  1. There are many times in my life I wish I could filter out the world and focus only on Christ. The worries and pleasures of life too easily choke out my time with God. Oh, to be able to spend all my time with Him, the Creator and Lover of my soul. David gives the "secret" for accomplishing this (dwelling in the oresence of the Lord) in the last verse: Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Just be quiet before Him and wait. Now if I could conquer my flesh and do that ...
  2. Sometimes you just want to hide from God. I'm sure David did. You're ashamed of your imperfections, and you just want to dig a hole somewhere, crawl in, curl up, and die. But David saw how fruitless those efforts would be. You can't hide from God! He made the universe, so where are you going to hide? God loves us so much, He will ALWAYS be with us. The end of Psalm 139 reminds me of the end of Psalm 19. In both of them, the psalmist is asking for God's help to live a God-pleasing life.
  3. The common thread I see is the testimony of God - the heavens speak of God; Scripture speaks of God. If you want to know Him, look around, and look in His Word. In verse 6, we are reminded that nothing is hidden from Him. That is why it is even more important that our words and thoughts be acceptable to Our Lord.
  4. This Psalm shows me that The Great Big Awesome God who created the universe loves tiny insignificant man so much that He wants man to rule with Him. That is why He has delegated the care of the animals to us.
