Q4. Legalism and the Sinful Nature
sylverd replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Freedom from Legalism (2:6-23)
They are unable to restrain the sinful nature because their focus is not on a personal relationship with Christ but rather works governed by human rules. Our faith is the alternative to legalism. He forgave us all our sins having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness ...He has taken it away nailing it to the Cross!! -
Q3. Nailing the Law to the Cross
sylverd replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Freedom from Legalism (2:6-23)
God sent Jesus to be the proxy for us and our sins, unrepentent hearts. When Jesus died on the cross and then was ressurected He fullfilled the prophesy and we were see free from the letter of the law and bondage of sin. The cross symbolizes our covenant with Christ. My mother just shared something so incredible and I want to share it with you. When Christ died he fullfilled the law and that part was finished (completed) then the cross came alive to continue to do its work and it still continues to do its work!! For some this may be a hard concept to grasp, but I look at it this way: The cross (symbol) is a reminder to us that Christ was nailed to this glorious cross and when His body was nailed to it, all of our sins at that momement transferred to it once Christ was received unto His Father. The cross remains, doing its job, what it was meant to do and the Holy Spirit is with us to keep us until we are also brought unto our Father!!! Thus, the cross is doing its job by triumphing over evil spiritual forces for our sakes! -

Q1. False and Deceptive Philosophy
sylverd replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 5. Freedom from Legalism (2:6-23)
You know its funny... When I began with this lesson this morning even before I had read this question, I was asking the Lord why I had not fallen for other doctrines n my life time as other have before and currently? I mean I sure have had the opportunity and for these doctrines to present themselves to me...I can ever remember a very good friend of mine in college was a buddhist and she took me to one of their chanting sessions. I remember vividly (this was over 15 years ago!!) watching all of these people sitting still chanting to this big big gold buddah which sat in the middle of this incredibly beautiful hollywood hills home type mansion and i sat next to a window and watched them and at times chanted what they chanted...but all the while i was internally thanking the Living God for his presence in my life!!! The HOly Spirit gently told me that he has abided in me because I have remained in Him!! So to sum it all up, Christ has always been a part of my life because we have a relationship!! He is just now something I picked up along the way or someone I pray to everyother day. He is my father, my provider my friend my companion... I look to him and always have... -
