  1. Q4. (2 Corinthians 5:10-11a) How does Paul’s mention of the Judgment Seat of Christ fit the context here? We as Christians shall be judged as well however our judgment is not regarding eternal salvation. Our judgment will be as it relates to rewards for faithful service. All of our works and things that we have said will be examined but praise be to God that our eternal salvation was determined because we surrendered our lives unto Christ. By grace through faith we are saved. It is unfortunate however that some were conducting what they thought were good works but not in the will of God (Matthew 7:21-29) and that some maybe lukewarm (Revelation 3:14-22) my prayer is that as many as will repent and turn unto the Lord. How should our belief that we Christians will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to be judged for our works affect (1) our desire to please him? It should directly affect our desire to please Him, however because we live in the world sometimes we allow the influences of the world to influence our decision making. It's sad to say but it is true. Sometimes people in a church repeatedly perform sinful acts; sometimes they walk in the bondage of unforgiveness because someone in the church has hurt them (I recent listen to a radio ministry, a wellness ministry speak on the 1000's of people they minister to that experienced physical violence in a church / churches.) There are more things that I could say however more sorrowful than what I have said is that the perpetrators, most of them have not repented. As we know of something occurring against God's Will we should seek His guidance on what course of action to take. Be it something atrocious happening in a church, or behavior as it witness to others. (2) Our motivation to persuade people to receive Christ? Believing that we as Christians will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to be judged for our works how should it affect our motivation to persuade people to receive Christ. We as Christian should be doing so because it is commissioned for us to do so. We should not be lead to do so fearing failing will cause us to miss out. We should do so more in the lines as Christ did, He did so as being in the Will of the Father, He did so out of compassion and not compulsion. Our motivation should mirror that of Christ, He was active, He was obedient. Every person that He witness to did not recieve Him. Just as the Spirit drew people then, the Spirit draws today, we are to be willing vessels. Our being reflective light or salt is one measure that God uses to motivate people to receive Christ.
  2. Q3. (2 Corinthians 5:7) What does it mean to walk by faith, not by sight? To live (walk) with the belief that we are to live according to the Lords guidance. " We live out our lives here on earth tethered to heaven by the umbilical cord of the Holy Spirit, guided by the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, and expectant that God’s promises will surely come to pass." Not by sight = Not to live by my or be lead by our emotions alone. When situations, circumstances or events try us we are not to react as the world would. Why can’t nonbelievers understand this kind of living? 1st Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. They are well under a reprobate mind, they adhere to the influence facilitated by the prince of the air, that permeates the world. What aspects of your life are guided by your senses rather than by your faith? I honestly earnestly strive not allow my life to be guided by my senses, however I am sure if a microscope were to be placed upon my life there would be many times when I am guided by my senses rather than adhering / living by faith, for we all fall short of His glory. To answering the question nonetheless the times as it comes to mind, perhaps sometimes when it comes to my Beloved. I love her deeply and dearly however sometime my feeling lead me in the relationship. However if / when I wrong her I apologize and ask of her for / of her forgiveness. I as well ask the Lord to forgive me. Perhaps as well when I do things that I want to do, I'm positive I have allowed my flesh to influence my thinking. I can't think of a specific example at the moment that I could share. How can you bring a faith perspective into these areas? Spending more time with Him, actually adhering to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Lean not to my own understanding, but trust in the Lord even when I can't trace His hand.
  3. Q2. (2 Corinthians 5:6-8) How do Paul’s words comfort you when you consider your death? Greatly What do Christians believe happens when we die? There are two strong beliefs in the Christian community, one being that they enter into heaven. The other being that the spirit returns unto the Lord and the Christian sleep (is dead) until the first resurrection. What will happen to us if we die before Christ returns? Using the text from the lesson: “14b Through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep (those that are dead). 15 For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will (the text used states will, not already has) rise first; 17 then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17, RSV) I'm not a Seventh Day Adventist, nor does the belief concerning the state of the dead have an impact on eternal salvation, with a sincere heart my prayers are to those that maybe divided concerning is to not allow the difference obscure the truth. That truth being the essence of the Gospel by grace thru faith our being with the Lord now, our being with the Lord then hangs on BELIEF in Him! John 3:16 What will happen to us when Christ returns? We shall be changed, we will have new bodies (celestial bodies).
  4. Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:1-5) In what sense are our bodies like tents? The body we are stewards of now are temporary , they are suited to life here on earth. One day we shall be changed, there are several passages of Scripture that tell us that our bodies will change however I love how 1st Corinthians 15:35-50 speaks about the change. If we were to truly look forward to our “house not made with hands,” how would it affect our daily lives here? This is a tough question, and the answer I would say depends on an individual's state of being, where they are in their Spiritual walk. The best answer I guess regardless of where a Christian is in their walk is as they truly look forward to their house not made with hands it should influence their being ready. They should adhere to the message that Jesus gave through parables such as those found in Matthew 24 & 25, He did not say stop living but to occupy till He returns and , to watch and pray.
  5. Q5. (2 Corinthians 4:15-18) In what way do problems and physical deterioration help us toward “an eternal weight of glory”? The earth as we know it is the place we are most familiar with, although we know that it is appointed for man once to die and although many in Christ say that they are ready to die no one wants to die. As we go through body aches and physical deteriorations it reminds us that we are not going to be on earth forever. In relation to this chapter however the outward man, our bodies become stressed, fatigue, worn down and or weighty, this part of us is the part as well that can physically be seen, heard, and felt. The outward man through the decaying process is slowly consumed by continual trials and afflictions. Whereas the inward man as we grow in Christ being renewed day by day, being strengthened. The inward man as they grow in Christ experience the process of being renewed as the outward man contends with the process of decay. Through the process of the outward man decaying the inward man is being renewed and blessed by God basking in His grace moving towards “an eternal weight of glory.” Why is it so easy to focus on temporal matters to the exclusion of eternal things? They are right before us, they are at times easily accessible, often we can use one or more of our five senses as they would relate. Because we are in the world, because this body we are in is temporal. Why is a focus on eternal things so important to our spiritual growth? Focus on eternal things is so important to our spiritual growth, by focusing on eternal things we grow inwardly and do not become carried away or diverted by the physical sufferings. As we set our affections on things above, we will be laying up treasure in Heaven, aligning with the Lords Will rather than on the temporal which is passing away. What can we do to help shift our focus? Commune with the Lord, communicate with the Lord adhere to the Holy Spirit's guidance, assemble with like Believers. Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
  6. Q4. (2 Corinthians 4:8-12) How does it encourage you to know that Paul went through tremendous stress and pressure? It encourages me to This encourages me to persevere, it encourages me knowing that Paul and others went through, not only that they went through but also that they had Help as they went through. That they remained faithful, my prayer is that I am able to do so as well, my trials may never be that in comparison to Paul's and others nevertheless I desire to stand in Christ just as faithfully. What effect did these sufferings have on the way people could see Christ in Paul? Paul remained Christ centered, by doing so those whom he encountered saw whom and what he relied on even though he was going through. They saw that he believed if Christ and the gospel of Christ. They saw that his faith in and upon Christ was what he stood on. They saw that he overcame by faith, through faith, with faith and because of faith. The effect it had was that it draw people to Christ and to those who were united with Christ it increased their faith. Why is pain necessary to spiritual growth? I don't like the term necessary, hardship sometimes destroys a spirit. Nevertheless character is often strengthened in the crucible of suffering. When pain, trouble, test, trials, or tribulations come our way, our "faith" is put to the test. When the foundations are removed do we flee to the mountains or will we run to the arms of Christ. Pain just as joy has its purpose! Just as Paul stated when he was weak that was when he was strong, the same applies to us, these are the moments where we really allow God to do His wonders, when we have no strength His strengths visibility is seen clearer. God's strong arm of faithfulness is enough to help us withstand any crisis in the process we our faith can be strengthened. "God has many ways that He might use to achieve His ends, but His wisdom determined the best way to accomplish them". Samuel Willard How does our pain allow others to assess our authenticity as Christians? just as the people of Paul's day were able to assess his authenticity. The way we live, on whom do we depend, to whom do we turn to, how we behave. It isn't that we are immune to like trials that a non-believer would go through, it is do we turn to, how do we react and respond. As we turn to Christ this allows others to assess our authenticity as Christians. The authenticity isn't seen so much in our pain as it is what keeps us when we encounter pain, trials, tribulation. How do we endure and or overcome this is our testimony of authenticity.
  7. Q3. (2 Corinthians 4:7) What truth is Paul seeking to communicate by this analogy of a treasure in a pottery jar? Treasure in a pottery jar would be deemed of great value, the hope of glory within a child of God is deemed of great value. We as Christians can take in that which we have received, as we are open to the Holy Spirit we receive every necessary supply just when the necessary supply is necessary. Secondly just as the pottery jar does not give commands to the treasure we do not have the treasure within us at our own command. What does the clay jar represent? Our bodies What does the treasure represent? The hope of glory, the greatness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the glory of God made evident through that gospel. It is the very light of God, and the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, reflected in the face of Jesus Christ. What’s the paradox here? Paradox - illogicality is that we of the earth, fragile, flawed and perhaps damaged are given such an honor to house such glory, such purity, such magnificent. That God trust us a being with the power of choice to harvest and share such a glorious gift.
  8. Q2. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) Since Satan has blinded people’s eyes to the truth, is there any hope for them? Yes What strategies must we use to overcome spiritual blindness? Become available God either ordains or situations, events and circumstances after which He gives us the opportunity to be used. The choice s ours, will we implement the attributes of Christ at these times or will we choose not to. Most people when they say that they want to be used by God, most are really saying they want to speak, teach or have the results that some did in the Scriptures. Such as upon laying hands and the people were healed of the infirmity which hindered them. I believe that the same happening that are written in the Scriptures can happen in our day, I believe that they do happen in our day. What we as Christian have to do is be available when He calls, begin ready means adhering to the Holy Spirit, not taking advantage of being justified, walking earnestly in the process of sanctification. When we do as He tell us to do, He'll do the rest according to His Will. If the person is to be healed He will heal it is not us. The healing what He deemed needed may have been Spiritual where as we may have thought that it did not occur because the person physically is in the same state. As a Christian is being used the Fruit of the Spirit should be evident. As we move as Christ did then spiritual blindness can be removed. How many people are likely to find Christ without intercessory prayer? I can't really say, God can do how He pleases to do with or without prayers, however His character according to the Scriptures indicates that He use people as a vehicle to do His work more so than not. Nonetheless when He called Abram out of darkness I cannot find a passage of Scripture associated whereby people prayed an intercessory prayer nor can I in regards to Moses.
  9. Q1. How do questionable ethics and ministry practices hurt the work of Christ? A lot of People are influence by what they see, by the actions / behaviors of others, they are as well influenced by what others say. Questionable ethics and ministry practices questions the authenticity, especially to those whom oppose Christ. Unfortunately to those who do not seek to see beyond the people who say they are Christians it can quench the drawing of the Spirit. For those within the fellowship because these practices distort the truth it can lead Believers not only from a church but also from the Church. These practices hurt the work of Christ because they are perverted influencer, yet God allows these practices. Perhaps because He gives the freedom of choice, perhaps it is a weeding out measure, I'm not sure of either the previous statements. What I am sure of is that His perfect Will will be accomplished. That when judgment does come it will began in the house; that many are call but few are chosen; that many will say Lord didn't I and he will say depart from me I knew you not. What is Paul’s alternative in verse 2b? Paul and those with him determined to present the truth, he preached a gospel of integrity and made his appeal directly to the human conscience, that monitor which God has given to all men. "Commending ourselves to every man's conscience", anyone could look at Paul's gospel and his ministry, judge it by their own conscience, and see that it was full of integrity. They could question Paul's words or his behavior and they would find that it aligned with what he said according to the Word. I believe that Paul's desire was not only that man's conscience would find he was faithful but also that it was far more important to know that what he did was right in the sight of God as he witnessed of God.
  10. Q4. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Why is character change directly related to time deliberately spent in God’s presence? As a person willingly spend time in God's presence, because it was their desire to spend time before God, they will desire as well to please Him. As one absorbs what He impart be it from prayer, meditating, studying His Word, etc the greater capacity they will have to reflect His glory. Character change is directly related to time deliberately spent in God's presence similar to the moon and the sun relationship, they both are there however the moon reflect the sun's glory. God is the superior in our case and as we with reverence deliberately spend time before Him we gain a greater capacity to reflect His glory. What is the theological word for the process of maturing in Christ? Sanctification Have you noticed a change in the “degree of glory” you’re experiencing now compared to a few years ago? I cannot answer this question honestly, I believe that the most truthful answer would have to come from those within my environment, those that know me, those that know about me and those that I encounter. I do know that I have changed in my preception, and I am conflicted by the change that I'm in. Why or why not? Since the church I attended faithfully separated, for a year I visited a myriad of fellowships. Unfortunately this fellowships differences their personalities and their doctrines broaden my perception in a negative manner. Each believed that Christ was Lord, however some of the difference greatly differed according to the Bible. I am still a strong believer in assembling (having organized fellowship) and I have settled in at one place. I no longer attend spiritual buffets, yet that year opened my eyes. I pray without ceasing that the Lord revives me, and touch me whereby I can worship Him among the brethren as earnestly as I do when I am not among the brethren. I fully realize that there is ministry outside the four walls however, when I am within the four walls it would be wonderful at each gathering that I would experience fellowship vise repeatedly seeing the difference. I'm not blaming anyone, I'm praying that the Father would heal me! I want Him to change me and I live for that change. I want to be more like Jesus! He was great in every environment, I long to be as He was, as He is!
  11. Q3. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Moses glowed by spending time with God on Mt. Sinai, in his tent of meeting, and in the Tabernacle. How can we get a similar glow of the Spirit in our lives? If we were to look holistically at Moses, at some of his attributes, his character, at his needs, there were weighing factor. I cannot list them all, however as he appeared before God he was hungry, he sought guidance/ wisdom; at times he was broken, he sought solace / comfort; at times when he made mistakes he repented; as the people made mistakes he interceded; Moses was open (unveiled before the Lord) , humble and he received what thus said the Lord. We can have the glow that God ordains by adhering to the Holy Spirit and not our own. Some of the attributes emitting from Moses we should emulate, by doing so we can have the glow that God ordains. Yes Moses spent time before God, the time in my opinion was not only of quantity but also of quality. In what way is meditating on Scripture beholding God? Behold - to see or observe, by meditating on the Scriptures we can see His character, we can see His Will, we can see His emotions, we can see His love. By meditating on the Scriptures we stand a greater chance of living as He desires us to live; we stand a greater chance of being obedient to Him; we stand a greater chance of loving Him the way He desires to be love. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. As we meditate on the Scriptures we reflect upon Him and the ways are too many to count. Oh His love is EXTRAVAGANT! Is the low plane of Christianity in our day related to the time we spend in communion with the Lord? Low plane - level surface, in my flesh I want to say yes, our behaviors and the results of our behaviors at times do not reflect that of Christ. Some understand activities and being in building (sanctuaries) as communion with the Lord. Some attend worship service three times or more a week, yet the glow of God's presence seems to be absent in their everyday lives. I am not the judge of anyone unfortunately the Lord will say on one day to some who professed of their doings, depart from me I do not know you. My sincerest apologies if I have offended anyone, however there are some who attend a church and their behavior outside of the church does not differ from the world. Some of those people identify themselves as Christians. Equally or perhaps worse a ministry that was promoting awareness and wellness reveals that foul misconduct occurs within countless churches. It is right and a good thing to promote the awareness and also the wellness however some within their mind condemn; some that were being drawn run, some within flee vise striving to hold accountable. On the surface, in my flesh I want to say "Yes", some are too busy in the business of serving that they do not communion with the Lord. However in my spirit, hoping I am in agreement with the Spirit as I make the statement, No! My prayers are that I am not taking this verse out of content Matthew 22:14 " For many are called, but few are chosen. " The chosen are those who choose to accept. Those that receive / accept will chose to abide, if they should fall or stumble they will repent. Those whom abide by His grace will not chose to remain outside of communion with Him for He is the Source, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Revelations 17:14 They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers." These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. (KJV) What is God leading you to do to increase your glow? Perhaps to trust Him more and to pray more fervently! To obey more and not give in to flesh!
  12. Q2. (2 Corinthians 3:16-17) Why is the Holy Spirit essential to help people see truth clearly and be able to grasp it? One person can pant, and another can water but the Lord is the one who gives increase. God uses people often as witnesses however it is the Holy Spirit that draws a person, and also empower then with a measure of faith to believe as they yield to the Spirit and surrender of Self. The Holy Spirit takes away spiritual blindness and imparts light as we draw closer to the Light. What enables people to come to Christ at all? A measure of faith and that faith being in and of Christ, John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. What kind of freedom does the Spirit give us when we become Christians? John 8:31-37 Jesus said, " to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in my Word", that they would know the truth, and that truth would set them. Because of this belief and abiding a Christian is free from bondage to sin and condemnation. As it relates to 2nd Corinthians we as Christians have freedom from the scrutiny of the Ceremonial Laws there is not a work that anyone can do that will save them (2nd Timothy 1:9; Galatians 2:16). As a Christian we are free from the ministration of the letter of the law this includes the Moral and Civil law; the administering penalty often was death. However there is a standard for judgment regardless how we slice the Scriptures, God is Just. Again no one is saved by or because works nor are we as Christians above the Moral Law or Civil laws as they are applicable to the culture we live in. We are saved by GRACE through FAITH yet we do not have a license to sin. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known ****, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Galatians 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. The goats and the sheep of Matthew 25 have one measure of judgment given, of the three parables given neither of the three individually gives a complete /exhaustive depiction as to our being totally prepared nor the grounds for the rewards received (good or bad). Instead each establishes one part of the whole word picture. I make mention of the sheep and goats because there is a work that does not save but has weighing consequences. The sheep were those on the right, they were in step with God Will, being so this conveys they believed in and of Him and were obedient. However the combination of faith and works does not cause one to be saved (eternal salvation.) Works are a RESULT of a Believer being saved, not a CONDITION for it. The relationship between faith and works is that works are the result of faith. True faith produces good works, good works are the result faith, not a contributing factor to salvation. There is a work that God desires of those who believe: Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 2nd Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Titus 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
  13. Q1. (2 Corinthians 3:7-11) Why did Moses’ face glow? It was God's Will that Moses' face would glow. Truthfully any other explanation would be conjecture, the Bible does not reveal why, however we can speculate having several factors as a base line. Moses was God's main under shepherd for the Hebrews at the time. After fasting for 40 days and night, he as well had been in the presence of God. Others prior to Moses had communed with God, others had received guidance from God, others had prayed, communicated / talked with God. However Moses was given a task that differed from others, after communing with God His face solidifying the awe of God, the glory of God, the approval from God that Moses was chosen to lead and distribute thus say the Lord. Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? We can hypothesize and or give an opinionated response, many refer directly to 2nd Corinthians 3:13 as the reason why Moses covered his face when he was out with the people. One Commentator states, "Paul explains the real purpose of the veil: not so the shining face of Moses would be hidden, but so that the diminishing glory of his face would not be observed, - because the glory was fading." The funny thing is that there is not a reference verse where the Bible indicates such. What the Bible does state in Exodus 34:30 "And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him." Verses 31-34 informs us as to why he put the vail on and took it off, then in verse. Verse 35 "And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him." A group of writers has went as far as saying that the veil kept the people from understanding references to Christ in the Scriptures. That though doesn't go well with messianic prophesy that emitted from the mouth of Moses, one such prophesy is proclaimed in the Law (Deuteronomy 18:15, 18). Moses the ordained leader to lead these people in the natural, he was as well a prophet. He made mistakes but for the most part he was obedient unto the Lord. He did not intentionally shield anything going against Gods' Will, scripture as well tells us that he was meek. For Moses to shield his face for any other reason would be contrary to his character. Verses 30-35 informs us that Moses face shoned, that he placed and removed a vail that covered his face, the people saw his face as it shoned and that they were afraid. Side bar: Regarding 2nd Corinthians 3:13 Also, so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing splendor which had been upon it. It is of my strong opinion that Paul was not accusing Moses of any mal-intent, he made every effort to operate with clarity (1:13; 11:6) and openness (3:3; 5:11-12) toward the Corinthians. Paul speaks of the character and the administration of the New Covenant over the old. Paul calls this ministry a hope because its full splendor is yet to be seen. Not as Moses Paul references Exodus 34:31-35, not so much that what Moses experience was temporary, we all have a renewing that occurs if we were to be honest. When Paul says " that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: " He is not talking specifically about Moses face nor the vail, they could not see beyond the letter of the Law, they could not see the Spirit of the law. Paul made every effort to speak clear and open to the Corinthians, what was abolished? righteous standards that God would use as guidance or the ministration associated with sanctification. Within verse 15 it says, "which vail is done away in Christ." Jesus the Christ is the sacrifice of all sacrifices, therefore there was no longer a need for physical oblations. Works never was nor will be the actions that saves. Maintaining the Decalogue does not save, however you will not find in the writing of Paul once where he says a person no longer has to honor God or that it is OK to sin against your brethren do to the liberty of the law. God has a standard in which He will judge by and we as Believers need a reference of guidance. The glory on the face of Moses face was not his nonetheless it gave way to the face of Christ functioning in a different capacity of the Godhead. Our sufficient is in Christ and what He has done however we still need to adhere to His guidance. How will it be known that we are His? love is an action word! Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? It was not Gods' Will, Moses was chosen to lead a group of people that had not only been in physical bondage but spiritual bondage as well. They also had been negatively spiritually influenced. Just as Moses was associated with various miracles to include the parting of the Red Sea, his face shone d as according to God's Will for the times that it did. All reaffirmed that God was with Moses, that Moses was not self-willed We can use the contextual understanding from Exodus 20:18-21 and others passages of scripture to confirm that most of the people did not have the same relationship as Moses did with God, however the bottom line is that it was not God's Will for others face to glow. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? The spread of God's glory in my opinion in Moses time and our has not changed much, there is nothing new under the sun. There were some who were in awe when God's glory was revealed the same applies today. Some of the Egyptians were in awe and some were angered, some may have abandoned their belief in gods and some may have remained steadfast in their beliefs of gods. The Scriptures tell us that Moses' face was radiant after consecrating himself and spending time with God. Moses did not initially know that his face shoned however upon returning among the people, they could clearly see that he had been with God. Even though our face may not physically light up after we have spent time with God,[ as we commune with God, as we communicate with God (praying, listening, meditating, reading / studying our Bibles)] as we yield our lives unto Him, in His presence so many wonderful things can happen that can have such a effect upon our lives that people will know not only that we have been with God, but also that we are His.
  14. Q4. (2 Corinthians 3:6a) Why is a Christian's spiritual health so closely related to his or her involvement in ministry? It has been said when someone is spiritually healthy they continue in the process of growth; moment by moment they are being strengthened; they in obedience accepts / receive guidance from God, His under shepherds as they lead according to His Will; they strive to be in God's perfect Will, etc... To be spiritually unhealthy is the opposite the person may straddle the fence on issues such as being honest (lying, cheating, stealing , gossip {tale-bearing / back biting}); if the serve others they do so unwillingly ; in essence they do not strive to be a good steward unto the Lord. In my opinion a Christian's spiritual health determines their involvement in ministry, the use of all that God has ordained or allowed them to use or have at their disposal. What are the consequences of dropping out of church --for the believer? Dropping out of a church for a Believer can have a effect on the Believer and the church house where they previously assembled. For the individual if they seek isolation for reasons other than as Christ did, if they feed on things of evil influence it can be to their determent spiritually and maybe even physically. They may not only become spiritually unhealthy, they may be emotionally unhealthy. Which could lead to becoming mentally and physically unhealthy. Even worse they may attempt to shorten their appointed time. etc... For the church house there will be an absence of the service, the gifts, the talents, witness, a short fall in the community and support from the individual. etc... For Christ's Kingdom? "Now the church is not wood and stone, but the company of people who believe in Christ." Martin Luther Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The Church will stand, however the influence of Christ Kingdom can be influenced because of man and our limited understanding.
  15. I don't know where you live and I am hoping that I am misreading your reason for not assembling with the brethren, if what you have said pertains to you. If it does I am praying with you in hopes that the Holy Spirit leads you to a place where you can be embraced in the beauty of saints assembling together. I agree whole heartily with Pastor Ralph, "Every church has flaws, since it is made up of flawed people, but you must be part of a church because it an integral part of Jesus' strategy to minister to his people and to the world. If you're out of regular fellowship with a church --unless you're physically unable to attend --it's time to reconsider!"
  16. Q3. (2 Corinthians 3:4-6) What is the balance between the need for training in ministry (either in the local church or in schools) and personal submission to the Spirit of God? The balance is that both are needed, Jesus taught some whom were called unlearned (Acts 4:13) . Those whom he taught did not have the same credentials and the religious leaders, however " they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." These men were taught as they implemented what they had been taught the greatest success was achieved as they submitted to Holy Spirit. The Pharisees were deemed as trained, Joseph of Arimathaea, Nicodemus, and the other Pharisees that came to Christ they had professional knowledge, their knowledge had a greater likeness relating to God as their ppersonal / intimate relationship with Christ grew. The balance is that both are needed , submission to the Spirit helps us to keep our spirit's under submission thereby we use the knowledge according to the Spirit's leading. The Bible was not given to increase our knowledge but to change our lives. D.L. Moody Are you able to "listen to the Spirit's voice" in your own life? Yes, I think that any person who have surrendered their self to Christ can. However I must confess that I have at times listened to Self, what it wants over the Spirit's voice. I have at times saw the way of escape and yet listened carnally to Self. I'm so thankful that He remains faithful even when I am not, I'm so grateful that He is merciful, and extends His mercy. Sometimes the little foxes besets, however when I come to myself, I return to Him, I thank Him because I can come before Him in repentance, that I can repent and I pray for strength and empowerment. Paul never said that the Corinthians were not Christians, he did however reveal their carnality (that they had problems. I like as well that he said as the once were, as I once was. . Why would this ability be so important in being a competent minister? He who have an ear let him hear, listening and hearing the Spirit's voice allows the minister to be competent. They will then be in the Will of God, and not in their own will.
  17. Q2. (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) In what sense are we "living letters" ? We are living letter in the sense that people read us, our attitudes, our actions, our behavior, what we say, the motives behind what we say and do. The way we conduct ourselves gives those around us a perceived picture. This perceived picture can reflect the Lord and His character positively, unfortunately we can also project misinterpretations as well. In what way can people "read us" ? Because people do not have the ability to read our minds, they through observation read us by what we do or say. Some are more observant than others they can gain a greater perspective from how we say what we say and also gain insight from our body language. Why is it so important to be authentic, not phony, in our lives? Hypocrisy fragrance has strength as well. it has a smell that's not pleasing. It is important to the genuine, authentic to live by the Word, the Character and values of God. Where by an onlooker can see Christ as He lives within us. We must as children of God adhere to the Holy Spirit's leading so that we as reflective lights reflect Him, so that we as salt will not be too salty. It is important to be authentic as Believers so that "so that God's Spirit may flow unimpeded and uncontaminated through us to touch others". What happens when people "read" something in you that they admire and mention it to you? It let's know that three people are blessed, the Father is blessed as I praise Him, the person is blessed as I allowed the Holy Spirit to use me and I am blessed to have been used in a positive manner. I feel joy on the inside, acknowledge God in some manner and often the person too. letting them know that they blessed me as well. How might you respond appropriately? The response vary dependent on the comment, nonetheless it is always my desire to respond in a manner that would not displease God.
  18. Q1. (2 Corinthians 2:14-16a) In what sense is knowing God fragrant to people who are open to God? Fragrant -sweet smelling - pleasing - alluring, when a Believer's relationship is an intimate relationship with God there are simply some beautiful aspects that are revealed. To those who are open to God they are receptive to the things of God therefore fragrant of God is pleasing to them as well. I personally love testimonies where the power of God was revealed. It could have manifested through healing, a financial blessing, comfort or simply how the Spirit empowered someone to behave in a difficult situation. In what way is this fragrance repugnant to people who are closed to God? It is repugnant to people who are closed to God when hypocrisy is amidst, when the motives are not genuine; when evil has a stronger influence; when the person is filled with or full of Self; when they've experienced a great hurt; as they reject the Spirit because of their belief, intelligence or pride. Have you suppressed your "fragrance" because some people are allergic to Christian perfume? My fragrance in relation to God knowingly I can't say that I have suppressed it, however knowing people I know that I have. In the marketplace (work or activities outside of a church house) my actions, behavior and speak are wholesome and some whom I encounter deem me as a good person. Some will acknowledge and or see the Christ in me. Often times depending on whom I am taking with or to I do not name the Name Jesus. I may say I thank Him, or He is good, or there is Somebody Greater, being that I do not say Lord or Jesus, if they are blind they may not smell His fragrance emitting from me. Some may simply see me a good person, however as they come to know more about me, many have come to know that I am His. If so, how can you regain the fragrance of Christ's gospel? As for myself and to anyone who feel that they have suppressed their fragrance relating to God reengage in the relationship. I know many people that are married but not engaged in the marriage. When dating even an onlooker could see their passion, however after years in the marriage it would take an archeologist to discover it. We need to commune with Him, talk with Him and more importantly listen to Him. The Holy Spirit will empower us according to His leading. Every Christian doesn't not have to imitate Peter or Paul as they did Christ, some personalities may align more to Andrew's, Mary's or Barnabas as they followed Christ. If we feel that we have suppressed our fragrance relating to Christ we should pray that whatever cause us to do so that He would remove. After which believe in faith what He does and Walk.
  19. Q4. (2 Corinthians 2:10-11) How does Satan take advantage of our unforgiveness? By our agreeing with the influence of his spirit more so than God's. Satan takes advantage of our holding onto unforgiveness by way of our carnal thinking. Just as Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 10:3 "We do live in the world. But we don't fight in the same way that the world fights." Satan is the prince of the air he exist in the world yet he doesn't fight with carnal weaponry. He can use his influence whereby we will use carnal weapons. This thing unforgiveness is powerful, a powerful spiritual antecedent. When we are cut we bleed just as a non-Christian however we must die to flesh. When a Christian is punched, kicked or reviled they feel pain just as a non-Christian. Yes there may be a grieving period however being in relationship with Christ gives us access to the Healer. When / if a child of God hold onto unforgiveness it prevents more things from occurring than realized. It also gives life to more things than realized on the surface and as well beneath the surface. We allow him to have this advantage!! We allow him to farther infect us with this deadly venom vise seeking the cure. What are the symptoms in our own heart of unforgiveness? Too many to mention (emotional and mental torment), the opposite of forgiveness. Dwelling on the cause; negative thoughts of the person(s) that hurt you; in ability to function if the person that hurt you enters the room or someone mentions their name; bitterness; depression; Self-Harm; Self-Seclusion / negative isolation; acting out / attention seeking; inability to recognize God's Presence because we are so focused on the unforgiveness and or the symptoms etc... According to Matthew 6:14-15, how does holding unforgiveness hurt our spiritual lives? It prevents one from being in the Will of God, it allows one to be disobedient, it is sometimes so subtle that the person chooses not to recognize it, because they justify it do to the infliction caused. It hurts our spiritual lives because they would not be aligned with the Spirit. Unforgiveness can prevent us from being salt, light, and fruitful spiritually, Jesus commanded us to love one another John 15:12, if a child of God does not forgive does it reflect love or does it convey disobedience to Christ. Just as in the text mentioned within the question Mark 11:24-25 lets us know that unforgiveness can have a weighing factor not only on our trespasses being forgiven but also with the answering of our prayers. This effects our spiritual lives greatly and can cause some possibly to stray. Holding onto unforgiveness can defile a person as well according to Hebrews 12:15, being defile and remaining in a defiled state certainly will hurt our spiritual lives as it relates to God. What would you have to do to really let go of your resentment and give it to God? I love something Corrie Ten Boone said, when she met some of the solider from the concentration camp. one solider asked for forgiveness after hearing the Word of God, she within herself was not moved to forgive him, she turned it over to God. We like wise should, must do so. Believe that His grace is sufficient! Trust and submit to HIM! The person(s) that hurt us more than likely sinned, however if we allowed the unforgiveness to become resentment we are in sin therefore repent, seek farther guidance, give all to Jesus and let God heal the hurt. Afterwards Walk, walk as He will lead.
  20. Q3. (2 Corinthians 2:9) How does obedience to servant leaders help the church of Jesus Christ? Obedience to Servant Leaders help the Church of Jesus Christ mainly because all are within the Will of God. Thereby we the servants become the vehicle, the hands within the earth accomplishing what God desires us to do. Just as those called out in the Old Testament were a great witness to God when they were in His Will so will we. Just as those in the New Testament were a great witness when they were in His Will so will we. The culture has changed however not the agenda. Love God, love people. How does obedience to self-serving leaders hurt the church? Obedience to a self-serving leader hurts the church because the leader is not in the Will of God. All that is accomplished not being in the Will of God is of dead works. King Saul gives us a good example, unfortunately he remained king for a great period of time after he and the Spirit no longer communed. Being obedient to self-serving leaders promote their spirit, their will therefore God's Will isn't being carried out. The Church is a body, these whom do according to these spirits places a burden The Church. The Body can still function however being hurt / injured / damaged it cannot function as it was designed to. There can be leadership that fits any of these mentioned in this lesson by a self-serving leader. They can be a great leader and even effective, Ezekiel 34:2-6, gives an example. However just as these shepherds were out of the Will of God so are self-serving leaders who say they are followers of Christ. It hurts the people, it creates potential harms, it does not align with God's Will. Judgment begins in the house this leader if they do not turn from their self-serving ways will not met Christ in peace. Side bar: In essence they really are what as perceived as a part of the Church, in our eyes, in the eyes of many. However one day the Lord will say depart from me I knew you not. hurts Are you obedient to those whom God has placed over you in the Lord? To the best of my ability I make efforts to be obedient. When / if I am aware or made aware that I was not I repent and ask for forgiveness. Why? As they follow Christ I will follow them, as they have aligned with God's Word without manipulation I have aligned with them. Why not? When I have known that something did not align with the Word of God, nor the Spirit's intent I have privately talked with the leader, and if the Spirit did not mediate whereby there was a clearer understanding to have us agree I simply acknowledge that I could not do the thing which was asked. What is the relationship between obedience and church unity? God is not the author of confusion, if there is not any obedience that would greatly hinder unity. The relationship is that it can foster harmonically relationships, it building community, it is pleasing to God. Some place heavy emphasis on the word love, if everybody just love, then we will have joy and peace. I don't disagree with that thought however to love God is to obey Him, to obey Him is to serve Him. Every member of the Church is a servant, that is to include church house leaders.
  21. Q2. (2 Corinthians 1:24) What does it mean to “lord it over” someone? (KJV) Not that we have dominion over your faith; (YLT) not that we are lords over your faith, Paul is simply acknowledging that no one has authority to control a person's belief, to include himself although he is an apostle, nor his fellow laborers. Although Paul and those in authority have the authority to command obedience and to influence belief truly they could not make them believe, just as a person cannot make someone love them. Paul nor any man cannot give or produce in man's heart faith in Christ; this faith is the gift of God; of which Christ is not only the object, but the author; it is obtain and maintained by, of and through the operation of the Spirit. Paul here employs / appeals to reason, he as well within this verse shares his reasoning, ("for by faith you stand", " for it is by faith that you stand "). He would not attempt to lord it authority over their faith; or to exercise dominion over them. They were to believe not so much in Paul or his fellow laborers but in God, in the Gospel. Paul gave them under authority what he was authorized to give in doing so they were to receive the Gospel as coming from Him, and ye stand in and by that faith. Thus far they had stood by faith and with applied reason they could continue to stand. To lord it over someone in my opinion is to abuse or misuse an authoritative position or power of authority. To ensure that those subordinate understand you have authority / power over them and that they have no say in the decision making. What is the balance between (1) good, strong leadership, (2) micromanaging, and (3) a complete laissez-faire approach to leadership? The perimeters placed on this question makes it challenging to answer, it is unfortunate that we all can be GREAT arm chair quarterbacks. Although any response will be an opinion, my opinion is that the style for the moment which allows the most productive and effective results. I am not suggestion that the person of charge oscillate or vacillate each time they have to make a decision. What I am suggesting is that the person of charge learn to know those whom are under their chare. Some people require less guidance, some require more, some require less hand on, some require less. We all learn in one or three manner, seeing, hearing, doing (some with a combination). Just as we all potentially learn differently we all receive things differently. I have some friends who are very detailed and therefore required great details, on the other hand I have some require little instruction, they feel insulted if you give great detail or aided instruction. Sometimes a leader needs to be authoritative and sometimes they need to be persuasive, the two depends on the situation, circumstances just as much as it does the individual(s). What are the dangers of an authoritative leadership style? The dangers are too many to account for, especially because many do not like being told what to do. Often leadership styles reflect the character of the leader, however sometime it is reflective of the group (the composition of the group and the length of time the group has been together). Having said that, there are sometimes when it would warrant a leader to inflect an authoritative style. Which of the 3 styles of leadership mentioned in these set of questions is right? Has to be dependent on the leaders personality and ability, the current situation (of the group) and the task required. A good leader uses all three styles, depending on what forces (factors = time, level of relationship, intelligence, task at hand, results desired, past results, etc..) are involved between the followers, the leader, and the situation. Although good leaders use all three styles, with one of them normally dominant, extremes in either can be detrimental, bad leaders tend to stick with one style. What are the dangers of a weak leadership style? Some believe the latter mentioned laissez-faireto be a form of weak leadership. However I would beg to differ, in my last sales like position Coaching was strongly encouraged. In this style, the leader allows the follower / employees to make the decisions. However, the leader is still responsible for the decisions that are made and the outcome. This is used when followers / employees are able to analyze the situation and determine what needs to be done and how to do it. This is not a style to use so that you can blame others when things go wrong, rather this is a style to be used when you fully trust and confidence in the people in the leaders charge. One should not be afraid to use this style, however if when used it should be done wisely! Each of the leadership styles mentioned in this lesson has advantages and dangers (disadvantages) The dangers of weak leadership are too many to list. As it relates to Christians being lead the greatest danger is that it gives the devil a foothold. If the leader is not in the Will of God as they lead they can influence to people to as well be out of God's Will. Neither will be salt, light nor a witness that will be pleasing to God. Weak leadership can affect ability, effectiveness, belief etc...
  22. Q1. (2 Corinthians 1:21b-22) According to this verse, what does the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signify? It signifies / indicates, a strong indication of the Holy Spirit's presences in our lives is being influenced by Him, not it. This influence conveyed is not prompted by music nor the uttering or unction of / from others. Abiding / adhering to the Holy Spirit establishes a person as being consecrated (Holy), or set apart to the service of God by the Holy Spirit to / for the service of God. 1st John 2:20, 2:27 as a person is anointed by the Holy Spirit the significance is that they are under His influence, not their own or under the influence of Self a.k.a. flesh. Adherence, obedience to the Holy Spirit allows / empowers us to be in His Will, thereby by not only do we have an opportunity to be in His Will accomplishing His agenda, we also have the opportunity to communes with the Father. How does the Spirit unite us with God? By faith, Jesus the Christ is the way, being that He in person no longer dwell in the earth, He left the Comforter to minister to those that believe. When we received Jesus as Savior and Lord the Holy Spirit began to dwell within us. As we abide with Him we are united with Him. Honoring His presence in our lives gives indications that we are His. (Romans 8:9 ISV) You, however, are not under the control of the human nature but under the control of the Spirit, since God's Spirit lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of the Messiah, he does not belong to Him. (KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. What is the promise of future blessing inherent in the Spirit’s presence? Inherent = intrinsic, natural, inborn Through the Comforter a.k.a. Christ Jesus Him we establish that we are His. Upon accepting, receiving Him we are justified. As we live, move and have our being we are being sanctified. By grace through faith upon being in His presence we who do not draw back will be glorified. There are many parables that convey future blessing, the three that I'd like to reference are spoken in the same chapter. In Matthew 24 Jesus said that He would return, be ready, watch, and pray. In Matthew 25 we have three examples where the Spirit of His guidance was not carried out. These examples are where people are in their everyday lives, of the first five did not use wisdom, of the second one of His servant was lazy and disobedient; of the third parable the goats were indifferent and did not provide service. How does these three parables have anything to do with the Spirit. The three are One, they simply have different functions, the Spirit is not an it, the Holy Spirit is He. He lives within those who believe as those who believe allow, or better surrender to His Will. Surrendering to His Will affords Him to be seen in us. Upon glorification the union will be wonderful, the betroth will have been successful, at that time we shall see Him face to face and will be like Him in character with the added promise of spending eternity with Him.
  23. Q3. (2nd Corinthians 1:10-11) Why does Paul ask people to pray for him? The truth be told we can only speculate, having said that nonetheless because this has been a practice from his ancestors. Abraham, Moses, David, Samuel, Hezekiah, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel just to mention a few. Many automatically recall Abrahams intercessory prayer on behalf of Lot, (Sodom & Gomorrah), however I love the prayer Daniel prayed (Daniel chapter 9), for me it is model for intercessory prayer. Jesus prayed intercessory prayers and Paul himself previously done so. He asked the people to pray because it had been guidance given from God prior to his being, he asked because he was facing a lot, under a lot of pressure. Asking others to pray for him as well encouraged him, it helps knowing that others are willing to share in your experience, it helps knowing that others are willing to sacrifice and go before the Lord on your behalf. I think Paul asked people to pray for him because it solidifies community, brethren. How do the prayers of others have an effect? FAITH, by faith, through faith, with faith. The prayers of others can affect us by giving us the confidence that others are concerned with / about what concerns us. When the prayers are genuine they require others to lay aside (at least for the moment) selfish needs or focus upon ourselves, which in turn has a togetherness effect. The prayers of others can enhance spiritual growth, it can deepen our personal relationship with God. Praying for others can help us to become more like Christ; as we pray for others to become strengthen, we as well can be strengthened. In terms of the prayers being answered, I believe that every prayer prayed to God is heard and answered. I believe that the answers are not always yes as we deem the yes should be. I believe that the answers are not always according to our desire(s) / will. The prayers, be they collaborative / intercessory or individual, they are not always answered the way we desire. Sometimes prayers to God are answered favorable, sometime not so; sometimes they answer is delayed just as the example is told in the book of Daniel. If the prayers of many are not according to His Will, will these prayers influence God? I do not think so! We in my opinion have it twisted, we cannot place a mandate on God and because we petition something He should respond according to our desire(s). He sets the guideline, He changes not, his motives are pure ours sometimes are based from circumstances and or our emotions. I certainly have confidence that "Where two or three come together in His Name, He is in the midst" (Matthew 18:19-20) however faith and His Will have a weighing factor. What happened in your life that has helped you enter into a ministry of intercessory prayer? Nothing specific has occurred in my life that has helped or caused me to enter into a ministry of intercessory prayer. Since becoming a Christian I have believed in this principle, since rededicating my life to Christ I continue to believe in this principle; as I live knowing of and about Christ Jesus I believe and practice this principle.
  24. Q2. (2nd Corinthians 1:9-10) How does facing a harrowing crisis help us grow in the Lord? For those who remain in Christ it can help them to draw closer to Him. During a time faced with a harrowing crisis as we trust we rely less on our own understandings, will, strength, talents ability and even others. Although God may use others in the process when the person remains in Christ face a traumatic crisis they can grow as they place their faith in the Lord, as they commune with Him, as they receive and gain an understanding of His guidance. We must learn that every petition we put forth is not a mandate to God, we must learn that within the trial, the tribulation and beyond the trial, the tribulation there is hope. For example if the traumatic crisis faced with is a terminal disease, if God heals on this side of heaven GREAT, given Him glory, if He strengthens until we rest yet glorify Him. If we should past have confidence that the healing did occur for in His glorious presence when we will be like Him there will not be any sickness How has a crisis helped your spiritual life? Crisis have help me to seek Him more earnestly, they have help me to rely less upon my own when encountered. As I live I realize that I will encounter more crisis's, and my prayer is that I will seek the Lords help, guidance and strength more so than my own as I encounter them. Upon transitioning from the military after 20 plus years seeking employment, as I did all the things that I knew to do, dotting the I's and crossing the lines, after many interviews I could not understand why I had not been extended an offer. Although I was not ill in the sense of having a terminal disease, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and even physically I was despondent. After exhausting my talents and abilities I turned to man without seeking God, sure I prayed however I really did seek His Face. After surrendering to Him, I did not get a job immediately, however I did have peace of mind, I was at peace. Spiritually I matured in many ways during this growth period. What is the value of learning not to rely on ourselves? The value is Spiritual growth! Intimate relational growth with the Lord. What does this do to our pride? Pride can be a tricky entity when truly looked upon. Encountering a harrowing crisis, relying upon God during this encounter can help us not to be as prideful. However unfortunately it may exist in another area of our lives. Because pride is one of the things that God hates, we must when we recognize that pride has reared its head seek humility through and in Christ. Stubbornness is a form of pride, we may successfully have turn over the traumatic crisis and yet live with some stubborn everyday behaviors. How does this improve our effectiveness as God's servants? It improves our effectiveness in twofold: one being that as others witness how we handle to harrowing crisis, if we do so leaning upon the Lord, the experience can become a beacon of light. We can as well be salt of the earth as well. Secondly it can also strengthen our walk, our relationship in Christ.
  25. Q1. (2nd Corinthians 1:3-7) What kind of comfort do you receive from your faith in God? The comfort I receive from having faith in God, is that He is ALL, all wise, all knowing, ever faithful even when I am not, He's ever present; that He is loving, kind and patient. That He is available even when I don't understand that He is; that He is merciful and just. He helps, allows, give me PEACE of mind even when things are not optimal. From your personal daily relationship with God? From my daily, as I live move and exist He comforts me as I exhibits Jonah like traits, He comforts me as He encourages me during my thinking of Self to striving to align to His WIll. How might you share the blessing of this kind of comfort with a friend or relative who is currently suffering? Sometimes as they see the motive behind acts that I may conduct, when that observe my behavior. Sometimes through kind gestures and or by what I say. Sometimes by sharing experiences that I have had. What words of comfort can you bring to others? Words as the Spirit bring to remembrance, words that the Spirit gives me; Words with the intent to edify. The exact words would be dependent on the person and the circumstances. Sometimes just listening, genuinely listening can be empathetic, sympatric and or what is needed.
