  1. God is at work in the lives of true believers. Those who have heard his call and responded positively to His invitation are assured that in all things He is working for their good.
  2. In what sense do we expect to experience God's glory when Christ comes? When Christ comes we will experience the fullness of God
  3. What are the characteristics of a person who has lost hope? This person wants to quit, give up, bail out of life. Often their theme song could be
  4. How does the Holy Spirit act as a Helper or Mediator or Intercessor in verses 26-27? The Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. He is standing / praying / interceding before the Father on our behalf. What similarities do you see between the Holy Spirit's ministry here with Jesus' teaching of the Spirit's ministry as Counselor/Comforter/Paraclete in John 14:16 and 15:26)? He is the one and the same for He stands before the Father on our behalf. He is our guide, teacher and advocate. Why do you think we tend to take the Holy Spirit for granted or fail to understand His ministry to and through us? Could it be that we struggle with putting our trust in one to be our advocate who is unseen? Or might it be that we struggle with accepting the fact that
  5. In what ways was suffering Jesus' lot in life? He was despised and rejected by men. He was spat upon, cursed, rejected, beaten, bled and died. He carried the sin of the world on his shoulders when he went to the cross. Why do we suffer? We suffer because we are his children and live in a sin cursed world. Why does all creation seem to be suffering? Creation suffers because it bear the marks of what man
  6. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. This is a very personal, tender, close intimate relationship of a child with their loving Father. It is through this assurance that we know it is well with our souls. We receive this kind of personal assurance as we spend time in the presence of our Father.
  7. When I came to Jesus, was born again, I made a choice to die out to the sin business and come alive in and through Him. My life turn around 180 degrees and I now would march to the beat of a different drummer. My rebellion and resistance towards Him ceased. My choice would be to walk in the light as He is in the light. I cannot do this by myself, but in His infinite wisdom the Father knew this and He has provided the Holy Spirit to live within, so that the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. The Holy Spirit leads, guides in the ways I should go, and teaches the truth of Him who is Truth. It truly becomes no longer I who live but Christ. The theme song of my life is
  8. Do I have to sin? No, for the choice is mine. As I see it, sin is a willful transgression against a known law of God in my life. I can choose to do so, or not. Might we sometimes fall into sin? Yes, for we still can make wrong choices, but the good news is we still have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ. (John 1:8). As I have been thinking about these questions Jude verses 24 and Romans 6:1&2 came to mind.
  9. As I understand it the Holy Spirit moves in the moment we are born again. We get all of him but that doesn
  10. To set your mind on the things of the Spirit, or things above, is to deliberately choose to think on things which are
  11. Though the law is holy, righteous and good it does not have the ability to deal with the root problem of sin, our
  12. I appreciate what Dr. Stott wrote and tend to agree with him as far as he goes. I also believe it further can be applied to believers today as Dr. Wilson stated. He stated that
  13. Man is born with a bent towards sin. His inner nature is defiled. This will manifest itself in outward actions at some time and in some place.
  14. The law exposes or reveals sin in our lives. The problem with the law is that it has no remedy for sin. The law is simply a device by which one can measure or come to realize sin, or have sin exposed in their lives. The law has no power to forgive one
  15. Paul states very clearly, "Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey
  16. We are constantly in situations where we must choose as to whom we will serve. Life forces us to make daily decisions regarding right and wrong and as to whom we will walk in obedience to. Satan is still out there seeking whom he may devour, looking to destroy us. However, we can begin to offer our members deliberately to God by walking in the light that we know is being shed on our paths. We can choose to be obedient in the areas that are clear to us and trust in him, through the Holy Spirit to continue to guide us into all truth. One of the best things we can do is to seriously study His Word for it is a light for our path, a lamp for our feet. (Psalms 119:105) It is His power living in and through us that can keep us from falling.
