  1. I think we have to love someone to give without begrudging them or trying to examine if they really worked "hard enough". I will give without keeping a score. We don't give because we are competitive - what if the person turns their life around because of my help? It's also, what if he/she is in that position because of laziness? Judgmental. A terrible reason.
  2. When we give the way God commands and serve the way He commands, humility will be the driving force behind our actions. Our goal is to submit to God and drive the sin of pride far from us. Churches and non-profits often honor those who give (which feeds their pride)
  3. Wow, JanMary, what a great testimony you wrote in this most recent forum. I will pray for you while you are with your relatives. I, too, have many unbelieving relatives.

  4. We should be striving toward spiritual growth and maturity and one of the fruits of maturity is genuine love for others
  5. Christ overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple.
  6. Retaliation should never take place, but rather the showing of love to all people
  7. They all show that we should go the extra mile. We don't abet evil, but people think about what was done.
  8. The purpose of the eye for eye regulation was to be just and fair. The law was designed to be administered by a court or judge. It is designed for court purposes
  9. We shouldn't use answers that leave our message unclear. If we obeyed this command there would be no misunderstanding about our answers and our answers would be credible.
  10. I can be a friend to someone who is struggling. I can help healing by not acting like a Pharisee
  11. A person who remarries does not live in perpetual adultry and should not divorce to get back into God's will but should confess his/her sin
  12. I think Jesus' disciples reacted negatively because they understood the seriousness of his words - there is no escape even if the marriage is a disaster.
  13. According to Jesus, the Mosaic law does not command divorce. The Mosaic law allows divorce because of hard hearts. God intended for people to stay married.
  14. People do not need to be Christians to be joined as one flesh and this is accomplished by natural law. I think 100% of those entering into first marriage are joined by God.
  15. Jesus sided with Rabbi Shammai. The exception Jesus gave was the ground of sexual immorality. In Deuteronomy, it states that a man cannot take his wife back after he has divorced her and she has been defiled.
  16. We are to take **** very seriously and if we are tempted to **** after someone we should pray to love them as Christ loved them
  17. Because I am an elderly female I don't think it would be appropriate for me to counsel a man on these issues. If a male came to me with these issues, I would refer him to a male accountability partner.
  18. A. Men are committing adultery in their hearts when they watch ***********. B. When a man and woman have sex for money, they are using something God intended to be pure and beautiful and violating it. C, The victims are many - the participants sin against God and one another and other members of their families. They also risk disease.
  19. The good and natural sex desire is fulfilled between a husband and wife and there is also deep love and commitment involved. The forbidden **** desire is just a person gratifying a want to satisfy something he/she knows is not right. There is no commitment and often no love either - simply a physical act that often causes much pain and heartache.
  20. I think adultery starts with **** first. The adultery is fulfilling what the person first thought about and dreamed about ("as a man thinks in his heart ..."). **** breaks the Tenth commandment because it is actually committing the act in the heart before physically committing the act.
  21. The overarching theme is that God's kingdom is not like satan's kingdom and we should not look like the world or act like the world.
  22. We are brothers and sisters in Christ and the world is watching us very carefully. We should be very different and obey God in handling our issues. Settling entail coming to an agreement that is suitable for both parties and not holding grudges.
  23. When a brother has something against us it comes between our relationship between us and God. The appropriate action is to go to the brother and try to resolve the issue. There are certain situations where there could be more harm if resolution were pursued. Prayer is the key to knowing what to say and what to do and the Holy Spirit within us should guide us.
  24. Jesus said if we break any part of the law we break it all. Yes, all sin is the same in God's eyes. If we really believed this we would be kinder to everyone.
  25. If a church abolishes the law, how can they accept the New Testament law that says to love God with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourselves? The original Old Testament laws are wrapped up in these two. Christian legalism looks like obeying a bunch of rules - women can't wear slacks or makeup, issues about hair length, etc instead of focusing on Christ's command to love God and neighbor. When a church has no moral standards and no obedience but lots of legalism it looks like what the pharisees must have looked like in the past - lots of living by rules that made them feel like they were good people (outside of cup was clean, inside was dirty where it counts)
