  1. Q3. (Hebrews 4:8-11) What do you think the writer of Hebrews means by this promise of "rest" for the believer? Why does the writer urge us: "Make every effort to enter that rest"? What is the difference between apostasy from Christ and the kind of falling into sin that all Christians experience from time to time? Rest in Jesus, knowing that Jesus is the One who has provided everything we need through His death on the cross. No more worrying-trust in Jesus to take care of us. If we are given new life in Jesus, then we can't be worried, or afraid. Trust in Jesus is part of the life of a believer! Having confidence in Jesus to do what He says He will do. This is a struggle for us humans-we want "instant potatoes" faith. "Name it, claim it". Apostacy is wanting to hear what we want to hear-falling into sin is subtly falling into sin, and then denying that it is sin. We need to renew our minds each and every day. We can't let our guard down, because of what Ephesians chapter 6 talks about. The devil is a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour-that's us!
  2. Q2. (Hebrews 3:12-14) What is the importance of faith in our relationship to Christ? How does sin trick us? How does it harden us? What is the value of Christian fellowship to keep our faith strong? Our faith is all we have. We have never seen Christ-all we have is His word. If we don't renew our faith each day, and if we don't fill our senses with godly things and people, the devil will sneak in unaware, and we will go down! We can not afford for even a second, to allow the devil a place. He doesn't need much place either! We must stay vigilant! He roams about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour-that is us!
  3. Q1. (Hebrews 3:6b) Why is the writer exhorting his readers to "hold on" to Christ? Why must we continue in our faith? According the writer of Hebrews, what happens if we don't? What happens if we don't hold on to Christ? We lose hope! We are no longer confident in our salvation! Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
  4. Q5. (Hebrews 2:16-18) Why in God's plan did Jesus have to become human like us? How does his humanity provide encouragement and help to us when we are in trouble? Jesus became human like us, so that He could know how we feel about trials and tribulations. He knows what we are going through, and therefore, can comfort us as we need to be comforted. That is why it should be easy for us to come to Him for help, and we need not be afraid, because He is not some cold, disinterested tyrant, who doesn't care how we feel. He loves us, and waits for us to call out to Him, so that He can help us!
  5. Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15? In what sense is this mission accomplished? In what sense will it see its final completion in the future? What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment? He died to defeat the devil! We are no longer afraid of death-it no longer has a hold on us! The devil and his cohorts will be thrown into the lake of fire! When we give ourselves to Jesus, our conscience is cleared, and we are no longer under condemnation-we are free!!! Glory to God!
  6. Q3. (Hebrews 2:10) What does it mean, to bring many sons and daughters "to glory"? In what sense did Jesus become "perfect" through suffering? What are the implications for our own lives? Jesus was perfect-He needed no cleansing. But, we did! He was our example. He suffered to show us that we can come through and live a victorious life! Follow Jesus-do what He did. He was obedient, and He loved without measure. He gave everything for us, in order that we could have what He has! That is what we can do-be obedient, and love without measure! Be like Jesus!
  7. Q2. (Hebrews 2:9) In what way did Christ "taste death for everyone"? Why is this so dependent upon God's grace? If Christ died for your blackest and most stubborn sins, what are the implications for you? Jesus died on the cross for us all. He defeated death, so that we would no longer be afraid of it. AND-after He died, He went to the Father, and so will we! God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Hi shall not perish, but have everlating life! That, Folks, is grace! We don't desearve it, but He did it anyway! Gloray! Therefore, we need to give the Lord everything that we have, cause if it weren't for Him, we would be hell-bound! I got to go shout-Bye!
  8. Q1. (Hebrews 2:9) In what ways did Jesus suffer during his life and death? In what ways are we likely to suffer? Does suffering have any value? What happens when we live in such a way to avoid all suffering? Jesus experienced the same problems, temptations, and trials that we go through-all without sinning! we may suffer persecution (it has already begun) because of our faith in Jesus. Suffering builds character-godly character. It builds strength and courage. We must know for sure what we believe and Who we believe in! When we avoid suffering, we build on a weak foundation. There is nothing there to keep us grounded in what we believe, so when problems come, we are weak, and can not hold on!
  9. Q4. (Hebrews 2:3b-4) In what way has the truth of salvation been confirmed to you? Would signs and wonders help or hinder establishing the truth of Christ's ministry today? From which portion of the Bible have you formed your opinion of the value of signs and wonders today? I have the Comforter with me, and He teaches me, and lets me know when I mess up. Signs and wonders would only serve to entertain the masses. Humanity would want more signs and wonders, and less of Jesus. In the gospels, where Jesus is healing, and driving out demons, there are more and more people following Him. Some want their share, some want to criticize(sp), and some are just observing. And, of course, some are receiving salvation.
  10. Q3. (Hebrews 2:1) In what ways are we not immune to drifting away from the gospel? According to the author, how can we successfully resist the tendency to drift? How did Jesus describe this phenomenon of "drift" in the Parable of the Sower? If we don't pay attention to the gospel, we will drift away. Giving heed to what we have heard-study, meditate, ponder. Because the word that was sown couldn't take root-in other words, there was no studying, meditating, or pondering-there was drifting.
  11. Q2. (Hebrews 1:2-3) What about the author's description of the Son makes you think that the Son described is himself divine? What role does the Son have in doing the Father's will according to these verses? Jesus is the brightness of God's glory. He is a "clone" of God-express image of God Jesus makes sure that all things go according to the word, and He, Himself obeyed that all-powerful word!
  12. Q1. (Hebrews 1:2) In what way do you think the author of Hebrews is using the word "Son"? As a metaphor? As a biological relationship? How would a Son's words have more weight than a prophet's? God sent Jesus as His "ambassador"-His spokesperson. Jesus represented Father God. I think Jesus is spoken here, as Son of God the Father. Verse two speaks of Jesus as being "appointed heir of all things". That, to me, speaks of "son"-An heir would be a child-a son.
  13. Hi! I have been studying through this web site for about two and a half years. I was out for a while, cause I was off the net, but I am back, and I can't wait to get started again! I love Jesus with all my heart, and I couldn't get through my days without Him-I'm so glad I don't have to!
