  1. when I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord, I then came under the covering/protection of God,words can not express what that means to me, I have life and not death. I can not even comprehend or fathom what my Father has prepared for me in this world and for eternity. My Father goes before me preparing and directing my path, fulfilling the plan that He has for me. He is the author and finisher of my fate.
  2. Abraham refuses because he was a wicked king, and he did not want the king of Sodom to have any claim to him and what would happen in his future. Abraham was faithful to his relationship(covenant) with God. You can't have 2 masters, because you will end up serving one.... All kinds of lessons here, unequally yoked, giving evil authority over you by association or indebtedness. If you hang out with ugly it will eventually get on you.
  3. It showed Abraham was going to honor his commitment to care and provide for his nephew. Abraham was a wealthy and wise man, He had the means and the trained personal to do what ever was called for to rescue Lot. Not to mention God is on his side. He was on good terms with his neighbors, they helped each other out. Stand by what you say,or profess, be faithful to your commitments. Always call out to the Lord for help, be obedient and try to do what is right.
  4. God honored his covenant with Abraham. No, God word says if I'm His child all things work together for my good no matter what they are (wealth or poverty).
  5. God is always faithful to His word (promises, covenant). God stood by His word to Abraham, and he blessed those who blessed him , and cursed those who cursed him.
  6. I think it shows our flawed human nature. We respond to what we see and feel, not what we know( the word, promises of God).I think we work things out in own mind to protect ourself and blame others, when we fall short. No the purpose is to show that God is faithful to His word, He does not change to his surrounding, He is not like us. God is faithful to every last word He has promised, I don't have to worry about it, He is more than trustworthy
  7. They were sick because Pharaoh had taken Abraham's wife. It made Pharaoh take a look at his life and say "what am I doing wrong to cause these problems" ? God wanted Pharaoh to give Sarai back to Abraham. Yes it did, and food for thought I think Abraham left Egypt richer than when he first got there.
  8. He was showing us his need? The bible doesn't really say. This is just a guess maybe it showed his dependence on God for directions, comfort , nourishment. Not to mention, when you love someone you long to be in contact with them. There is security in staying connected to the branch.. I need to be in contact with my Father always, I need Him for every breath I take, He satisfies my soul. It I don't I get lost in this world.
  9. I don't know if I would call it special faith, It is faith, that believes and acts without question. The word says that God is no respecter of person, so I would say what Abraham has I also have available to me. It will always be my choice to be obedient or not. I'm sure I have, and I'm sure I said well let me think about this first, ( wrong)!!!! I am saying now out loud, I will do what God calls me to. There is enabling grace available for each situation, so I can do what He tells me to do.
  10. HE was blessed to be a great nation, Father to many,a blessing to many, a curse to those who curse. Also a relative of Jesus Christ who saves us today. Abraham is also am example of immediate obedience. A man of great faith, believed and acted with out any knowledge of his future, He showed complete trust and dependence on God.
  11. I must say I have started some things believing God had called me to them, but later they fell to the side. I repented of that today, and asked forgiveness of those things. Praying to God that I would do what he calls me to do. Could those times of failing be like when the seed falls on rocky ground?? It doesn't take root, and falls away?? I am striving to be more like Him..
