  1. Q5. (Romans 6:18-22) In Paul's analogy in these verses, is there a place of independent freedom apart from "slavery" to sin or to Christ? According to these verses, We have no independent freedoms. It is we are either a slave to God or to Sin. A. Why do we long for this kind of independent freedom? We long for this kind of freedom because we are human. God gave us the ability to choose right from wrong, and because of this we don
  2. Q4. (Romans 6:17b) How does good doctrine affect the way we live? We all, whether we want to admit it or not, must have a doctrine to live by. Whether that doctrine is of God or Satan is our choice. If we choose the God doctrine we live a life of righteousness. We do what is right by God. If we choose Satan we must be able to live with the consequences that this type of life brings us. A. Why should we honor good doctrine? We should honor the Good doctrine because The Good Doctrine is the Way the Truth and the Light. B. If we shouldn't look down on doctrine itself, what kind of teaching should we be avoiding? We should avoid the teachings of Satan.
  3. (Romans 6:15-18). What does obedience have to do with slavery? Obedience is an act of slavery to the extent that we obey God. When we obey God we become His slave. A. In what way does doing acts of righteousness demonstrate your slavery to God? Just as above, when we do right by God we become His slave. B. In what ways does doing bad things demonstrate a slavery to sin? Because when we do things wrong we become a slave to sin. C. How is such a slavery or bondage broken? By doing the will of God we can break the bonds of sin. D. What part does obedience have in breaking this bondage? Obedience to God has always been the breaking of the bondage of sin. E. In what areas is God speaking to you about a fresh obedience in your life? My language sometimes is not very pleasing to God, and also my attitude. Sometimes, I get frustrated and then I take out my frustrations on whoever is in my vicinity.
  4. To "reckon" with something is to come to terms with it. By all accounts everybody is born into a sinful world. When we consider this and we accept by faith that we can be freed by our faith in Christ we will forever be trying to come to terms or question everything that we do.
  5. Our sin is like a slave to us, therefore we are powerless to do anything about it until we are freed by our faith in Christ's crucifixion. He was crucified for our iniquities (sins)and until we come to terms with this fact, we are powerless to do anything about it. When we are baptised we put our sins off onto Christ. That is what His death did for us. Now we must take this another step and we ourselves need to pray and ask Christ to forgive us of our sins. That is the only way to beat our struggles against temptations.
  6. Buried is correspondant to being emmerced in Water. Christ being raised from the dead is correspondant to raising from the water, a new life in Christ.
  7. The sense baptism brings about in our union with Christ is that when we are baptised, we are immerced in the water with our old life and then we come back up in our new life. It is the ACT of Being Born Again!!!
  8. (Romans 6:2-5) According to this passage, at what point do we move from being under the headship of Adam to the headship of Christ? When we are baptized, we are under the headship of Christ. A.Is there anything we must do to bring about this change in headship? Become one with Christ. Believe and be baptized.
  9. 2.(Romans 5:13, 20) What is Paul saying in these verses? He is saying that because sin entered the world God had to enforce a Law, to make us accountable for our sins. A. Can there be sin without law? Yes, such as in the times between Adam and Moses, Death was the law. B. In what sense does the
  10. The first thing that comes to my mind is the Husband. He has the family looking toward him for answers. 2nd is the President of the United States, who has his whole country looking toward him. CEO's of companies.
  11. A. (Romans 5:1-2) According to verses 1-2, faith is a key to salvation. For Abraham (4:3) what was the relationship between faith and justification? Abraham was justified by faith. Paul is saying that if we want to be justified by faith we simply have t have faith in God. We have to BELIEVE that God is our Father and that His Son, Jesus, was sent not to condemn the world but to save it. B. For us (5:1-2), what is the relationship between faith and justification? If we believe that Jesus is God
  12. We are to be cautious in ordaining people in Church because you don't know enough about them. If you take your time and get to know the person you might nnot think he/she is worthy of this office. If we jump to quick in replacing these people we might just pick someone who is worse than the other person. Take time to know people beforee you place them in office. You don't want to repeat the same performance down the road of the false teachings...
  13. It was necessary to make formal accusations and "try" the false teachers to show that it would not be tolerated. Some people think that just because they are elders, preachers and such that they can HIDE behind their title. Because back in their days the church members were able to use harsh punishment. We live in a society, I hate to say, that condones such actions. People who are rapists, child *********** and such get by with it because we don't have in place the right Judges to judge them. It is a slap on the wrist and "don't do that" or "he/she was such a good person" when deep down they knew they were guilty. Then you have some people that were wronged who give up after the first two or three court cases, because of the stress it puts on them...The churches are so watered down that they simply forget that they are in a House of God. "Noboody will miss this if I take it"... "You won't tell on me because I am a man of God and nobody will believe you"...This is what goes on every day in the big and small churches of today...
  14. Elders are to be compensated by renumeration of thier work, by DOUBLE HONOR. Luke 10:7 is the Scriptural support for this, as well as numerous scriptures in the Old Testament.
  15. We are to show respect for the aging family members. We, as Christians, are to do this in repayment for all the love and support we got from them when we were young. Just think of all the times your parents and grandparents stayed up late at night with you when you were sick, when you had a test or something that you just needed to talk to them about. Those who refuse to do this are as unbelievers.
  16. Jesus teaches us that His Kingdom is far better and worth more than anything we could imagine. I think we tend to value it so little because it is something that we can't physically see. Only in our death will we be able to value it for what it is worth. My testimony is that I never stop seeking and learning about Jesus and His Kingdom. The more I study the Bible the more I can, in my mind's eye, see my Lord and His Kingdom.
  17. The verses are reflective of the theme of "Go ye therefore and teach all nations..." The wise men came from afar, therefore that proclaims the Go ye therefore...! We are to go out proclaiming the gospel and teaching the way of the light!!!
  18. The gifts the Magi bring to the Christ child, tho extravigent for a child, were appropriate for a king. If thee gifts they bought were an indication, then this was a big deal in their hearts. We are to give nothing but our ALL! All we have to offer...
  19. We learn that it doesn't matter who you are this is the Messiah. He is worthy of the most high honor. Humble yourself. Praise His Holy name. We all sing about these in praises to the King. The significanse of this is that they know who this baby is. They were told by others that this would take place. We emulate this worship by our praises and our knees bowing before the King.
