(Romans 5:9-11) What does "reconciliation" mean? Why is reconciliation with God necessary? We understand our having been saved by Jesus' death (5:10a, past tense). In what sense are we being saved (5:10b, present tense) by his life? What is Jesus doing for us in the present?
God is holy and we are sinners and therefore, we were far away from Him. Reconciliation means that if we believe in Jesus, He puts us back together. His death washed our sins away. Then, we can stand before God. In present, He walks besides us so we don't keep on sinning.
2. We are sinners, each and everyone of us. Paul assures us Jesus also died for us at our worst. Satan on the other hand is trying to steal the truth about this. He wants us to think we are to evil to be forgiven so we lose all hope and join him in stead of Jesus.

(Romans 5:2-5) According to this passage why should we rejoice in our sufferings and tribulations? One by one, what is the importance to our lives of: perseverance, tried character, and hope?
They bring us to Jesus. Perseverance: there are only two roads. To walk on the narrow road you need perseverance. It's very difficult but if you don't, you automatically take the broad way. This leads to hell. Tried character: meaning that Satan is fighting to get us of the small road to the broad road. For me, it is very difficult to be nice to nasty people. I easily feel like shouting or being sarcastic. Hope:if we hold on, our hope gets stronger.
4. Abraham is an example of faith. He is justified for his faith and not for what he did (Rom. 4). Most times, Abraham trusted Hashem completely. He left his country on His command to an uncertain future, he knew his wife could have a baby if He said so even though it was biological impossible, he was even willing to sacrifice his son. We are justified for believing in Jesus who died for us. That means that He forgives our sins so we do not go to hell.
5. For the poet, the creation is the prove that Hashem is allmighty. He asks Him to know him and to take care for him.
6. 1 tot 6 is about what He made, 7 to 13 about what He said. The common thread is that it all comes from Him. The poet loves His Word for it is not only rules but also 'a lamp on his path' (Ps. 119). The poet's wonder in creation makes him feel his own nothingness. The poet asks God for a pure hart without sin.
7. "He prayeth well, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all" This Psalm teaches us that Hashem has created heaven and earth. Compared to Him, we are nothing. According to the letter to the Hebrews, He placed the Son in full authority of His creation. Our responsability is to take good care for nature.
8. The thief was just crucified, meaning he was in terrible pain and aware he was dying. Then it is very strange to say you deserved it but another person is innocent. The thief came to full faith that day. He does not confess his sins but he does confess that he has sinned (first part of verse 41). Jesus saw a man who believed in Him so He knew he did not die for nothing. Respectfully, I do not think it comforts you when other people are also tortured just like you.
9. Jesus died for the people who believe Him. He died by the people who did not believe Him. I agree with Janet that Satan is most responsable for inspiring the Romans and the Jews to kill Him and inspiring us to sin. I do not think one can tell who of the earthly persons is most responsable. Thats comparing 'appels and pears' as we Dutch say.
10. Hi, I am Marloes from the Netherlands. I have a masters degree for biology. I do not understand most part of the Bible in Dutch so I hope this course is not to difficult for me.
