Q4. (Psalm 32:2-5) How does self-deceit operate with sin to enslave us? How does confession enable us to get free from sin? Why do we sometimes resist the truth about ourselves? What does it take to get us to see truth sometimes?

I Kept Silence: The silence was a stubborn resistance to admitting guilt, a hope that in time the sin it's penalty would go away. The more one delay his confession, the more he suffers. Once you realize it was not just your conscience or our feelings that were assaulting us, but the heavy hand of God. No matter who else is hurt, the principal offense of any sin is always against God.

You Forgave: The consequence of our sin remained despite God's forgiveness. But at this point, the greater news was God's forgiveness. God will restore His relationship with us. On the basis of our own experience, we can teach others, that they can also experience forgiveness if they will come to the Lord in faith.

He who is pardon, has in every case been taught to deal honesty with himself, his sin, and his God. forgiveness is no sham, and the peace which it brings is not caused by playing tricks with conscience. Self deception and hypocrisy bring no blessedness. Those who are justified from fault are sanctified from falsehood.

A liar is not forgiven.

Self-deceit in our inner peron is so self-destructive. We might know deep down that we're done something wrong, but at the surface level. We rationalize our actions, refusing to admit the dpth of our guilt. The result-physical and emotional drain that takes its toll on the life.

The key is to apply truth to the self-deceit. That is what the word does for us.

When we apply lies to mask our sin, the result is the inner soul of a human being which cries out for relief from guilt at some level.

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.". (James 5:16)

Self-deceit operate with sin to enslave us when we allow ourselve to believe that the sin was no big deal or to believe that by our own strength we can overcome it. We find ourselves in the grip of the sin and not seeking to be freed by the cleansing and forgiveness of God. It is through our confession of these sins that we surrender and face our wrong, it is the first step in repentance. We sometimes resist the truth about ourselves because we do not want to change. To see the truth we have to see ourselves, others and situations through the lens of Scripture.

Self deceit causes a circular effect where we start with inner lies and the evil one creates in us a stronghold which causes to believe that we are lower than dirt which causes us to to start a downhill struggle which we never get out of-we become entangled in something we get trapped in until we figure out and repent. Without confession there is no escape. We buy into this lie and it takes true repentance and God to break through this act by evil one.
