Q4. Exalting the Humble

Recommended Posts

God will exalt us. He promised He will in Matthew 18:4 "whoever", includes all of us who obey God and humbles him/herself. It is a fact and a promise and we know for a fact that we can trust the Word. God doesn't lie, so whatever He says we can go by it as a fact.

We need to serve the Lord and exalt Him with looking for a reward. We should not do ti to get a reward but because we love Him from the heart.

We will see our reward in Heaven.

Some of us may become impatient when we see the world around us and it "looks like" that people who do not accept Jesus as their Savior "appear" to be better off, and we need to keep going back to the living Word all the time to keep our courage up and to keep going on this journey, the "race"

We will get the crown of righteousness and when we focus on that daily, we will not get discouraged.

Q4. (2:9-11)

We know we're supposed to humble ourselves like Jesus did.

But how can we know whether or not God will exalt us?

Why do we get impatient with this?

What does our impatience sometimes lead to?

He will exalt us because He has promised this to us, and He always keeps His promises.

This promise only applies if we truly humble ourselves.

However, I doubt we can be truly humble if we are focused on our reward, and not on emulating our Lord Jesus.

We have to be careful if we seek a high place for ourselves, because there is always the possible shame of being demoted.

Remember that whoever exalts himself will be humbled by God, but if we are truly humble, there is only one direction we can possibly move and that is up.

Jesus taught that it is better to be advanced to a place of honour than to grasp that place and later have to relinquish it.

It is not for us to get impatient – it is all about the Lord and His perfect timing.

Being impatient can only lead to doubting our Heavenly Father and separation from Him.

Q4. (2:9-11) We know we're supposed to humble ourselves like Jesus did. But how can we know whether or not God will exalt us?

Time and again Jesus Himself has taught that if we humble ourselves we will be exalted ( James and Peter also reiterate this .... The teachings of Jesus) Jesus never lied and Jesus is God so we believe that we will be exalted if we humble ourselves

Q. Why do we get impatient with this?

We get impatient because we all strive to be exalted even before we have actually humbled ourselves in a noteworthy fashion.

Q. What does our impatience sometimes lead to?

Our Impatience leads to restlessness, being short tempered , anger., irritable , eagerly desirous ... Our Pride, self esteem , over confidence tries to overcome the "Waiting" .

Our Impatience leads to wanting everything "now" and we strive to do it our way to achieve it . This is being led by Satan and playing into his plans ... This is working against God's Will and Timing. He makes all things beautiful in His time.

Isaiah 40:31 says. " Those that Wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; . They shall soar up on wings like eagles ; they shall run and not be weary ; they shall walk and not faint " ....... Which actually means you will be EXALTED

Therefore WAIT ON THE LORD

The word of God can not lie.  The exalting is on God's timing.  I simply take HIM at his word.  Secondly I know what it's like to cocky, arrogant & HUMBLED....  I also know what it's like to be humble and be exalted.  Impatience leads to taking matters in your own hands which means the individual is not being led by the Holy Spirit which  = to DANGER

At the Last Judgment, even those who are condemned will recognize Jesus’ authority and right to rule. People can choose now to commit their lives to Jesus as Lord or be forced to acknowledge him as Lord when he returns. Christ may return at any moment. We should be prepared to meet him.

But as believers, we should have a different attitude, one that enables us to lay aside our rights in order to serve others. If we say we follow Christ, we must also say we want to live as he lived. We should develop his attitude of humility as we serve, even when we are not likely to get recognition for our efforts. Are you selfishly clinging to your rights, or are you willing to serve?

If we are trying to be humble just so God will exalt US, that is selfishness, not humbleness. Our impatience comes from our sinful nature wanting to be fed some recognition or gratification.

If we try to humble ourselves so God can use us, that will lead to someday hearing "well done!" from our Master. That would be true exaltation.

Q4. (2:9-11) We know we're supposed to humble ourselves like Jesus did. But how can we know whether or not God will exalt us?

Answer: Because God is a faithfull God and that He keep His promise.

Why do we get impatient with this?

Answer: Maybe it is because we are not trully humble enough or the humbleness does not really came from our hearth.

What does our impatience sometimes lead to?

Answer: Sometimes our impatience leads to wrong decision that we will regret later on.

The bible tells us to humble ourselves,God will Exalt us.

In this world of everything now, we except it to happen right away, we need to learn patience,

Our impatience leads to trouble, not waiting on God we tend to do things our way, and will not work.

Yes, we're supposed to humble ourselves like Christ, but what does that really mean and what does it look like in our daily lives?

Many years ago, I watched a man dragging a cross through the crowds of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. People were throwing stuff at him and stripping off their clothes in front of his eyes. Was his response humility-in-action or a strange sort of psychological self-abasement?

Though God puts us in circumstances to humble us, this man put himself into a humbling situation. He was asking to be humiliated and debased. And so he was.

We can't humble ourselves, therefore, as this man tried to do, but we can respond to our circumstances by accepting them as either 1) the answer of God, that is His will, or 2) a trial of God. And that's where the difficulty lies, and perhaps impatience.

We ask ourselves,

-- "Is this circumstance of God, or something I should 'correct' or 'improve' myself?"

-- "Is this a trial or is Satan hurting me?"

It's not always easy to know whether our circumstances are of Him or not.

I  imagine Joseph in the prison, languishing for years, wondering if he should escape or stay? He was a victim ... could this really be of God?

Impatience comes from not knowing or believing that one's circumstances have been chosen by God. Joseph's imprisonment, year after year, must have been galling to him in times of weakness when he wondered if God had abandoned him or if this was "really" God's will.

My experience is that impatience comes and goes as our faith that our circumstances are God's will wanes and waxes.
