your beliefs or actions. In this context, I think it means too be put right with God or to be considered in the righteous by God.
  5. Jesus shared in our human weaknesses by experiencing temptation in the forty days in the wilderness and in the Garden of Gethsemane. Although Jesus is/ was without sin, he experienced the exact same temptations we go through during his stay as human. This is because God intends for us to be like Jesus and so He will walk us through the same experiences that Jesus went through. So we can find comfort in knowing that Jesus will be sympathetic to our weaknesses because he has shared in and understands our weaknesses.
  6. Q1 - Holding fast to our confession is important because our confession is the basis of our faith as Christians. Q2 - My Confession is "Jesus is Lord" Q3 - By maintaining our confession, we will be able to receive the eternal life that God promised.
  7. - We are exhorted to focus our thoughts on Jesus because he is our High Priest who appeals to God on our behalf. - We must hold on to our faith because we are only part of God's house if we continue firmly in our faith. - If we are allowed to be shaken in our faith, we lose our focus on Jesus and we loseour courage and confidence in what we hope for.
