"Be Quiet and Let Me Bless You"
by Dr. Ralph F. WilsonI was complaining. "Why, God, do I have to do this? The men in our church ought to be out here working instead of the pastor." I was working with another man, building forms for a sidewalk along our church parking lot. It seemed that I was always having to work on repair and construction projects. It was a small church and the laymen didn't have the motivation they should.
As I complained, the Lord spoke clearly to me: "Be quiet and let me bless you." I didn't understand about the blessing, but I did stop complaining.
Years later as our family was engaged in adding a major addition to our house I remembered the incident. The "blessing" was now becoming apparent.
When I had gone to the church I was "all thumbs" when it came to being a handyman. But working alongside the plumbers, and electricians and carpenters at our church, and heading up a major classroom project I had learned a great deal. Without all that work I never would have attempted such a large addition to our own home.
The faithful men of the church were God's way of blessing me. Lord, stop my complaining and let me see your hand at work.
