As Jesus says elsewhere, we must be alert and recognize the coming for what it is and welcome it. This life, though it has many pleasures, is not the best we can do. Jesus will come like the days of Noah which means people are going about their normal lives as if nothing is going to happen, and on that particular day destruction from God occurs suddenly and with further warning. Our Attitudes should be like the warning that Jesus warns his disciples that when this day suddenly appears, they aren't to rush off or turn away to get something. The implications is that on this day we should not worry about our things on that day, else they become a snare to us and cause us to miss out on the deliverance he offers. Jesus tell us that People will be going about their normal lives as if nothing is going to happen. Then on a particular day destruction from God occurs suddenly and without further warning. Have your hearts ready for Jesus at all times, live your life as if the coming is going to happen in the next minute, turn away from "things" and turn to Jesus. The indication that Jesus gives is that, the day He will come people will be going about their normal lives as if nothing is going to happen. What are the implications of this for our attitude? The implication for our attitude is that, if we dont care about the warning and follow the word of God, we will be caught unprepared and there will be no time to correct the mistake. But for those who hear the word of God and abide with it, they will be ready to recieve the Messiah. For our lives? the implication for our lives is that, for those who are abiding with the Word of God will be saved but for those who do not will be destroyed. For our lives? 1) The indication that Jesus give in this passage that he will suddenly come in his Kingdom without further warning is that His coming will be like lightening that flashes across the sky. It will be sudden. Jesus points us back to the flood and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as examples of the suddenness of God's judgment. People were going about living their normal. 2) Implications for our attitude and for our lives are that we should live our lives the way God intended so we will be ready when He returns. Both examples are of dissaster that came suddenly. The people were warned, but when it came, it came suddenly. When Jesus comes again it will be suddenly as well. For those of us who are saved it will be a glorious day, for the rest it will be another dissaster. What are the implications of this for our attitude? Our attitude should be to ignore our material things and focus only on God at all times For our lives? pickledilly Posted August 24, 2012 Report Share Posted August 24, 2012 Jesus used understandable analogies to clearly indicate that His return and the full coming of His Kingdom will be startling and without further notice. The people of Noah’s time went on about their ordinary lives and ignored the warning of destruction as it took many, many years for the construction of the ark. But the day finally came just as predicted, and the earth’s entire population, except Noah’s family, was taken by surprise without any preparation. When judgment fell on Sodom and Gomorrah, it came suddenly and swiftly. There was nowhere to escape the destruction. And Lot’s wife ignored Yahweh’s instructions for deliverance to their family as she longed for her old life and disobediently looked back. Jesus made it clear that anyone whose heart is tied to the things of earth on His Day of return will lose everything. We are called to live for His future of glory for us rather than our past and current existence for self. We are to live with our eyes and hearts expectantly set on heaven rather than on earth. We are to live with open hands that are prepared to release everything of the old life and ready feet set to march when the time comes to go! Suddenly, just like Sodom and Gomorrah and during the time of Noah people will be taken by surprise. brycle Posted August 4, 2013 Report Share Posted August 4, 2013 He relates his coming to two other incidents in the Bible where people were caught unaware, consumed with their usual life rituals, and that there was no expectation that anything different would occur. He also makes it clear this day will come so suddenly that we will have no time for even the simplest of preparations. It may happen so quickly that someone on the roof of their house or in the field won’t even have enough time to first return to their home. The implications for our attitude are that we must never become casual or complacent thinking that the time is still not ripe. We must stay constantly vigilant and ready, and to live as if the moment could be seconds away. He also warns against developing attachment to material things in our lives. Not only will they perish, but may be a source of distraction causing us to look behind like Lot’s wife. We must keep our focus set on what is coming rather than cling to what is passed. We should always be ready for His return. We should be vigilant. We will want only the Lord no material possessions. They are not important. All eyes will be on his coming. Ernie's Son Posted November 24, 2015 Report Share Posted November 24, 2015 There are two events that are given that he will suddenly come in his kingdom without further warning: the great flood in Noah's time, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. These events have some things in common: people are living as if nothing is going to happen; and suddenly without any further warning, on a particular day, God will bring destruction. As to our attitude, these implications puts what is important from that which is not. While one will look at material things, another will look for the Lord's return. Lot's wife was to run for her life and not look back. "Things" on that day will be a snare for those who turn back. The one on the roof or in the field should not go back for anything. What do these implications have on our lives? As the tithe comes first, the Lord must have the first place of our life. What is and what is not important, either temporal or eternal, have their rightful place. On the throne of our life has to be Christ. It's the reference that he'll arrive like lightening which is the implication that his arrival will be sudden, and swift. What are the implications of this for our attitude? For our lives? Basically this is Judgment Day in which destruction will occur, also known as the Day of the Lord. He will come and take those that is saved, and leave behind those that are doomed.
