1. Some of the results of the false doctrine were leadership crises among the elders and leaders of the church; a burning desire for wealth or greed; divisive asceticism from the Jews; destruction of the faith of some; and confusion and controversy that is destroying the unity and growth of the church. Because of the doctrinal controversy, the people were unable to agree with those who opposed them doctrinely, and before long, their unity broke down and they were no longer living in God's loving manner. They got to the point they could no longer love the opposing party. The church lost its effectiveness when God couldn't work in their midst, because the people forgot how to forgive. All of this together blocks God's mercy and grace, and the church is no longer capable of carrying out its mission. God says we must live a life of humble forgiving, remembering our own sinful nature lest we too shall fall. it behooves us to avoid false doctrine entirely, and keep our focus on what is most important.
2. Q1. (Romans 5:1-2) According to verses 1-2, faith is a key to salvation. For Abraham (4:3), what was the relationship between faith and justification? For us (5:1-2), what is the relationship between faith and justification? In your own words, just what does it mean to be justified? Because righteousness was imputed to Abram as a result of his faith - or his trust in the one who was reliable to carry out His Word, we also receive the same declaration when we place our faith in Christ. God declares us to be justified, and our lives are written in the book of life. When we are justified, the penalties due for our sin is wiped completely clean. Our relationship with the father is then repaired and we can approach Him boldly and without fear.
3. Hello Everyone, My name is Mary Beth from NC, and I have finally graduated with my Associates Degree in Business Accounting and can take a few moments to get 'associated' with all of you. I am a recent worship leader and church clerk, stepping down just months ago and missing it terribly. I have been enjoying the study immensely, and it is helping me grow faster and it is so important to me at this time it is hard to express. Looking forward to learning with each of you.
