1. Why do you think Peter first embraced the Gentile beleivers in Antioch and later withdrew from them to eat only with Jews? I believe that Peter embraced the Gentile believers because he experienced the vision of God's acceptance of the Gentile believers. He withdrew later I believe for the same reason he withdrew when denying Christ. Which is intimidation and lack of faith. It seams to matter to Peter what other people think. 2. What does this tell you about his character? At that time it showed that he would bend to the worlds standards to be accepted by the world. Even when he knew the right thing to do. He is very easily pursuaded and didn't seam to have a sure foundation in Christ. 3. Why should he have know better? For one thing he had a vision of God's acceptance of the Gentile believers. Another reason is because he had been taught that and was already practicing it. 4. What does this tell us about Barnebas? That he lacked faith and that he was willing to follow opposition when being opposed even when he knew it was wrong. 5. What does it tell us about the political clout of the visitors from Jerusalem? That they had a stong influence, was intimidating, and like to exercise their political powers onto others. 6. Have you every acted like a hypocite to impress others? I would be lying if I said no. I am most positive that I have and from time to time still do. When we want to be accepted by others and the world it is amazing what we will do to gain the acceptance. I do believe that as I grew and continue to grow in Christ that my weaknesses are few and far between. 7. What should you do when you recover your senses? By all means make correction/reconciliation/applogize etc.

Q4. Why do you think Paul seems to distance himself from the leaders of the Jerusalem church? Why does he at the same time write of their approval of his ministry? How does this further his argument tothe Galatians in this letter? Paul is trying to help the Galatians understand his authoritative position. And his credibility of his information. By both his brothers in Christ (James/Peter/John) and the Jerusalem leades, their acceptance of his teaching and preaching proves to the Galatians, that Paul's teaching of salvation comes directly from Christ Jesus.

Q3. Paul is arguing that the Jerusalem leaders support his position on circumcisioni, rather than that of the Judaizers. What is the significance of Paul's mention that Titus was not required to be circumcised? I believe the significance is that the Jerusalem leaders hadn't required Titus to be circumcised, which supported Paul's position.

Q2 1. What factors in Paul's background made him an ideal apostle to the Gentiles? His past experience of pursecuting other Christians and having devoted himself to traditional Judaism, as well as his encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus, made him an ideal apostle to the Gentiles. 2. How did God use his being different from others? I'm so glad that God is God. To see something different and to use it for the good of others never ceases to amaze me. It seams that Paul was intellegent as he excelled higher than his classmates and had intense enthusiasm to learn more. Having these traits already, allowed God to use him for his purpose. 3. To ponder. How has your unique background fitted you for ministry? I like to look at this way, that God will use every bit of my uniqueness for his glory as long as I'm willing to be used. God has used me in so many different ways in the church to fulfill his mission in the church and the world. As a young mom I didn't think that I could teach children but I was willing. I didn't think that I could write a newsletter for our church, but I was willing. I didn't think that I could run a workshop, but I was willing. I didn't think that I could write a Christmas Play, but I was willing. In high school I hated taken secretarial classes that my Dad made me take. As a result many of my background was used to serve God in church. I did love helping my mom care for children which helped me to care for children in church. I believe that God has given me the uniqueness to help others. I enjoy serving others may it be through cleaning the church, teaching, decorating the church, helping to feed someone, putting gas in someone's car when their out of money etc. I am not always willing, but most of the time I am. When I am not willing I have this conviction in me that happens to stay with me until I transition.

1. What is the source of Paul's gospel? Paul's source is the authoritative revelation of Jesus Christ to him. 2. How do we know that it is a true revelation? As history displays, that our Christian teaching is based on the revelation of the Old Testament Scriptures. On the authoritative revelations of Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus' teachings to the eleven disciples, who were witnesses to his ministry, were transmitted to the church in the gospels and in the epistles. And the independent revelation to the Apostle Paul. As Paul mentions in 1:12 He did not receive it from man and was not taught. "I receive it by revelation from Jesus Christ." 1:15-16 "God....was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles..." 3:23 "Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed." Another thing that stand out for me is that Paul pursecuted other Christians and when he was changed he understood what happened to him and why. And then began preaching salvation. Along with other things that happened to him as well that is how I know it is true. 3. How does it conform to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching? It conforms to our other foundational sources of Christian teaching in that Paul continued to teach what Jesus taught. He did not teach what he wanted. 4. What is the danger of taking the teaching of contemporary leaders as our doctrinal basis without checking it with the scriptures. The dangeer is it could lead you straight to hell. I know I'm straight forward but so is the Word of God. If we take God's Word seriously and check what we are being taught with the WORD we will not be mislead. All in all the Holy Spirit within us has a lot to do with our decernment of false teachers. If you are applying what the Bible teaches.

1. According to verse 4, for what purpose did Jesus give himself? Jesus gave of himself so that we might have life. Life that would free us from the bondage of sin. Life that sustains. 2. How does Jesus rescue people today? He rescues people through his word, through prayer, through our witness, through application, through teaching, others etc. 2. How does He keep people from falling back into their old ways? By Christian mentors being an example and all of the above.

1. Why is repentace so central to the Kingdom of God? Because it is the way into the Kingdom of Heaven. To not repent of your sins is a sign of rebelling against our LORD. It is to say that I don't have to. It is to say that I don't need to listen. It is to say I reject the Son of God etc. 2. Why is baptism important to converts to the King? It is a public show of the one we have accepted. 3. Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart? No. Christ reigns in a persons heart when they have truly accpeted HIM.

1. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repenting of their known sins? When you accept Christ not all of your sins will be known to you. It will be revealed little at a time. But as they are revealed and they are not repented for punishment will take place. 2. Why do people avoid repentance? I'm sure there are numerous reasons why they don't do what they should. Some could be, they like living the way they are living. Their bad habits are hard to break out of. What the Word of God has to say is hard to take. Pride etc. 3. What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart? Wouldn't know the percentage.

1. Why does Paul send Onesimus back to Philemon where he can lose his freedom again? Because reconcilliation is needed and now that he is a new Christian one more added to the family is one more to help with the gospel. 2. Why is it necessary for Paul to do this? To show the love of Christ. 3. Why is it necessary of Onesimus to do this? So he can be a help to spreading the gospel.

1. Why do you think Archippus was singled out in verse 17? Probably because Paul could depend on him and new was serious about his mission. Faithful minister, fellow servant. 2. If you could invent a story of his role in the Colossian church, how would you descibe Archippus? A prayer warrior, someone you could call upon to support in prayer. 3. In what wasy does he remind you of yourself. It does remind me of me but it is convecting me of how I need to be.

1. What guidelines does Paul give us to form our praying habits? Be devoted to prayer, be watchful and thankful. 2. If you put these into practice fully, how would they affect your prayer life? It would draw me closer to God and I would have more faith in what God will do. 3. What problems would they help correct? It would correct my lazyness, I wouldn't fall asleep, and I would be encouraged that God will answer my prayers.

If you put these into practice fully, how would they affect your payer life? Anytime we put the word of God to practice it protects, gives wisdom and peace that surpasses all understanding. 3. What problems would they help correct? When we pray our relationship with Christ becomes more intimate we begin to understand him more. It helps correct problems like going in the wrong direction/doing the wrong things/etc. It encourages to expect answers to our prayers.

1. In what way does obedience prepare a child for everyday life in the future? It keeps them from sin. It teaches them to obey authority. 2. For spiritual life in the future? Growing spiritually will help us become wiser. 3. What can fathers do to keep from discouraging their children? Love them, protect them, teach them etc.

1. In what sense is Christ our Husband as individuals? In the same way we are to submit to our husbands even when we don't like it is the same way we are to submit to Christ. More so he is our creator. 2. As a church? Christ died for us and we are to always reverence his sacrifice for us. 3. What does this say about Christ's responsibilities towards us? That he loves us so much that when we choose to follow him he will take full responsibility for our care.

1. In what sense is a husband's care for his wife's needs just common sense in taking care of his own needs? It's common sense in the sense that by caring for your wife's needs will bring her confidence to depend on his leadership and joy as she pleases him (cares for him). By following the commands of the Lord will bring joy to the household and everyone's needs will be met. 2. What is the principle from Genesis 2:24 that underlies this? The principle is that mothers are the ones who care of their children (sons). When husband and wife are joined together the wife takes over the responsibility of the mother and cares for her husband as the mother cared for her son.

1. Does being head of the wife involve being "boss"? No. 2. Why or why not? The husband is to love the wife the way Christ loves the church. 3. What does being "head" require of a husband? He needs to be the source, provider, sustainer, source of unity source of growth. Ruler also in the context of this service. The husbands love should be the same as Christ. 4. What is the example husbands are to follow in headship? He is to lay down his life of his wife and family. He is to serve not be served.
