  1. It's hard to confront people that you like, especially people that stroke our egos. And it may be hard for some of us who are people pleasers, those of us who have a hard time saying "no". It's uncomfortable and hard to do. A fear might be that members might leave the church, and financial responsibilities wouldn't be met. Confrontation would be beneficial if it was directed by God but also if the church needed new direction, if they were headed down the wrong path, needing a new vision. When we refuse to confront, like you said in your notes, we lose our sense of direction and unity. We become a sojourner, wandering aimlessly with no purpose. Reliant K has a song about his grandfather as he is about to die and he is looking back over his life. At one point in the song it states "if life was a highway I was drunk at the wheel". For me, that summs it up pretty well, and i can relate.
  2. Moses was just reacting without putting any thought behind his actions. I think Moses was angry since he was yelled at by the israelite foreman, who probably feared more beatings, and instead of placing that anger where it belonged(pharoah), Moses took it out on God. Even though he has walked some with God he still doesn't get who God is, as well as his own identity, because he doesn't seem to fear him. God had to command them to do it because they weren't motivated enough to do it on their own. If your kid steals a candy bar and they wont return it, you make sure they do because you're a good parent and do the right thing. Another thing i wanted to mention is that the situation was getting uncomfortable for Moses and Aaron and they were looking for the easy way out, the nearest exit.
  3. I think the reason we hesitate when called to obey is because of our own sinful natures as well as believing the lies that satan tells us. If God's plan fits in with our to do list and how uncomfortable that choice will be also weighs in. Before you know it, we're asking ourselves if that was really God talking and we start making excuses. Its like joyce meyer says, "We do it afraid". It feels good to be used by God. We don't want to not act and extinguish the spirit within us. We look up fear in the back of the bible and meditate on the corresponding scriptures, we speak out those scriptures, saying it like its already been done thanking God. We spend time in prayer. Well trusting God when you are afraid shows you the character of God. You have to take baby steps before you can run. It's the small steps that build our confidence, not only in ourselves but in God. Leaders are ready to put God's will into action and they've had alot of confidence building experiences along the way. The cost is great, but they can handle it, they've had to climb mountains and difficult terrains but they can see their reward now. If it wasn't for climbing the hills they would've never been able to make it up the mountain.
