  1. Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse?. They are going through the motions of prayer while their mouths and hearts are full of anger74 and infighting. What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart. . Anger and controversy must not intrude on the worship of God.
  2. Q2. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) In the context of the salvation of all, why do you think Paul emphasizes the roles of Mediator and Ransom? Jesus Christ served as Mediator between sinful man and God so that all people may be saved. In what way did Christ fulfill both these roles? In giving his life for our sins, Jesus paid the ransom and served as the Mediator between sinful man and the All Perfect God.
  3. Q1. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) Why does Paul emphasize salvation of all mankind in this letter? Jesus taught that the gospel was to be preached to the entire world. What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? This suggests that not every was included in evangalism. The gentiles were excluded.
  4. Q4. Read Matthew 8:5-13; 21:33-44; 22:2-13; 24:14; and 28:19. What do they have in common? What relation does the visit of the wise men have to Matthew's theme of bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles? How should we be applying this mandate in our own lives? When reading the above scriptures, we are reminded that Jesus came to save all people including the Gentiles. Even though the Magi were not Jews, they came to worship Jesus as their Savior as they knew they needed a Messiah too. We need to live in such a way that our lives will be a light to those who do not know Jesus as their Savior and to share the Word with them that Jesus is their Savior too. This is the best Christmas gift we could give.
  5. Q3. (Matthew 2:11b) Why was it appropriate for the Magi bring gifts to the Christ-child? Whenever foreign dignitaries would appear before a great king they would bring gifts as a sign of obeisance and honor. The Magi are aware that this newborn baby is King of the Jews. How does the extravagance of their gifts reflect their heart attitude? They want to give their King the very best they have to give. What kinds of gifts are appropriate for us to bring? It is appropriate for us to bring our very best to Jesus. Whatever we give or do to His glory should be the very best we have to offer.
  6. Q2. (Matthew 2:11a) What do we learn from seeing the Magi prostrating themselves before the child Jesus? These men were convinced -- rightly -- that they were standing before the Messiah, the King of the Jews. Their obeisance was fitting. What was the significance of this for them? They were showing that they worshiped the Messiah. How can we emulate this kind of worship? We can emulate this kind of worship by glorifying the Messiah worship, prayer, and living a life that is according to God's Word. Jesus tells us that when we love His children, we are showing our love for Him.
  7. Q1. (Matthew 2:1-2; Numbers 24:17) What is the significance of the Star of Bethlehem that the Magi saw? The significance of the Star of Bethlehem that the Magi saw was that it was a supernatural occurrence sent by God to signify the birth of the King of the Jews and it would lead the Wise men to Jesus. In the book of Numbers 24:17,the star that will rise from Jacob is often thought to refer to the coming Messiah. It is this Prophecy that convinced the astrologers to travel to Israel to search for the baby Jesus. Why do you think the Magi came to find the Christ-child when they saw the star? The Magi realized the spiritual significance of this event. The King of the Jews had been born. In what way does prophecy prefigure this event? Number 24:17 prophesied this event and the Magi studied astrology and saw the change in the constellation.
  8. Q5. (Luke 2:17-20) Great joy, praise, curiosity, amazement, telling others, thoughtful meditation. Which of these responses to the Good News are present in your life? In what manner do they show themselves? If some are missing, why? What can you do to recover these responses? All of these responses are present at times in my life but I want to have each increased in my life. When I pray and glorify God, I feel great joy and amazement and know excitement as I share the Good News with other. As I pray, I ask God to help me to help me to grow in Him and to strive daily to live in such a manner that I know the amazement and excitement of serving Him as my Lord and Savior.
  9. Q4. (Luke 2:11) What are the three titles of Jesus given by the angels? What does each mean? What does this tell us about Jesus' true identity? Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.'" (2:10-11) Savior Christ Lord Jesus is One who came to save people from the results of their sin. He is the annointed one or Messiah and He is God, master and Lord (the highest One and the most important).
  10. Q3. (Luke 2:7-8) Why do you think the message of Jesus' birth comes to shepherds, of all people? There is no more disreputable occupation than that of a shepherd."10 Philo, a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher of Alexandria (25 BC - 45 AD), wrote about looking after sheep and goats, "Such pursuits are held mean and inglorious."Jesus came to the earth to reach out to the poor and to sinners. Why is Jesus born in a stable with a manger for a bed? This has to be intentional. What point is God making? Here again, we see Jesus came as a humble being to reach out to the poor both in body and spirit. We must remember this in our society when we want so many material things and when we have a tendency to want to glorify the wealthy. With Thanksgiving for our salvation, we glorify God.
  11. [b ]Events were placed in history by naming the ruler when the event took place. Placing Jesus in history using this method of naming the ruler indicates that Jesus was real and alive and lived during this period.[/b]
