  1. The souls are under the alter. Their presence there signifies that they've stayed close to the church. They were martyred for being faithful and for their testimony. They ask for vengeance because the people who killed them were trying to get rid of Christianity, not them personally. Yes, it is a Christian prayer...asking for victory over evil. The white robe represents being washed clean by Jesus' atoning blood. We have to be patient and let God do His work before we can have the victory.
  2. The Lamb broke the first seal on the scroll. It is directed at people's sin and rebellion. Yes, it is just.
  3. The Father and Jesus Christ are one. Jesus is the son of God. It is through Jesus Christ, that we can come to the Father.
  4. We can share in Christ's rule. Individually, we're priests, but all believers together become His kingdom.
  5. Jesus fulfilled all prophecy. He alone conquered death....and He did it for us!
  6. I must be having a very simple day. For me....I'm still trying to get the whole picture of prostrating oneself in worship. I'm just awestruck with how great He is.
  7. I can't think of anything which isn't listed already.
  8. Churches were criticized for losing their first love, becoming complacent, being luke warm, and "rubbing shoulders" with evil people. They are praised for patience, endurance, loyalty, and obedience. The 21st century church can use this as a reminder of the things it should be doing (or not doing). The church should take heed of the warnings and "wake up" so it can be prepared for Jesus coming.
  9. Churches can be a "hotbed of apathy", because community/government sometimes makes an example of churches because they don't want churches to become too powerful. Churches sometimes get too comfortable in their routine and end up doing things on "auto pilot". Churches also are afraid to take a stand and figure that there's always another church that will take a stand. There are just so many reasons that a church becomes apathetic, that it's really hard to list them all.
  10. It was so spiritually destructive, because it anesthetized them to do more and more evil. 21st century Christians struggle with dishonestly, immoral behaviors, greed (keeping up with the Jones), love of money and possessions...the list goes on. 1 Cor. 5:6 "A little leaven works through the whole......."
  11. Sexual immorality runs rampant in our culture. TV broadcasts women who are dressed indecently, almost everything has a sexual undercurrent. To go against this makes you a minority, not accepted, an outcast. It effects job possibilityies and pay. People find it easier to not "rock the boat". By not speaking out against it, and accepting it, it opens us to further moral decay. We are not supposed to be of this world, only in it.
  12. It's easy for a church to lose its first love. It can get caught up in its ministries so much, that it loses sight of WHY it began the ministries in the first place. It can end up doing all the right things for all the wrong reasons. Lack of love can show up in too much ritualism, not helping anyone outside of the congregation, etc. Churches should often re-evaluate their ministries and goals and such, (praying for guidance), to make sure they're truly doing the Lord's will. Churches should also make sure they aren't doing things just to "fit in" the community. Gee...as I type this, I realize all of this applys to each of us too....the members that make up the church!
  13. 1. Jesus walking among the lampstands is significant, because it shows that He is in the church. 2. This teaches us that the church should be centered around Jesus. 3. This teaches us that Jesus should be the center of the church.
  14. 1. The vision of Christ among the lampstands is different, because Jesus has risen to His glory. 2. The emotion this evokes in the reader is complete and total awe. 3. This is important to a balanced faith, because we must understand that He did indeed walk this earth as a man and experienced everything we do, but He is SO much more! He is our God!
  15. It is my opinion that Christians are suffering tribulation/persecution almost everywhere, including the United States. It isn't blatant, but is more insidious...one by one, Christians are losing their rights. No prayer in school, symbols of Christianity being removed from the public places in which they've been for decades...I could go on. The sad part, is that it's the minority who are taking these things away from us, because we don't speak out. The book of Revelations encourages us, in that it tells us that there will be a whole new world, where Jesus (and those who love Him) will live for all eternity. It gives us all something to look forward to...something to hope for.
  16. I have a red letter edition Bible which has verses 1:8, 1:17 and 22:12-13 in red text...Jesus being the speaker. Of the verses in Q2, verses 1:7 and 21:6 are in black text...our Father being the speaker. Nevertheless, the Father and Jesus are one. They always were and they always will be.
  17. A) The theme of testimony and witness is so important because it is a constant reminder to us that we are to stay strong in our testimony. Jesus is the "faithful witness" because he is our example. C) We are afraid to be witnesses because we are afraid of what people will think of us or how they will treat us. We don't want to be different from those around us.
  18. My name is Jane and I live in Mesa, Arizona. I am a single mother. I have a 21 year old son. I am a "returning" Christian...kind of doing a "start over". I was looking around the internet for a Bible study when I found this one on Revelations. I'm looking forward to it.
