  1. Q4. (Luke 17:33-36) What does our passage teach about the separation and judgment that will occur when the Kingdom comes? How should this affect our lives? Our testimony? Our love for our neighbors?

I respond differently to situations if I realize as a child of God that today could be the day, today could be my last day on earth. Things that seemed so important are not anymore, Others become my concern. My Father's will for me takes 1st place. I realize in my humanness I forget, and revert to my old ways. But! as His child I can have the mind of Christ and He will keep me.

  2. Q3. (Luke 17:24-32) What indications does Jesus give in this passage that he will suddenly come in his Kingdom without further warning? What are the implications of this for our attitude? For our lives?

He uses Noah and the flood, as well as Sodom and Gomorrah, both situations came with put warning. They were all going alone living there life's and not noticing what was going on around them. We need to stay alert, watching and waiting for His return. we should live like today is our last day, and I'm sure we would behave differently. What's most important to us would come to the forefront. We must be cautious of the times, Does Jesus have 1st place?

  3. Q3. (Matthew 7:7-8) Why is continual asking, seeking, and knocking so essential to our looking forward to the Kingdom? Why do we give up so easily? How do we gain boldness and persistence in prayer?

Because we must pursue the kingdom, seek after it, long for it etc. Something we desire (want) we go after it.

Not sure, maybe we loose confidence in our request, that God will grant it. We get distracted and off point and forget about, something that seemed so urgent last week is not as bad today?

Boldness comes by believing who our Father is and all His promises to us. I think the word says if we ask and have doubts we will receive nothing.

  4. Q1. (Matthew 6:24) Jesus seems to make it sound like you can’t seek wealth and God simultaneously. Does he really mean this? Is this hyperbole? Figurative? Literal? Can wealthy people serve God in actual fact?

Nothing should come before your relationship with God, not money ,family, job anything! God has 1st place. I believe it is figurative, and yes wealthy people do serve the Lord. It all depends on what you consider wealth? Matt 6:33 says seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things will be added .

  5. Q3. (Matthew 13:23) Even good soil can have factors that hinder growth in various parts of the field, or make some areas grow taller and fuller wheat. What factors make a disciple especially good soil for the growth of the word or message of the Kingdom? What might be the reasons for 30-fold, 60-fold, and 100-fold growth?

Comprehension (understanding) and applying the word of God to this life. You can have one without the other. You must understand and put into practice the word of God to become what God has called for you to be thus you get 100,60,30 fold. You show forth fruit!

  6. Q4. Why is repentance so central to the Kingdom of God? Why is baptism important to converts to the King? Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart?

Because evil can have no relationship with holy. I must recognize my sin and accept His forgivness. Sin can not come into the presence of God.

Baptism is and outward acknowledgment of and inward change, cleansed and made new. I have died on immersion and raised up in Christ, He reigns in me now. Not to mention the Word tells us to do it.

No because a unrepentant heart sees no need for a Savior.

  7. Q2. (Matthew 3:5-10; Luke 7:30) How would John’s baptism have offended a Jew’s national pride? Who welcomed John’s baptism? Who resisted it? Why?

Because they were decendants of Abraham, plus it was done in public. Also it would look like they were the same as the Gentiles (heathens) when the converted to Judaism.

The Jewish people because John reminded them of Elijah. The Pharisees resisted, because they were from the line of Abraham. They thought they didn't need it.

  8. Q1. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repenting of their known sins? Why do people avoid repentance? What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart?

They are unable to enter into the Kingdom, May have a head understanding but not a heart change. Repentance hurts, we must see our error and admit our need for the Savior. I don't know, but I should do a personal fruit check daily.

  9. Exercise. For one of the psalms in this lesson -- or another psalm with a similar theme -- do one of the suggested exercises to help you experience the Psalms (<a href="http://www.jesuswalk.com/psalms/psalms-exercises.htm" target="_blank">www.jesuswalk.com/psalms/psalms-exercises.htm</a>). These include such things as praying a psalm, meditating, reading to a shut-in, paraphrasing, writing your own psalm, singing, preparing a liturgy, and memorizing. Then report to the forum what the exercise meant to you personally or share what you've written with others.

Meditating on psalms 34. This study has been so wonderful. I had an opportunity to teach our adult Sunday school class, it was on 7 Hebrew words for praise. This study was very helpful. The Lord dwelt in the midst of us.

  10. Q4. (Psalm 34:18-22) What encouragement does David give to the brokenhearted? What does it mean that God "redeems" you? How can we avoid condemnation according to Psalm 34:22?

The encouragement is that when you are brokenhearted the Lord is close to you.

He paid my sin debt, so I might have eternal life.

You can avoid condemnation by believing what the Father says about you, not what your carnal mind says.

The Bible has all the directions we need to have a wonderful life, we just need to read it and apply it to this life we have been given by our Father.

  11. Q3. (Psalm 34:1-3) Why should we praise God continually? What are barriers to continual praise? What does continual praise do to our spirit? How are you training yourself to praise continually?

Ps 150:6 says let everything that has breath praise the Lord, It's a command, not a do it if you want to. Sin and disobedience hinder our ability to praise Him, we have to repent first that our ability to praise Him with our whole heart can be continual. I pray the word. Ps 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight.

  12. Q2. (Psalm 118) What does "the stone the builders rejected" (verses 22-23) have to do with the Messiah? What do verses 25-27 have to do with the Messiah?

Jesus is the living stone, sent by the Father so we could have a relationship with Him. His own people rejected Him,they didn't believe He was the Messiah.

The people were asking for salvation(deliverance), the Father sent His Son and verse 27 represents Jesus sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of sins. His shed blood was the ultimate (final) sacrificial offering on the mercy seat.

  13. Then report to the forum what the exercise meant to you personally or share what you've written with others.

    meditating on Ps 32

  14. Q4. (Psalm 51:17) How does one achieve a "broken and contrite heart"? What are the earmarks of this condition? How does this differ from "being sorry" for a sin? How does humility relate to this condition?

By having a humble and repentant heart, who has changed .

physically and emotional crushed, realizing our separation from God because of sin.

Being sorry sometimes seems a little superficial or shallow, sorry because I got caught, not because I've offended my Savior.

I think humility makes a broken or contrite heart realizing what I have done over and over again, realizing my dire need for a Savior. Left to my own devises I am forever lost.

  15. Q3. (Psalm 51:10-12) How is it possible to have a "pure heart" after great sin? What does a "pure heart" consist of? What is the relationship between a "pure heart" (Psalm 51:10) and a "united" or "undivided heart" (Psalm 86:11)? Who purifies the heart? What is the process?

By asking for forgiveness and to have a pure heart before Him.

Cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Pure heart is clean, cleansed from any evil(sin).Undivided heart is completely committed to God and His will. Not drawn or torn by the things of this world.

    God forgives

    recognize my error(sin)

    confess and repent of it

    receive His mercy and forgiveness

    walk in new life(change)

  16. Q2. (Psalm 51:3-6) When David says, "Against you only I have sinned" (4a) is he minimizing his sin against Bathsheba and Uriah? What does he mean by this? When he mentions his sinfulness from before birth is he excusing himself or blaming Original Sin? What does he mean by this?

    No.

He is saying because of my great love for God( profession of). Before I committed the act, even in the planning and thought of it I sinned against you my God.

That I am by nature, have the tendency to, be selfish, self centered, sinful. All by myself i go astray, by my choice.
