  1. Q3. (Luke 9:57-61) Why was Jesus so harsh with those who made excuses when called to follow him? Why is the call so urgent? Why do our excuses seem so trivial when offered to Jesus?

Generally an excuse may say I really don't want to do that(disobedience). Wow! Lord forgive me for doing that. Jesus gave His life for me, Why can't I trust him to handle any situation that may be left undone by me following Him. You know no man knows the day or hour of His return, obedience without thought of results is the best thing to do, He is always faithful to His promises. Oh Lord I desire to be all you have called me to be, please forgive me for my unbelief.

  2. Q2. (Luke 14:15-24) In what way is the Parable of the Great Banquet about grace? In what way is it about judgment? In what way is it about evangelism? To what End Time event does the great banquet point?

Well the invitation was extended to all to attend, the imperfect (grace). Depending on the free will choice to come and attend the banquet or may excuses judgment will come. It is offered to all not just a specific group. We are called to proclaim what the Lord has done for us,be a light to the world.

The marriage supper of the Lamb.

  3. Q4. (Luke 13:18-20) According to these parables in this lesson, in what ways is the Kingdom small? In what ways does the Kingdom grow? In what ways is the Kingdom door narrow? In what way is the Kingdom banquet, on the one hand, large and diverse, and on the other, selective?

There is a specific way to enter the Kingdom. Only one way! through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, that would make it narrow.

The gift Christ gives is open to all peoples which would make it large.

At the beginning of our journey with the Lord after accepting Him as savior and Lord we appear small and defenseless like a new born babe, But as we grow in grace and knowledge of our Savior and we allow the Holy Spirit to take control we become strong and mighty in the Lord and can be used to bring glory and honor to our blessed Savior. The seed grows into a tree the feeds and nourishes others.

  4. Q2. (Luke 13:24-27) Why do you think Jesus characterizes the entrance to the Kingdom here as “narrow”? Why will many people “try to enter and will not be able to”? Why would people delay entering until it is too late?

Because the way of entry is very specific, not just anyone can get in.

Because they do not take His word seriously, and at the last minute they try to enter without a change of heart.

People don't want to give up any of life's pleasures, but they don't necessarily want to miss the invitation just in case!

  5. Q1. (Matthew 18:21-22) Jesus says we must forgive 77 times or 490 times. Should we take these numbers literally or figuratively? If figurative, what are they figurative of? What does this teach us about God’s willingness to forgive us repeatedly for the same sin?

I believe it its figurative,we are to forgive others at the least as much as we have been forgiven. As long as we humbly repent of our sin and ask for forgiveness God will forgive us. That He is so merciful and understands my condition, not accepts it but understands it. Not to mention His great love for me and all people.

  6. Q3. (John 3:5-7) What does it mean to be “born of water and the Spirit”? What do you think “water” refers to? Why have you come to this conclusion? How, then, would you paraphrase “born of water and the Spirit” to best bring out the meaning?

When you accept Christ as your Savior and Lord. You must recognize your need for a Savior and repent of your sin and then the Holy Spirit comes and abide within you.

Regenerating you into a new man(born anew). Also water means the Word. Because the Word says so. These things are a mystery to the natural man, and unless the Lord reveals that truth we have no way of understand. Light and darkness do not mix.

I would call it "Acceptance and the Indwelling".

  7. Q1. (John 3:3, 5) What does Jesus teach here about the nature of the Kingdom of God? Do you think Nicodemus understands him? Why or why not?

You must be born again (anew)to enter the Kingdom. Born of the water and the spirit. There must be a change.

No, Nicodemus knew of the law not of the spirit. His was rules and regulations,You must do this and don't every do that or you would be eternally separated. He had a knowledge of God but not a heart change, there must be a change.

  8. Q4. What does Jesus teach us about the value and worth of the Kingdom? Why are we tempted to value it so little? What helps us to appreciate its true value? How might your testimony help a seeking friend to value the Kingdom more?

    [/quo

He teaches me that it is more precious than gold. There is no earthly equivalent to it.

Because sometimes we forget who we belong to and walk in the carnal man (flesh).

I appreciate it more if I stay in the Word, study it , meditate on it. Hearing it from my Savior when He speaks to me makes it more real and valuable. I believe when I speak from my heart and tell what the Lord has done for me It helps them believe if God does it for me He will do it for them. It increases there ability to believe, to seek His face.

  9. Q3. (Mark 10:22) Why is poverty and self-sacrifice an inadequate religion? Why does Jesus ask the man to follow him? In what senses was this a great privilege that the man was offered? Why did he reject the offer?

With out the shed blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin, all our efforts add up to nothing.

He asks because the word says He loves him.

It would be a glorious thing to learn and walk with the Savior.

Because He liked his position in life.( status, wealth, esteemed by others etc)

  10. Q2. (Mark 10:21) Why do you think Jesus requires the rich young ruler to divest himself of his fortune? Why does this trouble us so much? If there was no other way for the man to be saved, what does that say about the spiritual dangers of wealth?

He wants us to rely completely on Him. Jesus wants all of us. He want to control every area of our lives. I think we feel insecure at first, Its hard to realize that Christ is not like man.

I think it could be considered as stuff, not just money. Possessions, status, reputations, nothing comes before God, especially not SELF! family, job, friends etc. We must fully depend on Him.

  11. Q1. (Matthew 13:44-46) What do the Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price have in common? What is the main point of these parables? How should it affect our values? Our lives?

    [/quo

They both tell of people finding something of great value to them, they are willing to give away or sell everything to possess it.

Nothing is more important then our relationship with Him.

The salvation that comes from accepting Jesus as your Savior is more valuable than anything you could find on this earth.
