Repentance and separation from the sins of our culture for a disciple today take the disciple with a repented heart away from the draw of the immoral and works of Satan to seeking after righteousness and fellowship with God. When we prepare ourselves to worship Jesus in the Lord’s Supper we should do so by repenting of sins and remembering the words of our Lord and the purpose of His death, burial and resurrection.  We should prepare to serve God with purity day by day submitting to His Word and walking in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The sins of our culture that require repentance and separation from begin with a society of over inflated egos who engage in self-worship; consumerism; abortion; ****/obcession with sex; greed; materialism; celebrity worship; corrupt political system/politicians; war/machine gun culture; and entertainment wrapped in religion.  We have become a shallow and material minded culture with no deep commitment to higher values reflected in the Biblical God = Trinity.

Read 2 Thessalonians 5:14-23 in preparation for daily service, purity, and participation in the Lord's Supper.  It is important to open our hearts and minds daily to the Trinity for the ongoing work of transformation into a Christ-like human-being.

How should we prepare ourselves to worship Jesus in the Lord's Supper? We should prepare by repenting and separating ourselves from the works of the devil – SIN.

How should we prepare to serve him with purity day by day? We can do this by confessing our sins and repenting from the areas of our lives that reflect “the unclean practices of our Gentile” neighbours.

“If we walk in the light, as he is the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin … if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1John 1:7,9)

Repentance and separation from the sins of our culture, both to prepare ourselves to worship him in the Lord’s supper, and to serve him with purity day by day.

We choose our actions based on obedience to God, even when no one is watching.   It is so important to come to the Lord's Supper clean and forgiven.   We should pray each day for forgiveness and the strength of the Spirit to stand firm and live for Him.

Today, we disciples have to be aware of the permissive culture in which we now live. Our culture has grown to accept sin. Today the disciple is unpopular with the world and we are the minority and our message is unacceptable. In order to worship Jesus in the Lord’s supper we must prepare ourselves, by looking inward and repenting of our sins and seek to know the Lord’s spiritual power.

Q5. (Ezra 6:20-21)

Q. What do repentance and separation from the sins of our culture look like for a disciple today?

A. There is so much that needs to be done. Many Christians today in my culture attend church programmes and confess sin committed but will join the world in some cultural rites that are not godly and thus offensive to God. Christians should live repentant lives daily and be separated from traditions and culture that does not honour God.

Q. How should we prepare ourselves to worship Jesus in the Lord's Supper?

A. By first humbly pause to examine ourselves in the presence of the Lord by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and then confess whatever sin the Holy Spirit exposes to us.

Q. How should we prepare to serve him with purity day by day?

A. By diligently reviewing our lives continuously moment by moment and confessing our sin and not to wait until the time for Holy communion.

What do repentance and separation from the sins of our culture look like for a disciple today?

Lines are very blurred and getting blurrier. If sins are not recognizable as being what they are, there will be no repentance.

How should we prepare ourselves to worship Jesus in the Lord’s Supper?

We should seek forgiveness for sins so that we are spiritually clean and worthy of taking part in the Lord's Supper. True worship will come from a place of intimacy with Christ. Intimacy comes from being completely transparent before God and acknowledging our shortcomings and sins. 'If we confess our sins, he is  faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness' 1Jn 1:9

How should we prepare to serve him with purity day by day?

Perhaps try doing what Paul advises; Pray without ceasing.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.' (1 Thess 5:16-18)

This should keep our minds stayed on Christ to do his will.

5a)

It looks like intentionally consecrating yourself and removing yourself grom things and ways that are acceptable but wrong. Its aligning yourself with what God says instead of whats acceptable and modern.

5b) Solemnly and intentionally remembering the sacrifice Christ made.

5c) By living lives that are rooted in His word and serving from the heart.
