  1. Why is it important to embrace the truth that "Christ died for the ungodly", is that when we were still hopeless and powerless, still slave to our sins, God through His love sent His sinless Son, the one who did not know sin to bear our sins to set us free from the slavery of sin. Christ died for us at our worst and this gives us assurance that whatever the devil tells us are all lies, because Jesus died for us sinners not for the righteous.
  2. Because of Abraham's faith in God, God himself justified him as righteous man. Abraham through genuine faith obeyed God even though he didn't know where he was going, so God was pleased with him and God Himself justified him, but for us today we need to have faith in Christ, the Only Son of God, the same faith that Abraham had in God in order for God to justify us and cancel all our sins through our faith in His only Son who died for us. Without faith in Christ we can not be justified because we do not believe in the Son of God who shed His blood for us to reconcile our relationship with His Father.
  3. Q3. (Judges 7:1-3) Why did God feel Gideon's army was too large? Why was shrinking the army's size to a tiny band essential in restoring Israel's faith and allegiance? What kinds of pressures would Gideon be feeling not to obey God in shrinking his army? How was Gideon able to obey God fully in this? God did not need that many army for the war. He wanted the whole nation of Israel including Gideon to know that God alone can do a mighty work, He doesn't need human army to protect His people, also God wanted them to know that it is not their own strength that defeated their enemies but God's power so they don't boast on it. I think this is the whole idea behind this shrinking of the army. For Gideon, I think he was trembling when he saw the big army and God told him to make his army small, I think he was under a lot of pressure he maybe thinking that with these 300 men going out to fight several thousands of men is ridiculous, I know he was scared to death, but he obedient to God and did what God told him to do. He obeyed God after he tested God several times, he asked God to give him a sign that He is really sending him to the war and that He is really going to give them victory over their enemies.
  4. Q2. (Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope? No one rejoice in sufferings and tribulations, but we as Christians who know that Christ who knows no sin and suffered and died for us sinners, we have to share the suffering of Jesus. Jesus accepted the suffering because he knew what rewards awaiting Him after His suffering. So as Christians, followers of Christ we also know that after our sufferings and tribulations we go through, we will share with Jesus what God has prepared for all faithful believers. The importance of perseverance is to stay firm regardless of what we are going through, and in that way our true character will be revealed and in that way, our future hope becomes a reality. Hope is the key word here, because it is "hope" that allows us to stay firm when our characters are being tried with sufferings and tribulations. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Thank you.
