We can be serious about serving Christ by really caring about what He would desire that we do. If we only do things so that others will praise us or think that we are good we are fooling ourselves. We need to keep our eyes on Him rather than worrrying or thinking about how the world sees us. We can obey the letter of the law and feel that we are in obedience, but if we do not show love or compassion for others we have fallen short. To want to do the right thing is not always easy..but oh what rewwards there are. I think we can be serious about being obedient to God's Word by showing mercy, kindness, compassion, and grace to others. If we only follow the law but forget to love we have missed the mark.

The assurance we have if we sin is that Jesus sits and pleads our case for us as an intercessor, an advocate. The comfort is that we find forgiveness by the love and mercy of Christ, he paid the price for me....it makes one want to avoid sin in order that we retain our fellowship with Christ.

Confession is the act of saying something.....to acknowlege. We need to confess our sins so that we can be real with ourself and in order to have forgiveness we need to be honest. It is easy to try and push the things we do under a rug.....but in order to have forgiveness we need to admit. If we confess our sin God is faithfull to forgive us and cleanse us. If we do not confess our sin, we begin to lose the closeness and fellowship we have with Christ, we become that child who is sneaking away from the parent. Forgiveness is dealing with our personal relationship....God forgives and forgets. Cleanising is an on-going project that deals with our soul and everyday walk.

The result when a christian walks in darkness is broken fellowship....we can not remain in the same relationship if we are staying in sin and then continue to deceive oursleves. If we walk in the light Jesus is faithful and just to forgive our sins, to cleanse us, but we need to confess and go forward. We can not lie to ourselves and others and say we have not sinned. If this were the case then Jesus died for no reason and we know this is not the case. We get back into the light by admitting....confessing our sin, turn them over for forgiveness. We have to be willing to humble ourselves and keep in prayer.

I think that many times we are not as honest in our relationship /fellowship with other believers because we feel like we will be judged, so we keep things on the surface....even as Christians we fear being hurt. We can fellowship at a deeper level when we remember that we are in love with Christ and REALLY WANT to do His will. It takes letting down our guard and letting Christ be the center...not me....
