  1. Credibility increases as the principles of Christianity are applied. You preach that Christ is a "very present help in times of trouble?" Okay, here's trouble, where's the help? Paul demonstrated by his refusal to panic, by his trust in the outcomes, by the breadth of his understanding of God's perfect provision-all situations were win-win for Paul, by his ability to find an advantage and, so God's perspective on his circumstances, strengthened his testimony. I believe strongly that we are pressed into trouble by God's engineering for these very reasons. Contrary to an "easy believism", we are not delivered from the troubles of this world, but to them for the gospel's sake.Likie the majority of Americans right now, we are all faced with inordinate economic stress. the question is, how shall we then live before the viewing eyes of a Godless society? Is our attitude angry, self-pitying, defensive, hopeless? Paul gives us an example of trust and faithfulness when stressed/tried
  2. Paul expects that God will finish what He has started because He is God. Paul's confidence is not in the Philippians, who, like all of us, are feeble and fall short daily. Paul's confidence is in almighty God, who fails at nothing. In Him we are able to do more than we could think or dream of doing because wi are joined to Him through Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom is all power and glory. Poema
  3. When we contribute to a ministry of any kind we are adding our efforts to the efforts of the ones physically present and performing the tasks involved in the ministry. In addition, our hearts are joined in a common cause with theirs. The outcomes become important to us as well as to the ones physically present there. It becomes an area of mental and emotional focus in our lives and we, ideally, find ouselves working on another plane for this cause. That translates into designating extra income to the chosen ministry, working extra hours or taking on extra paying work in order to add more funds, or working to provide for specific needs of a ministry that have been communicated by the one who is on-site.
  4. Slave-belongs to one master who has sole ownership and total control. The slave abdicates his will and submits to all the master's requests. He is also the representative of the master in places of business, when making purchases on the master's behalf, when sent on any kind of errand.
