  1. that we are doing good but for what. for the reward or the good of GOD. we may start out with all the good intensions and get to involved into the planning that we forget why we started it in the first place. next thing you know the planning becomes more important than anything else. now you're not even thinking of GOD anymore just achievement. then you'll realize it if paying attention when things start going wrong. STOP and talk to GOD. he'll redirect you. i recieved a good dose of that this morning.
  2. without thinking i fall into that catagory with my daughter's future. preparing for it and making sure that she has all the necessary tools to go to college.(grades, community service etc.) been pushing real hard. she's even at the point of not wanting to hear anything more about it. i pray to the Lord and ask him to take the reins on my life but when it came to hers i didn't i took over not even thinking. i'm glad for today's lesson to show meand my daughter the way.he has helped up to here dispite me. thankyou Lord
  3. In what way does bad-mouthing a neighbor cause you to be a judge of the law? you are giving your oppniion, when most of the time you don't have all the facts. in doing this you give other people ideas that may lead to punishments undeserving. also GOD is the only one that is suppose to stand in judgement. Why is it tempting to bad-mouth others,do you think? maybe it makes you look better, it avoids people from talking about you.but remember whatever you give you shall recieve.
  4. Verses 7-10 contain 10 different commands. it's alright to be proud of the lord but not of yourself, for that is a reward. Why are these actions so vital? you're suppose to be thinking of the lord not yourself. GOD gives out the rewards, not you In what way do they go against our nature? it's human nature to feel good for doing something righteous. Which of these commands is most difficult for you? the one most difficult for me is changing my laughter to morning and joy to gloom. how can you get anyone to listen to you if you're in that type of mood. i want all to see how happy i am being with and knowing GOD, and that they can be the same.
  5. Why does James refer to church members as "adulteresses"? What does the adultery consist of? Who is the aggrieved husband? What is wrong with friendship with the world? God is considered the bridegroom and we the people the bride. By not doing out of love for the groom (GOD), but for our own pleasure it's like committing adultery against your husband.(GOD) Pleasure seeking being the person you do it with(adultry) against your husband(GOD).
  6. Is God against pleasure? NO! he's not against all pleasures. I guess it depends what you consider to be a pleasure. If it belittles, hurts or takes away from someone else then yes GOD is against it. What wrong in living to increase one's pleasure? You'll get your pleasure if you deserve it. You don't have to go working towards it. GOD always gives you what is right including pleasure. If all you do is for pleasure than you are looking for a reward. If you get your reward now than you've already got it.
  7. With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? -it starts with loving GOD, then sharing that love with all that you meet. in diffrent ways, whatever thiers need or needs happen to be. including showing them thier way to salvation Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? -once they see that someone cares for them, then they'll listen to you (this doesn't always happen with the 1st try. some take longer than others. don't give up!) -once this person or people listen then they'll be the ripened crop. then they'll be spreading the seed of GOD to others. In whom does this crop grow? -yourself--those you've affected--those they've affected--etc.
  8. In what ways are "bitter envy" and "selfish ambition" (3:14) direct opposites of "humility" (3:13)? How does denial of "bitter envy" and "selfish ambition" prevent healing? How does boasting about these prevent healing? if you have bitter envy and or selfish ambition 1st you care what others think of you and what you can get out of it. with humility it doesn't matter how you're forseen. the only thing that matters is how GOD sees you.
  9. it's backed up by the devil. it doesn't think before it (blurts out) speaks. once you truly believe in GOD and Jesus being our saviour, the tongue doen't feel like it has to defend the person behind it anymore (always without thinking)
  10. Why does James discourage people from aspiring to be teachers of the Word? Why is greater strictness appropriate? what i think james is saying that you are now teaching others. you'd better know what you're talking about. for these people you're teaching don't know and will take you on your WORD (all of them) which could lead them in the wrong direction. Should you set higher standards for your pastor than you do for yourself? YES even though they're human and can make mistakes. because in the past i stopped going to church (this lasted for 5 years)(and i'm the one that kind of leads the family towards GOD, so it wasn't just me that was lost now ) because of the way a priest handled something that was very dear to me. i didn't stop to think of him being human, i was vunerable at the time and hurt.( a great time for the devil to jump in )
  11. What is the difference between the "belief" of a demon and the "belief" of a practicing Christian? The "belief" of a non-practicing Christian? DEMON: they know that Christ exists and don't care, will do what they think is best for them PRACTICING CHRISTIAN: they believe in Christ all the way. and with that care for everyone as well. and will do what they can because of it. NON-PRACTING CHRISTIAN: they call themselves Christians but don't truly believe in Christ. only when it's convient to them. comes to the same as the demon (SELFISHNESS)
  12. How does James' point about the necessity of works jive with Paul's emphasis on salvation by grace without works (Ephesians 2:8-10)? james is saying that once you are reborn, that you will willingly do things to be helpful (from your heart and soul) paul is saying that all the good deeds in the world won't get you anywhere if you're doing it to get yourself a seat in heaven.
  13. Sunday's question; In what sense is faith dead if it is unaccompanied by action? In what sense might (if that were possible) it be alive? like it said in yesterday's gospel of matthew; would you keep your lantern(light) under a rock? what would be the purpose of that. no one would still be able to see. Jesus'(teachings) is the lantern(knowing and believing in) GOD is the light. not sharing Jesus' teachings is not being a disciple. GOD wants us all to be disciples and share the lantern so all may see (be out of the dark- by not knowing of GOD and about him) Monday's question; To what degree are we responsible for the poor and needy in the church community? How about our responsibility for those outside the church, in the community at large? to the degree that we're doing what we can. DIDO!
  14. Q4. (2:13b) In what way is showing regard towards the wealthy (2:2-3) a denial of mercy? again it's letting you think that you can be the judge. besides everyone is created equal. just someone happens to be poor,cripple,disformed...etc. they don't deserve our mercy.WRONG maybe they could use it more. Read Hosea 6:6 all the gold in the world is not a good offering if you treat people like dirt. people are GOD's children. and whatever you do onto them you do onto me. Matthew5:7; do onto others as you would have them do onto you Matthew9:13 we need to be merciful to the sinners; that's what it's all about. helping the ones that need help, In what way does mercy "triumph over" or "rejoice against" judgment? What does this mean? it's easy to do something for someone that won't fight with you, that's kind or that will pay you for it (by money or favor etc..) or will appreciate it. the sinners take a little more gumtion to approach. but the reward of seeing them saved is much larger than the other rewards.(even if it's harder to achieve)
  15. the mosiach law was written in a way to suit the writers.example GOD said that when you leave your parents and get married then the 2 of you are now one. and will be together forever. yet in the mosiach laws the people haunted moses long enough until he wrote that you can get a divorce if your spouse is commiting adultry. made to order. "The Royal Law" are the 10 commandments peroid. no if ands and buts.
  16. sorry but Sunday's are to busy a day for me to have the chance to get to the computer. but i don't want to miss the 1st question. hope no one minds if i answer it on Mondays. thank you What kind of person or what kind of sinner do you tend to discriminate against? i'm being more cautious about my thoughts these days. but in the past i couldn't understand how a person could be dirty or smell. What kind of people are you (or your church) trying to make a good impression on? A i'm trying to help anyone that will let me. even if i have to take verable abuse. B as for my church that depends what you mean. if you mean where i go on Sundays they seem to want to help anyone of the same denomination. C if you mean the church i believe in (which is the church of GOD) same as A D see i go to church and teach at a catholic parish yet i go to a baptist women's bible study. i also communicate with proestians,hindu,budist,...non be- lievers,etc..i just feel i belong to the church of GOD In what way does favoritism make one a judge? showing and believing that one is better than an other. in GOD's eyes we are all equal. How does favoritism make one a judge with "evil thoughts"? 1st that you have the power to judge(that's GOD's job) 2nd that you treat people diffrently according to how you feel about them.
  17. it reminds me of the parable of the 2 sons. the 1st son said he wouldn't do what the father wanted yet thought about it and changed his mind. and the second son who said anything that would please his father, but didn't do what he said he'd do. both spoke to soon. neither doing what they said. give your mind the time to process. you'll be surprised as to what you will do if you think about it. also talk is cheep like the second son the father(in heaven) knows the truth, so you're not fooling him.
  18. What is this "perfect law" that James mentions? How would you define it? How does it relate to the "royal law" (2:8)? In what sense does it bring liberty? the law of GOD! the law that says believe in me and let GOD take the reins. he won't steer you wrong. as for the royal law if you think good of yourself then it will also work. but i remember a time when i thought myself not worthy of anything good.( before i truly believed in GOD) and i didn't care what happened to me . then that law wouldn't be to good. the devil can't be involved in the law what-so-ever. the royal law (human law) has a large enough crack for the devil to squeeze in.
  19. (1:22) Why are we so easily fooled into thinking that listening to Bible teaching means that we are living out righteous lives? What is the nature of the self-deception? thinking that we're being righteous just we go to church every sunday, or we obey the commandments etc. but if you don't believe in GOD, truly believe in him all your good deeds will get you no where. GOD is what it's all about period! believe in him and you won't have to sweat the rest of it.
  20. In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the "word of truth"? What does spiritual life have to do with the Word? at 1st there was the word; even before anything else. believing anything and everything that GOD tells you. how can you have spiritual life if you don't believe his WORD ? the word is him, believe the word and you believe in him.
  21. What is the promise to claim in verse 5? What is the condition attached to this promise in verse 6? How do trials help us receive this wisdom? -like i said yesterday if you don't understand then ask GOD and he'll let you know in his own way. -yet when you do find out don't doubt the answer. saying that can't be why. -by learning by our mistakes
  22. how do trails help us of doublemindeness? how do traild help in our faith? if everything you asked for from GOD were granted, then all would become equal. and you might think that GOD was a puppet and you the puppeteer. nothing would be special and you would be the decider. this is not so. GOD knows what's best not us. for he knows all. he has a plan for everything that's done or not done. so whenever or not we sit to think about the results. this is how we grow in our faith by analyzing.GOD won't lead us in the wrong direction. if you don't understand the why ask him he'll inform you. as for the last 2 questions i answered them but i guess i didn't do it correctly, sorry but today i asked GOD to help me figure it out and here i am.
