  1. Q4. (1 Timothy 1:18-19) Why does Paul need to remind Timothy about the prophecies spoken over him? In practical terms, what does "fight the good fight" really mean? Why does Paul tell Timothy to "hold on to faith and a good conscience"? What temptation is Paul trying to counter in his protege? Paul is reminding Timothy of what God has blessed him with. He has to remind him because it can be so easy to get discouraged when things are going wrong. He wants him to hold on to what is right. He wants him to stand up for the truth and protect him from those false teachers and the way of the world. He is reminding him that he is not alone and he must not give up. God will see him through,
  2. There none other like him. He is all powerful. His is the alpha and omega. Give all praises onto him for all he has done for me. I thank him for his favor. I thank for his mercy and his grace. We were created to worship and praise him.
  3. Paul wanted to show them that if god could save him he could save anyone. Sometimes people need to hear a testimony to see that they are not the only one who have been in that lw place. This was a way of showing hope for all.
  4. The false doctrine was causing division and controversy throughout the church. People were mixing their old traditions with the truth. They did not fully understand the gospel and began to rely on old wives tales and myths. As a result of this people began to believe false truths. I began to think of some of our spiritual leaders today who add their own "truths" to the word of God. They add things to please themselves and allow some of their wrongdoings to be acceptable. This always stagnates the growth of the church. We can not grow if we are living by false truths. We can not grow if we are divided. Division promotes chaos and confusion. Chaos and confusion are not of God.
