  1. My name is marie I am originally from Denver Colorado but I have been living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for about ten years! I was raised Methodist but in my early teens I changed to non denominational. I did not want to be a "religious" believer with a label but wanted to experience a true relationship with Christ. Since then I have enjoyed being a member of a spiritfilled church that embraces the gifts of the spirit.
  2. From the onset. Even though Jacob has been a deceiver he knows God and trusts him. His faith is firm. In Deut 8:14 God warns his people about becoming proud. Sometimes we people get this I did it all my self attitude and its all about me. We forget that it is by God's hand that all blessings flow and not just by our own hand. We are merely the vessel in which God uses us to complete that very thing, whether it be material, spiritual or physical. God is always at the center of it all. Thank you Dear Lord for my increase and the prosperity(the ability to provide for my family, pay my bills, enjoy leisure time and above all serve your sheep) in my life which have come are coming and will come.
  3. I believe this was God's way into build Jacob into a more understanding person. Jacob had deceived his brother and God wanted him to see what it is like when someone takes something away that belongs to you. When Jacob deceived his brother I dont think he understood the ramifications from that, Jacob just wanted what he wanted with out giving thought to his brother's feelings. Now Jacob is in that same position and he now understands that when you are promised something and the other person does not deliver it hurts. Of course we know that what Jacob "did" was in line with God's purpose, but thats not why Jacob robed his brother, he did it for pure greed, but God used that flaw for God. Now God is transforming his servant to become that which he created and Jacob is learning exactly how to love the Lord and others thru God's Grace and therefore mightily blessed for his love and faith in God
  4. I dont know that we have to "excuse" it. As a mother, you want the best for your children. I believe Rebekah wanted her son to know what God had spoke over her son. She did what most of us do as christians, we get in our own way and God's way- which is us foolishly believing that God needs OUR help! Jacob is only being obedient to his mother which is what a good son does. Would God's prophecy to Rebekah have been revealed if Rebekah and Jacob would not have intervened/ Absolutely!! Because God can do anything but fail! He is omnipresent and already knew the outcome before his words even touched Rebekah's ear!
  5. Yes indeed i beleve she was. How could she not of been, knowing that she was unable to have children, yet all the while her determined faith led her to her greatest reward being the obedient child and receiving what was promised to her in a big wa!! Isaac was also very spiritual. He knew God in a very personal way and as that relationship evolved with his Creator he gained more understanding of his purpose his growth spiritually and how the two would lead him to great prosperity. Jacob and Esau both were very spiritual I just think that were different in character different in the way that they obtained their spirituality. To site from the word: Gen 32:9-12 Jacob meets his brother for the first time in years and feared he would kill him due to Jacob taking his birthright, but to the contrary Esau accepted Jacob with open arms Gen 33:4! Oh how all things come to gether to them that love the Lord!1
  6. Selling the birth right represented I believe the covenant that we have with those we love and who love us. Issac was raised knowing his faith and wanting to share that faith with his children. I believe because the firstborn child is first, he inherits all the promises that go with that. I think Esau just didnt "get" it. His mind was mainly focused on the tangible things of his life. I also believe that God already knew that, as Psalm 139 so beautifully states, "You knit me together in my mother's womb" God informed Rebekah in order fulfill that prophecy. Indeed Jacob is the father of Isreael! Jacob's wants to be obedient to God and his character may be a trifle suspect but his heart is always in the right place!!
