  1. 1 Because they killed his brothers. 2 At that time he was fulfilling his obligations. 3 It prohibits Christians because God said "vengeance was his and that He would repay".
  2. 1 They didn't help because they didn't beleive God was with Gideon and that they couldn't stop the Midianites. 2 Because the two cities feared the Midianites more than they trusted God. 3 They didn't show hositality to their kinsman and sinned against the covenant of God. 4 God gave the land to all the people and told them all to defend it. So yes, because they didn't give them food they rejected God's word. 5 Yes, when people are hurting or in need and come to us that are christians and we turn them away in fear of the trouble they could cause us until the situation is resolved
  3. 1. So that they didn't regroup and come back to kill them. 2. By dealing only half-way with a problem we give the problem time to strenghen and come back in a stronger force than before.
  4. 1. To stop the Midianites at the Jordan river. 2. They are angry because Gideon didn't call them to help in the begining. 3. To push your own accplisments to the wind and give all credit to God for His glory.
  5. 1. So that can surround the camp and appear as a large army. 2. To confuse and disorient the enemy. 3. Because it was God's plan and not mans.
  6. 1 The rolling barley loaf meant distruction and capture. 2. So that Gideon would really know that God was with him and also to strenghen his faith.
  7. The kneelers had their face in the water while the lappers were upright and could see what was going on around them.
  8. 1. Because if it makes sense it will be easy for to accomplish. 2. The spiritual danger is that we will trust in ourselves instead of God. 3. When God calls us to do something and we we're afraid to try, going to spiritual people of discernment that we know we can trust will strenghenour faith in God and His way.
  9. 1. The army was to large for God to deliver the enemy into their hands. 2. By shrinking the army to a small band the Israelites couldn't boast about their strengh. 3. He feared they all would die and that everyone would see him as foolish. 4. He was able to obey fully because he knew God, believed and trusted Him completely.
  10. 1. He put the fleece out twice to make sure that what he was told was from God. 2. Belief. 3. No. We all get ideas but some are our own some are from satin, but most are from God. We ask for a sign just to be sure we are in the will of God. 4. Sinful testing is sinful. 5. When your testing with the word of the Lord but your not sure. 6. The danger of demanding a sign is you show your unbelief.
  11. 1. He was inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2. What Gideon had in common was he was filled with the Holy Spirit.
  12. 1. Not a good one because he allowed the worship of other gods. 2. Gideon's actions made his father chose and defend the Lord Amighty. 3. No, because God told him what to do. To think of the impact on his father would have put his father above God. 4. He had to put God before all else. 5.He realizes that Yahweh is real and says that if Baal and the Aserah pole are reaal gods that they can defend themselves as Yahweh did.
  13. 1. The strategic significance of God's command was to get rid of the other gods so that he could worship The Lord properly. 2.He is to build an alter to the Lord Almighty. 3.The risks involved were that he could be attacted and killed. 4.He does it at night in fear of his father and the other Isrealites. 5.To me the action of the night mission was a sign of both weakness and faith. By doing it at night it showed weakness through but a smart move. But by actually doing it he showed faith.
  14. 1.God seen Gideon as a mighty warrior. 2.Gideon seen himself as being weak. 3.God's preception is the most accurate. 4.Some of us see purselves as small and of no importance, but others look at themselves as more important than they are. We are God's servants but we are also friends of Jesus. 5.God's answer to Gideon was that He would be with him. 6.God give me the faith in myself that you have in me. Teach me to know that you are always with me and that I can win the battle through you. Amen
  15. 1. He told the lord that He forsaken them and handed them over to the Amorites. 2.No, He had been with them, they were the to forsake God. 3. We blame God I feel because it's easier then looking at our own blame. 4. The danger is that we lose sight of God and satin can get in and take over. We stop short by rememering that God is not the fault,we are, and to read and learn through His word that He is always with us to guide and protect if we listen.
  16. 1. The reason for Israel's opressed state is they did do what they were told. 2. Thou shall not have NO other gods before me. 3. They worshiped the gods of the Amorites. 4. We put other things before God, like money, material things, family, jobs ect.
  17. This prayer of surrender is difficult to prayer because I'm afraid I won't be able to measure up to what is expected of me and because I'll find out just how sinful I really am. The first time I prayed this kind of prayer was tonight. I don't know the result yet, but I feel a whole lot better then I did before and I'm finally able to get back to my studies . Thank you Lord God.
  18. Knowing God's involvement encourages me because I now know that I wasn't an accident and that he has a wonderful plan for my life if I will stop long enough to find out what it is. If all woman were taught this message before they got pregnant there would be no need for aborsion clinics. They would look at the life inside as a gift and not a burden. It's overwhelming I guess because in growing up no one is taught how special they are in God's eyes and that they have a hope of heaven.
  19. God laid His hand upon him. Yes I have had God's hand laid upon me and yes it was for my own good. What was it like? It was peaceful, tranquil, awsome. It is had to explain, but I wish it would happen every day, every minute, every second.
  20. + Lack of knowing what the bible says and discouragement and knowing in your mind that you can never shape up are a few reasons people want to flee God. People who don't know God or has very little knowlege can't beleive that there is a God who cares enough to watch what thier doing. Yes, and I'm ashamed to tell you Istill do sometimes , but these lessons help so much. the more I learn the more I want Him watching me.
  21. The basis of Hezekiah prayer for healing was his faith in God and his trust that God would do as He said and because he did his best to do what God had told the Isrealites to do. Personal rightousness and holiness is important because it shows your faith in the creator. Unrighousness can prevent answered prayers because they are given for selfish reasons .Unrightousness is not knowing God and His promises.
  22. Hezekiah's healing was important to his nation because it would have left it defenseless , and without a Godly leader. It relates to God's promise to David that one of his heirs would always be on the throne.
  23. Both prayers acknowledge God as the creator of heaven and earth, and honor Him as such. They are important to faith because if you don't beleive it you can't say it. They are important to God answering prays because if you can't see Him as the creator you can't beleive that He can answer your prayers.
  24. The significance is that God was being taunted and belittled so Hezekiah took it to Him to see what was being said. The underliying principle is that we are to take all things to God. We can apply this principle in our own lives by taking our problems before God to let Him see and judge for Himself and then deal with as He sees fit. When we don't apply this principle nothing ever happens and we lose our faith.
  25. When a person is willing and able to give to the Lord his spirit is greatful and able to give praise for who the Lord is and what He has done through His love and mercy. When a person is possessive of what He has he forgets who those possessions really belong to and who gave them to that person. When this happens they are not able to worship the giver. Our possessions belong to God because He made it possible for us to have them by giving them to us.
