  1. According to verse 4,for what purpose did jesus give himself? How does jesus rescue people today? How does he keep people from falling back into old ways? Jesus gave himself as a ransom for all of us or as a rescue mission to save us from making mistakes and caring more about the law then the gospel. Jesus keeps rescuing us by the word of grace and of salvation. He keeps people on track by motivating and encouraging us to stay true to his word.
  2. Why do people blame moses for advancing the egyptian army? What motivates their fears? Who are they really blaming? How does moses respond to the blame and fear? Why doesnt moses defend himself? How do the people respond? They felt moses placed a trap to get killed by the egyptians, they felt it was better to serve egyptians then be where they was. Their fears was motivated by panic and not having enough faithin god and in moses leadership. Moses doesnt give in but motivates them to stand firm, stop whining and not be afarid god was to be by their side
  3. Why was obiedence so important to the people deliverance? Why is obidence so important from sin,the flesh, etc? Is there any discipleship without obiedence? It was important because moses and aaron obeyed god then the people obeyed what their leaders had said, to obey god and act on it shows obiedence. Soon the blessings was to follow leaders must follow the voice of god, when people recognize it blessings come but if there is bickering only disaster was to come.
  4. In what sense is christ our passover lamb? In what sense are we marked with his blood? In what sense does god judgement pass over us? Christ is our passover lamb who had been sacrificed for us on the cross at calvary, he was the lamb who was to take away the sins of the world. With peter we are redeemed with the precious blood of the lamb, withput blemish and defect. We are participants of christ blood through passover our names are written in the book of life we are not condemned for our sins
  5. Why did moses blame god for his troubles> He was very reluctant and when pharaoh would not let the people of God go then moses took most of the blame,he in turn blamed god for putting him in such a position. He was so afarid and didnt want to continue but God then took control and reminded him to see the same visions that he does for the israelites. Why do you think moses and aaron was so stubborn, was it fear or what> They was so stubborn cause they didnt have the patience necessary to see far into the future didnt have the same visions that god wass going to show him. Moses also knew that he had a speech impedient so he was constantly making excuses which god wasnt going to tolerate it.
  6. Why god was angry with moses, was because he refused to accept the calling,he was afarid that people would kill him and his disobiedence in not wanting to speak to the pharaoh about letting the israelites go cause he was not eloquent enough. I believe that god can get angry at us for not listening to him when he tells or sends us to do his will. He appeased god anger by saying aaron could come with him to speak to the pharaoh.
  7. Moses had demostrated lack of faith when god had called him to liberate the israelites,he questioned god judgement to send a lowly person who had done wrong so many yrs earlier. God had reassured moses that he would be with him no matter how impossible it seemed, god knew that moses could do this through faith in god. God reassues us when we seek him and pray deeply that his will be done in our lives.
  8. His motivation was to protect the life of his brethen from the egyptian, his people was being abysed while he lived a life if luxury. His character shiws compassion and mercy but a quickness to react to what mistreatment was being carried out,he felt this was the only way. As a leader he didnt use the wisdom and right actions, then the next day it was too late he got caught and the pharaoh sought to kill him cause he committed a capital crime punishable by death. The positive was compassion, mercy and a sense of love but the negative he wasnt in control and didnt think before acting.
  9. What is the result when a Christian walks in darkness, that is, continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong? How does this involve self-deception? What is the result, according to verse 7,when we walk in the light? How do we get back into the light if we sin? The apostle John does say clearly in the letter that we cannot say that we are Christians but then we do whatever we want cause then we are lying. Like for an example a married man cannot be with his wife and be having an affair cause then He is not living in the light he is lying to himself God and others as well. Self deception is evident because then if we doing whatever we want and we say we love God and are in the light then we are lying to ourselves. We have to be honest and open to the sin we did and learn from it also having a hatred for it if we want to get back into the light adn God's grace.
  10. why is fellowship with fellow christians so often just on surface level? How can we have fellowship at a deeper level in Christ? What would it take in your christian group or your relationships with other believers to deepen your level of fellowship so it is authentically Christian? it is often on surface level cause having fellowship with Christians is us having things in common with Christ cause if we truly walk in light then we should be able to be true brothers and sisters in the Lord. We can have fellowship with each other by walking in truth and love together in love for Christ. I mean if we truly have God and the Jesus then that is very important to do and pray, seeking God together is how it can go deeper. it is about genuine and honest fellowship with Christ and in Christ.
  11. In the context of the salvation of all, why do you think Paul emphasizes the roles of Mediator and Ransom? In what way did Christ fullfill both of these roles? The role of the Mediator is a mediator between two parties to remove a disagreement or to be able to reach a common goal, Jesus was the Mediator for us before the Father and the common goal was to preach salvation to all the people and spread the evangelism. In the ransom was when Jesus died on the cross at calvary to save humanity by providing the way to the Father. Jesus fullfilled both of these roles when he was crucified on the cross and went to the Father in heaven so that He can save us.
  12. Why does Paul emphasize salvation for all mankind in this letter? What does this suggest about the practice of evangelism in the Ephesus church? Cause the false teachers and false prophets had lost track of the gentiles and God wants all to be saved including the Gentiles. Israel was God nation but his salvation became possible because Jesus had died on the cross for us. The church in Ephesus had forgotten that the Great Commission was to preach the gospel and salvation to the whole world.
  13. What do we learn about God from this doxology? What do we learn about praise? Have you ever tried speaking out a doxology in your personal prayer or praise time? What effect does a doxology have on the speaker? That we are to give him honor which is the best that we can give him and reverence. A doxology is a glory word or a time to praise him cause He is the King of Kings and most of all eternal. we should always in our prayer time give him the doxologies of our hearts and especially when we are reading the Word of God. The doxology is effecting the speaker cause He realizes that at one time he had none of what God has given to him right now in his life so he takes the time to give him all the honor and reverence because He is the eternal and only God.
  14. Why does Paul comment on his own life after a paragraph on the Law? Why does he share this with Timothy and the church that will read the letter? How might this help get the church back on center? He wanted the church to know and also Timothy that He appreciates the Lord cause he gave him the strength to be faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to His service. He admits that he done wrong in the past and was a great persecutor who now knows about mercy and how to show it to others. He was ignorant and filled with unbelief but since the grace of the Lord was poured on Him he has now love and faith towards Jesus Christ. HE declares that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners and that he was the worst of them all so they need to keep in mind that it doesnt matter how bad we are that Christ can be able to show mercy to them, and showed unlimted patience while they get to reaquaint themselves in Christ Jesus. It helps the church to get back into focus that it is not about the twisted version of the gospel or false teaching but it is about love, faith, mercy, and unlimted patience in Christ Jesus and The Word of the Lord.
  15. What were some of the results of false doctrine in the church at Ephesus? How does doctrinal controversy hurt the spirit of a church? How does it prevent growth? How does it keep the church from it's mission? It was leadership crisis among the elders some of them was false teachers, the desire for wealth or greed, a divise asceticism from the Judiazers and the destruction of faith for people in Ephesus, confusion and controversy of the people in church from coming together in unity. It causes problems and arguements among people at church, it is called useless speculations cause instead of focusing on God and the Word of God and spreading joy and unity, these people will go out of their way to make others look bad. It prevents growth spirtually for the simple fact that it is a hindrance and doesnt edify the person that is involved and involving other peoples as well. IT keeps the church from it mission cause it produces distorted and immature christians instead of maturity and the growth within the church and others as well.
  16. In the parable of the Light of the World,Jesus notes the stupidity of lights being hidden under bowls.Concerning what danger in the life of a christian disciple does Jesus warn us in this parable? It means that we should not be hiding our light but letting everyone know that Jesus lives inside of us.WE cannot be hidden like way back in the days when the lights were hidden under the bowls was to not know that they were around or lighting the paths of darkness but we should let our light shine forth in the Lord.
  17. What might be the symptoms of a christian that loses it saltiness? Is it possible for a believer to detect such syptoms in himself or herself? What do secular people notice about dessaltified christians?what do other christians notice about you?Is it possible to resalt your life? THey dont want to serve the Lord anymore, start thinking about themselves and not about God's will for their life, just like the people of Israel and the disciples in Jesus time.Pride, idols, etc are all part of a christians losing their salitiness in the Lord and for what God has in their lives. For a believer to detect the problem when they are going through it comes later when they realize the error of their ways and want to come back to the Lord and regain their saltiness. The secular people notice it quicker when a christian is not in the Lord cause they be like oh why are you not going to church and by the actions and the way they speak. It is always possible to resalt our lives and my life as well,it is about having faith and hope in God
  18. How can intense desire for righteousness put you at odds with the world? What sort of righteousness is Jesus talking about,do you think? What promise are we given in the beautitudes? Because we want to be able to have God's presence living within us in a world that wants to be selfish all the time. The righteusness that God is talking about is the one where we are thirsty and we hunger for it and the Lord is the only one who is able to quench it.That we will be able to recieve it from the Kingdom itself and not by human effort.God would give us His son so that we may give him our lives for the exchange of His on the cross.
  19. How does this sort of gentleness contrast with the world's ideal? How is humility important to Christlikeness? Gentleness is being able to be humble and be holy instead of trying to advance our own agendas like others do.The world's ideal is to promote themselves before others and they are going to try to glorify themselves before others.Humility is important for God and to be like Christ because it is showing love at his highest, the courage to be different than the world's idea of having courage, and being gentle in all things as was Jesus in the times of Herod
  20. Before we are to recieve Jesus as our Savior and be christians then we have to mourn over what we have done so we can recieve the comfort from the Lord for all our wrongdoings that we have done. The mourning that is required before we are to become Christians is to realize that we were living an empty and not so meanful life full of purpose and drive, that is only found in the Lord.
  21. Each beatitude consists of two parts. What are these parts? Why do you think Jesus made each beatitude a paradox? What is the relationship of the beautitudes to the Fruit of the Spirit? like Blessed are the poor in spirit for they shall inherit the Kingdom,it shows what a religious leader would do and then what we spirtual christians would do for the Kingdom of the Lord.He wants us to be faithful to Him adn to be able to understand the things that christians go through to enter with God in the kingdom.THe reason Jesus made a beautitude into a paradox was to speak in riddles to those who were in the mount to make a mockery out of him.Th relationship of the beatitudes to the Fruits of the Spirit is to show that God has given us these qualities and it is a part of who we are in His vine
  22. What reassurance is it to you that God keeps you and watches over you? How does Psalm 121 make you feel? God is like the watchful mom and dad that guards us in times of danger and can take us under his wing when we need the protection. He gives us the protection from falling like not letting our foot slip, protection 24/7 like we will not slumber cause He is watching over us.Protection also form the sun and the moon cause God is our shade at our right hand and the protection from the all-hazard policy meaning that The Lord will always keep me from harm. And this protection is from now to forever and that ccauses me to always know that in all times God is looking out for me and all the people that i love
  23. What does this psalm teach us about God's protection when in danger? What does it teach about our authority to vanquish our enemies? What promises does Psalm 91 contain? How does this psalm make you feel? When we are in danger,it shows that when we come to God and are obedient to His ways that He will protect us under his wings. We can be able to say that He is our fortess and our refuge in times when the enemy is all around us or people are trying to hurt us.THe authority that we have is that when we make God our refuge then we can be able to trample the fowler and the powerful lion cause we have a mission to conquer the bad with the good,by the power of Jesus name is greater than anythin possible. The promises that are contained in the Psalm is that when we call upon the Lord He will be able to recue us,he will protect us,he will be with us in the moment of trouble, deliver us and honor us,satisfying us with long life and God will show us salvation.I feel confident in the psalm because when i cry out to God i know that He will be there if i remain faithful to him
  24. What images does the psalmist evoke to communicate his trust in God's protection? How do the first four verses of this psalm make you feel? He was overwhelmed and in deep despair so He is crying out so he wants to be under God's protection always. He uses the verses like the Rock is higher than i,for you have been a shelter for me,a strong tower, and wings these are all images that David is using to show how he is cryin out to the Lord in the moments of his prayer of his mercy.David had felt that he is far from the Lord in the time of his despair. He and us as Christians can be able to find that God is our strong tower, our source of protection and deliverance from the enemy that is all around us.I will abide in your tabernacle means that we can be determined strongly to always be in the presence of the Lord
  25. How could David dare to ask anything from God after the shameful things he had done with Bathsheba and Uriah? How does God's grace and mercy function in the face of our sins? David was asking from mercy and forgiveness from the Lord,he wanted to experience God's love and salvation. He realized that it is not by his own merit but upon God's unchanging character that he was able to overcome the obstacles of his sins with bathsheba and Uriah.God's grace and mercy works in times of favor,it is through love for us his children, and in great mercy. He wants to redeem us and give us always that reminder of our salvation.
