  1. The reasons given for praise are that God has done marvelous things,in Him is victory,He has made known His salvation,His righteousness in the sight of the heathen,He hath remembered His mercy and His truth toward Israel and all the enda of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Praise is so exuberant in this Psalm because the Lord is returning in victory to rescue His people and judge the wicked. Praise is not that exuberant in my church. I think it is because we have not really got a vision of His coming again very soon anyway. I need to be more exuberant in my praise and after reading this lesson,I think it will be.
  2. The reasons contained in this psalm that we should worship is,the Lord is a great God and King, above all gods,in His hand is the deep places of the earth, the strength of the hills and the sea is his. He made the sea and His hands formed the dry land.He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. I think a warning was included in this Psalm because there may come a time when we cannot worship because our heart will be hardened. That could happen when we provoke the Lord's wrath because we did not give Him his rightful place in our heart. We must worship with our heart and not just our mouth. This fits with the earlier elements of the Psalm because it tells us who God is and what He has done so we are without excuse if we do not worship and praise Him for who He is!
  3. This Psalm teaches us that God loves all kinds of praise that comes from the hearts of those who love Him. We are to praise Him in holy places which if we are holy would be anywhere we are and in the heavens. We should praise Him with all kinds of instruments and dance that is for Him. Everyone that has breath should praise the Lord! When I read this Psalm aloud,it makes me feel the Lord's presence and I have been praising Him and want to keep praising Him.
  4. What attracts me about this Psalm is the beauty with which it speaks about believers living in unity. Living in unity is very difficult because all believers still have to deal with their flesh. And our flesh fights against God's spirit that dwells in all believers. We need to be committed to yielding to the Holy Spirit,we need to commit ourselves to love one another and want what is good for our fellow believers, putting them first and ourselves last. The principles of unity and purity seem to conflict with each other because when we are striving for unity we must not compromise our purity. If it is something that goes against God's Word then we must not compromise even if it causes disunity. But it must be very clear in the Bible and not just our opinion. Reconcilation and unity are high values in Jesus teaching because God is love and He wants his followers to have love for each other.Love for one another and forgiving one another is what will win unbelivers to the Lord.
  5. Parents should teach their children that those who would live a godly life, pleasing to the Lord, must live their everyday lives in a way the Lord can bless.Everyone should examine himself to see if he is doing what pleases the Lord and be honest with himself. Topics of right living that the psalm covers is; Backbiting Doing something wrong to your neighbor Speaking evil against your neighbor Do not approve of those living in an ungodly way But have the utmost respect for those who fear the Lord Keep your word even if it hurts you in some way Do not lend money expecting interest on it Do not take bribes, the innocent always get hurt when you do
  6. I think we need to be reminded that the wicked will perish and the righteous succeed because sometimes it seems as though the wicked are succeeding. In some ways they are now for a time, such as abortion but in the end they will perish and sin will be done away with. The righteous will flourish and it will be a perfect world! Isn't He wonderful! My favorite verse or lines is verse 2,But his delight is in the law of the Lord;and in his law doth he meditate day and night.I think maybe it is because I do love God's Word and to meditate on it and God says those who do are blessed.
  7. The recognition that God loves me is the basis of all faith because one is only going to trust and have faith in someone who loves them.We must have faith in God to be saved. This realization brings into my life a deep love and trust for God.I love Him because He first loved me.
  8. To dwell in the house of the Lord is a metaphor for living close to God and doing His will. It is a place of safety from sin and God's enemies and rejoicing in God's presence. To seek His face is to desire for God to hear you and to have a personal, intimate relationship with Him. David provides hope at the end of this Psalm by telling us to wait for the Lord and expect Him to come through with an answer. PRAISE THE LORD!
  9. I chose to paraphrase Psalm 139. My Lord you know me and have searched my heart. You know my thoughts and every word I speak. You are acquainted with everything I do. When I look to the future, you are there. When I look in the past, you are there. And yet, your hand is on me. This is too wonderful,it is beyond my comprehension. There isn't anywhere in the whole universe I can go that you are not there. Always your hand leads me while your right hand holds me. The darkness does not hide me from you. Darkness and light are the same to you. From my mother's womb you have had your hand upon me. I know in my very soul how fearfully and wonderfully you have made me. Praise your Holy Name! Before I was formed,my members were written in your book. Your thoughts are so precious to me,My God! There are more of them than I can count. I know you will do away with the wicked,O God. I will not keep company with them for they speak evil of you and take your name in vain. I am grieved by them and count them as enemies. Look into my heart and search it,know my thoughts and if there be any sin, purge it and lead me in the way that lasts forever with you.
  10. The way in which the wonder of creation in the psalm seems to affect the psalmist is he meditates on the value of human life and how God weaved it together to the smallest detail,an embryo in its mother's womb. He praises God for being fearfully and wonderfully made. God ordained all his days and wrote them in his book. I n his concluding prayer in verses 23 and 24,he asks God to search his heart and test his committment to Him.For God to know the worries that fill his mind, find any sin and deal with it so he will go in the path that lasts forever.
  11. The thread that runs through both parts is God speaking to us. The psalmist basks in God's Word by being so enthralled with God's word spoken in the heavenlies and God's written Word. He finds it more desirable than gold and sweeter than honey. He knows it is only through God's Word he will first be cleansed from sin and then kept from it. His strength comes from the Lord through His Word. Yes,I have felt that way but I think I fall short of the psalmist's love for the Word of God. The psalmist's wonder in creation draws him to God in a very close and personal way. In verse 14,David is asking God to cause his talk be such that it glorfies God and even the secret thoughts of his heart be what God would be pleased with.
  12. This Psalm teaches us that God is the majestic creator of all the earth. His name is to be praised! Even God's enemies and satan are silenced when children praise Him. This Psalm teaches us that human beings are so small in all of God's creation and yet He does care about us. God has given human beings dominion over His creation. This Psalm teaches us that Christ has been made a little lower than the angels and God has crowned him with glory and honour. This Psalm teaches us that we have a responsibility to care for God's creation.
  13. Hello, My name is Patsy. I am a married 57 year old housewife. I do help,part-time, my husband in his cleaning business. I am from ILLinois in the United States. I do like Pastor Ralph's Bible Studies. I love the Psalms and when I saw Pastor Ralph was doing a study in the Psalms,I knew I wanted to study with you. God Bless You Patsy
  14. God can receive more glory in my local congregation by praying about everything we do, giving Him praise for answered prayer, by looking to Him and keeping our faith in Him. I can help this happen by trusting God with everything in my life and others, praying always for his help and guidance and sharing with the congregation how God has answered my prayers. And praying for the congregation that each one will trust God to answer even bigger than expected and praise him for the answers.
  15. Verse 3:20 of the doxology should energize my prayers by trusting that God is able to do more than I can imagine and ask Him to help me have faith for even bigger things. What happens when we limit God because of our own ability to comprehend is we lose out on what God could do! We can get past this failing by asking God to increase our faith.
  16. Yes, I have prayed for fellow believers to be filled with the fullness of God but I did not use thos exact words. What I would be praying for and the words Iused was that they woul be completely yielded to God and he would fill them with the Holy Spirit. This prayer relates to Ephesians5:27 because if we are completely yielded to God He will fill us with the Holy Spirit and we will be holy and without any spot, wrinkle or blemish and as Colossians 1:28 says perfect in Christ Jesus.
  17. Paul prays that believers grasp the fullest extent of Christ's love for them because he knows it will make a huge difference in the way they live their life. Comprehending this love causes a person to completely trust in the Lord through all kinds of trials and tribulations. No, there is no end of Christ's love for a person.
  18. Paul prays for strengthening of the inner man because without that we would be very weak christians. We would pray this prayer by asking God to fill us with the Holy Spirit. He prays for Christ to dwell in their hearts even though it is an established fact because he wanted them to live so others could see Christ dwelling in them.
  19. A revelation of God's incomparable great power for us who believe is essential to a vital faith because we must know and understand who Christ is and what he can impart to us or our faith will be of little strength. I can develope this faith in myself by reading God's word and praying big prayers, exercising my faith in him. I pray it for others by asking God to reveal it to them through his word and their experiences.
  20. Yes, my christian hope has changed my way of living. When I get down its that hope that Christ is coming again that lifts me up. And I try to live to please Him because I will face him someday. The result of believers having only a meager hope is they live a mostly defeated christian life. I would pray for hope to be borne in others that God would open their eyes and cause them to understand and trust in him through his word.
  21. The result in prayer and faith if believers think God is poverty stricken is their prayer life will be very shallow if even it exists and they will have very weak faith. The knowledge of a glorious inheritance motivates us to intercede for others, for strength for ourselves,a very strong prayer life and living our lives in strong faith and trust in our Saviour. I can pray for others to glimpse the inheritance by asking God to open their eyes.
  22. Yes, my christian hope has changed my way of living. When I get down its that hope of Christ coming again that lifts me back up and also the knowledge that God is in charge and nothing gets past his will. The result of believers having only a meager hope is they live a mostly defeated christian life. I would pray for hope to be borne in others that God would open their eyes and cause them to understand and trust in him through his word.
  23. We learn from Paul's manner of prayer for the Ephesian believers that we must pray for fellow believers enlightment and guidance from the Holy Spirit. No, I don't think people would come on their own if christians stopped praying for them to receive a revelation of God. No, I don't think God would work in them at all. This kind of prayer is very important because that is how God has chosen to work; through the prayers of his people.
  24. No, Jesus was not getting special treatment in that the Father will not do the same for us when unusual or special circumstances call for it. I'm talking about when only angels are capable of doing the job.
  25. Yes, the Father was very pleased when Jesus prayed, not my will but yours be done. The Father is not pleased when we are passive and uncaring in our prayers because it shows a lack of love for Him. What is required to pray a prayer of submission with authencity is a love and trust in Him that wants what He wants above all else. Sometimes we have to pray for God to give that kind of love and trust for Him. We must trust Him to do what is right and we love Him with our whole heart, mind and soul.
