Q4. Conquering Overwhelmingly
awylie1949@yahoo.co.uk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. More than Conquerors (8:28-39)
They were exposed to persecution, death, hardship. We are exposed to the same things including ridicule and abuse.. It assures that Christ has us firmly in His grasp and His care and He will protect us ultimately from harm although we will suffer, He will guard . See psalm 91. Ultimately we will conquer because we are held in his bosom and are united with Jesus who will keep us safe in His protection -
Q3. God Is for Us!
awylie1949@yahoo.co.uk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. More than Conquerors (8:28-39)
The significance is that God will always be with us every step of the way. He will never abandon or leave us. He will carry us and that nothing can ultimately defeat us if we abide in Him. Our enemies are satan, the world, our flesh, anything or anyone that does not share our faith or beliefs who battle and sin against God. The evidence is that whereas we were sinners God sent His son to die on the cross for our sins. It gives me hope, joy. praise and humility that God loved me so much that Jesus had to die for me. It engenders and increases hope. It allows me to act with assurance that God will take care of me .To graciously give us all things is to give the protection support love and essence of Christ Himself -
Q2. Conformed to Jesus' Likeness
awylie1949@yahoo.co.uk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. More than Conquerors (8:28-39)
It means that we are made like Jesus which is awesome when you really think about it. We have to put on Jesus and show His love to others. He supports it because if we are faithful then we will spend eternity in glory with Jesus and share in His resurrection. We come into His family as His sons and heirs. We are adopted, Hallelujah -
Q1. The Promise of Romans 8:28
awylie1949@yahoo.co.uk replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 8. More than Conquerors (8:28-39)
That all things which happen in our life whether they be good or bad will work together for our own and for His glory. It means that anything that happens to us is in alignment with His will because He knows best. It gives me hope because He is my Heavenly Father, He loves me and wants the best for me. The 2 qualifications are we love Him and we are called according to His purpose -
The person who has lost hope is sad, depressed, drifting with out assurance, defeated, their fight has left them.. He spends his life in gloom not knowing joy of God. He differs because he has lost interest and the ability to rise above his depression. The Christian hope is we have Christ and assurance and peace and joy that when we leave this life we will be with Jesus forever. We might be suffering now and sharing with Jesus in that way but we know we will share in His resurrection if we are faithful

Jesus suffered because He was not accepted, He was misunderstood, rejected, ridiculed, mocked and people tried to trap Him and His disciples ran away. In the beginning God made everything good but Adam and Eve listened to the serpent who is out to destroy and they fell which brought the whole curse on mankind and the world. When Jesus comes and we are resurrected. We look forward to unbroken communion with Him if we abide in Him

The Holy Spirit witnesses to us that we belong to God, He is our Father, our Dad. We were created by Him as His children so we can accept that and relate to Him as our Father. If we dont have personal assurance we are somewhat adrift and we try to do things on our own. By walking with Him constantly hand in hand

It means we have to crucify the things that we do that are not of God. We literally have to kill them out of existence by His help or they will destroy us.. I struggle with internet ****. For me that would put blockers and filters on sinful sites, to ask for accountability partners, to join Godly sites and to immerse one in the things of God, to soak oneself in Him. It is a partnership of the Holy Spirit and us. Putting to death, its desire must come from the Spirit because we are at war and the Spirit is our Helper. We have to surrender to Him and let Him lead us
-
We dont have to sin if we have the Spirit in us. We are not compelled to sin because we have Christ and His power. Jesus was perfect. We are not. We will sin many times because of our imperfection. But we can always ask for forgiveness and repent and we will be forgiven. If we remain vigilant with our minds and our eyes on Jesus we will have victory. For those who have addictive behaviour we have to crucify the fleshly desires of our ****. We have the victory through Christ
-
It means you have to focus on God and His Spirit by listening to Him and by immersing yourself in the Bible and praying. You have to be washed in His blood and be vigilant. Psalm 91. You recognise it when your desire for the things of God lesson, when you want selfish pleasure that will take you away from Him, when you lose interest in godly things. It becomes deliberate when you start wandering way into the world away from God. This is a civil war. The flesh wars against the Spirit. It becomes habit the longer you wander away. But habits can be broken and reformed into Godly ones but it takes self discipline and selfcontrol and the help and the strength of God. The Holy Spirit will give us the power to do this if we abide in Christ. our own willpower is weak, we need Christ
-
The doctrine is that we are sinners with bad in us. it is like a civil war good and evil or Jekyll and Hyde. Our gold is mixed with dross and life is a struggle. We have mixed motives and we have to crucify our flesh and desires and surrender to Jesus and Him alone. We have to an about turn. Gods good ness does shine through, we are not totaly evil .. We are such a mixture and that is why we have to be all out for Christ. Modern man I think suffers from pride and deceitfulness. He does not want to see himself as he is, a sinner. He wants to see some good in himself or appear to be good., The Bible teaches about the human heart and how wicked and deceitful it is and who can understand it, only God can

The law tells us what sin is. The law condemns us when we realise our sin. The law is powerless because it does not give us the help or strength to fight and overcome that only Christ can when we know Him as Saviour. The problem is our sinful and fleshly nature that is in us encouraged by satan to fight against the good and the Spirit of God
-
I am thinking of the old saying Ignorance is bliss. We can blithly go on our way behaving badly and not feeling condemned. Maybe our conscience would trouble us but we could just brush it off because we did not know what we were doing was wrong and we were ignorant of sin. God gave the law to educate us and to make realise that what we were doing wrong was sin so He brought it to our attention for us to address the issue.. Now that we are aware of sin, our fleshly nature governed by satan, who is at war against God, wants us to be destroyed by our sinning. But there is answer and that is Christ who died for our sins and by His Spirit can give us the strength to overcome them
-
The flesh is everything that is in rebellion against God. It is all evil that we are capable of committing if we do not know Jesus as Saviour and if we do, we do not abide in Him and keep our eyes and our minds focused. It is a civil war, good against evil and to win we must have Gods spirit working in us, protecting us but we must do our part, we have to submit to God and not put ourselves into dangerous and tempting situations which pander to our weaknesses and failings. We have got to cling to God at all times
-
No there is not. We have to be slave of one or the other. Maybe because the concept of being in slavery is abhorrent to us and we want to be free but that can be a kind of slavery to self or sin. Maybe because we dont think we have the necessary willpower or strength or desire to be totally committed to one or the other. Maybe we are afraid we will fail

Good doctrine is the teaching found in the Scriptures and we must have a movement in our spirit to embrace it so we can willingly move closer to God. The Bible is Gods word for inspiration reproof and rebuke. He loves us so it makes sense that we revere Him and His precious word. The teaching that would take us away from God and towards the world

Obedience has to do what takes our attention mostly. We cannot serve 2 masters. only one . Only Christ must deserve my attention and affection and if He does then I ought to follow Him as His slave. Doing acts to God shows we are devoted to Him and we want a closer relationship with Him. Our bondage is broken when we lose our concentration and our love and our desire to the the object of our desire. Gods grace and Holy Spirit must come into our lives to make us obedient so we can break the bondage to sin.. In the areas of ****

I have suffered from an addictive behaviour for many years and have fallen into sin and done things which I am ashamed of. I can offer my eyes, hands, mouth, mind, feet, to do the selfish things of sin that I want to do . We sin unconciously because we still struggle and we always will this side of Heaven. We can offer to God what I have illustrated earlier and we have to crucify our fleshly desires and focus our mind on God and Him alone. It will take constant and daily vigilance of our mind and our eyes and constant prayer and communion with Him
