  1. God's plan had Jesus to become human like us, so we could see God's grace and truth in the flesh, see how He died for our sins, and give us hope in the face of a fallen wretched world that would crucify Him and ourselves How does his humanity provide encouragement and help to us when we are in trouble? He said, Lo I am always with you, even to the end. When we are "in trouble" is it not a blessing to be able to call on Him to stay faithful despite the uncomfortable situation? Did He not suffer far more than any human can suffer? Did He not say to get up and take up our cross to follow Him at al costs of this world? Perhaps the cost of not following is far worse than the glory of accepting all in our live, because it is the will of God, and our actions to follow or not follow His will?
  2. The purpose of Christ's death (according to verses 14 and 15 "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death -- that is, the devil -- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.) We must not fear death, but remember we are in eternity now (John 17:3), an are free to follow God's will, joyfully, without hesitation. So what am I waiting for, the invitation has been offered to all who truly believe! So this is mission accomplished! What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment? We are bondservants to Christ, bought by His blood. There is no final anything, simply His eternal grace. May I remember this later as I re-enter "daily life" after this bible study. This not to be an ADHD moment in my life. I must be sober and faithful and vigilant as much as humanly possible. All glory to His Name.
  3. Bringing many sons and daughters "to glory" This Jesus did and He was "pure, holy and perfect" throughout all His suffering... we can try but never attain such suffering for the salvation of others here on earth. We're only limited by our faith during our own lives! This is a call to put on the full armor of God (Eph6:14-18) and stand where God puts us to the test. I seek this with fear and trembling, and we recall what He did: "In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering." (2:10)
  4. In what way did Christ "taste death for everyone"? Why is this so dependent upon God's grace? If Christ died for your blackest and most stubborn sins, what are the implications for you? John 3:16 explains it is for everyone who believes. Only the pure lamb of God, Jesus, and by his blood can be be cleansed. No human merits this, Moses got angry, was not allowed into the promised land. He was a good servant, led by God, not able to do anything by himself. Such it was for all the prophets of the bible, humble servant hearts. With shame I think of my blackest stubborn sins and cry for mercy and cleansing, Psalm 51, especially verse 10 create in me a clean heart oh God. These is no other hope for a sinner like me. Dear LORD thank you for your grace and mercy, in Jesus name. How can we not love God more than anything on earth. In the end it will be of no value towards a journey to the heavens. Bless the LORD, oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name!
  5. In what ways did Jesus suffer during his life and death? In what ways are we likely to suffer? Does suffering have any value? What happens when we live in such a way to avoid all suffering? "In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him." (2:7b-8) Jesus suffered great persecution daily, yet He remained in the Father,,, until He had suffered for all the sin of man. We can't comprehend how much it hurt him while he was alive in his body, it was beyond horrible to die like this, but He was faithful to the end; we thank God for the faith of His son Jesus, who paid it ALL. And how He quickens us all to service and praise to His Glorious work here on earth. OH, how He loves us, today and forever, though we are like dirty rags. He loves what he created and give us every chance to repent and follow Him with our tiny cross compared to His immense suffering and death for the salvation of all.
  6. In what way has the truth of salvation been confirmed to you? Would signs and wonders help or hinder establishing the truth of Christ's ministry today? From which portion of the Bible have you formed your opinion of the value of signs and wonders today? "...For the message spoken by angels is binding, and every violation and disobedience receives its just punishment. We shall not escape if we ignore our only salvation? This new testament gospels document the supernatural miracles of Jesus; they prove He is God, and Son of God, spoken by the Father when Jesus was baptized. These all encourage me to repent again, and again, and especially NOW, while I still have breath
  7. We are in a fallen world that hates Jesus; still we are fully responsible for what we have read here; this word is God's command not human opinion; otherwise we'll not enter into His rest, not now, nor after physical death. We pray that His word has fallen on good soil and that we'll share the good news while we are physically in this world!
  8. The author's description of the Son as the 'radiance of God's glory" Assures me the Son is himself divine! The Son came to serve and follow the Father's will perfectly, and He is now heir and sustainer of of all things, LORD over all; He is to be obeyed fully. This requires prayerful repentance when we recognize our sin! "... 2b his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." (1:2b -3)
  9. Q2. (Hebrews 1:2-3) What about the author's description of the Son makes you think that the Son described is himself divine? What role does the Son have in doing the Father's will according to these verses? I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols." (Isaiah 42:8) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) This God's biblical words, to be digested fully, in faith and eternal hope. The Son never sinned because He "prayed and remained in the Father's Wiil from birth until He said "It is finished" We must gratefully praise Him forever!!
  10. Q1. (Hebrews 1:2) In what way do you think the author of Hebrews is using the word "Son"? As a metaphor? As a biological relationship? How would a Son's words have more weight than a prophet's? The word "Son" is for the begotten son of God, not a metaphor of anything. Conceived by the Holy Ghost, and made man in the flesh. The Messiah, Emanuel, our LORD and Savior, the living word or God. Jesus is God, and Son of God. He came to show us how much God really loves us, so deep and strong for those He for-knew and called, and justified. We are blessed to have Jesus words, the fulfiller of the most important prophecies. He confirmed and fulfilled all of them, Psalm 22:31 "They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it!"
  11. Q4. (Hebrews 4:12-13) What do these two verses have to do with what precedes them? How is the Word described? What effect does the Word have on us? Why do we need to continually expose ourselves to the Word of God? "Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience." (4:11) "12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (4:12-13) Only sincere fervent prayer, reading the word, serving and sincere fellowship represent "making every effort to enter into His presence (rest). It is a glorious place, moment that connects us with our Creator, our LORD Jesus Christ. All glory to His name. He said/commanded in John 15 "... remain in me..." Thsi si for our own good, to help keep the faith in to one who loves and created us.
  12. (Hebrews 4:8-11) What do you think the writer of Hebrews means by this promise of "rest" for the believer? Why does the writer urge us: "Make every effort to enter that rest"? What is the difference between apostasy from Christ and the kind of falling into sin that all Christians experience from time to time? Apostasy from Christ is like suicide. Even the thought of it makes me shudder. Repenting is necessary, and asking God to show us how to resist temptation, which He always does, though we often ignore Him. This is helping me understand and further digest this morning, the big picture of Hebrews, and importance of holding on to faith in God's word.
  13. (Hebrews 3:12-14) What is the importance of faith in our relationship to Christ? How does sin trick us? How does it harden us? What is the value of Christian fellowship to keep our faith strong? We are sinners, called to faith by God, not our own doing. We are saved by grace and faith in Jesus promise (John 3:16) The world declares this all to be false, old words in an outdated book by what man has learned in science and philosophy over time. If we follow the world, that hates God and Jesus especially, then we are doomed eternally. Sin continually tricks me and I need the fellowship of real brothers, and bible studies like this one.
  14. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Heb11:6 If He is not pleased we must repent with contrite broken hearts. If we permanently lose faith, we are no longer saved, and in reality we had never surrendered everything to our creator. So let's be careful, that the evil one be defeated and we rejoice and return to our evangelist mission of Matt 28:19
  15. The past is not the present. Jesus said "remain in me, and I'll remain in you..." This requires forgetting the past, it is not so easy to live in the present. Let go and let God. I strike out on this more than I get on base, still I notice God loves and forgives, if we are sincere when we go in prayer to Him. Lord please give me grace to trust and follow you more. In Jesus name, amen
  18. Are we able to determine things of greatest importance and put our efforts into those things -- the things that are of greatest worth? With prayer and supplication we can then hear what God says is the most important thing to do today. Like a Nike commercial: "Now that you know it, go do it!"
  19. Q3. (1:6) What does Paul expect God to do for the Philippian believers? Why does he expect God to do this? What is the basis of Paul's confidence? On what basis can we expect God to do this for us? Paul knows that God will not leave undone His work on each Philippian for the rest of their lives. He know this because of the Bible's promise, the promise of God's word. We were made to worship and glorify God in everything we do. That is why we are still here, there is something for us to do today. We need to be open and resdy to do this when the moment arrives.
  20. Q2. (1:6) When we become financial "partners" with a Christian missionary, minister, ministry, or church, what do we receive out of the partnership? What other kinds of support might we offer beyond financial? Financial partners with God is to recognize that it is all His. So we must be wise and know when to be frugal, and when to give with abundance that which He has give to us. Service is another way to give support. Time is money, time is precious, we must not squander our time. We must not procrastinate, still seeking wise advice before jumping into something.
  21. Q1. (1:1) What is the basic idea of "slave"? What is the root idea of "saint"? In what way are these words saying the same thing about a Christian's relationship to God? (Note: to answer this question correctly you'll need to refer to the notes on the precise word meanings.) Being a slave is to be owned by God, by Jesus... He bought me with His blood on the cross. Being a saint is being willing to be God's instrument, and seek to follow His will all the time. Serious business, we need to get to work for His Kingdom. We can always do something in the moment, but we must remember, all is kingdom work.
  22. Q3. (Daniel 2:44) What does verse 44 teach us about the kingdom that the God of heaven will set up? What kingdom is this? When does this kingdom come? How is this related to Mark 1:15? When will it destroy all other kingdoms? This is about the coming of Jesus's first time on earth. We know what Jesus said when he went back to the father. God's plan to consume other kingdoms is our job as foot soldiers of peace and love
  23. Q2. (Daniel 2:27-28) How does Daniel show humility in this situation? How does he use this situation as an opportunity to witness before the king to his faith in God? According to 1 Peter 5:5-6, should we try to exalt ourselves? If we do so, what will happen? The wisdom of this Godly man, Daniel, becomes so obvious by the humble way he says that the answer is from his God and not himself. According to 1 Peter 5:5-6, we are better to humble ourselves than to be bragging. All good comes from our merciful God, ALL good. We receive it if he so chooses to reveal our blessings
  24. Q1. (Daniel 2:17-18) Why does Daniel ask his friends to "plead for mercy"? According to Scripture, is intercessory prayer important? Is it effective? How can we implement intercessory prayer in our churches? This is a great teaching question! We know how the story will end if we have ever read Daniel before. So clearly, we learn that praying for others in something we need to do. Long ago, we implemented an intercessory prayer ministry in our church. These people have a strong spiritual presence and a joy about live. Discussing with church elders or the pastor on doing this, is necessary, if your church doesn't yet do it. We must pray solo for awhile before going to ask about it to elders. Any church is a "body" led by its leaders. If for some reason they have not done this yet, we'd need to prayerfully seek them out after weeks of prayer and meditation
  25. Q4. (Daniel 1:8-16) What is Daniel's first approach to eat a different diet? What does he do when his first attempt failed? What is his demeanor towards those over him? In what ways do you think God affects the outcome of Daniel's request? Daniel is a man of strong unshakable faith. He is a great human role model of one who is in this world but not of this world. There are few on the earth today who provide us such a good model of faith. Still we are lucky to study God's word today. And we praise His Holy Name!
