  1. What Jesus got was no special treatment; God is the Creater of our being; and he knows and can detect when our functions requires that extra assistance to boost our performance. When we came to accept Jesus Christ, we have become equal heirs with him. Therefore God all so knowing sees when we need that extra hand and he sends his angels to help us out. Praise God. Amen... Wonderful revelation..
  2. The was pleased with Jesus. This showed that the son was obedient to his will. Our part in prayer must also repeat the submission and allow the fathers will be done in our lives. Constant prayer stregthens us and prepares us to accept that the Fathers will be done.
  3. It was the human part of Jesus that resisted, the human fear of what was to come, death. The fact that he petitioned the Father 3 times comes to show he was truly human as well. Praise the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord for the human weakness as well Amen
  4. Q1. (22:40-41, 45-46) Why did he ask his disciples to pray? So that they would not fall into temptation. What temptation did Jesus know they would be facing? In sittuations as that was ahead of them. They would be tempted to lie. What was the content of their prayer to be? Lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen. Did they actually pray this prayer diligently? I dont think so. How does the Lord's Prayer word this kind of prayer? But deliver us from evil. Why do you think Jesus wanted to be alone during his own prayer? In years to come or the times ahead his deciples were to be operating in Faith. Therefore The Lord did not want to expose his weakness; the expressions of anguish and asking for the Cup to be taken away if willed by the Father to be so.Otherwise knowing the Lords weaknesses would weaken their Faith. Wisdom was what was demonstrated here. The Lord All so knowing and being human at the same time had taken the responsibility to protect and help his deciples grow in faith, and exposing his own weaknesses was not such a Good idea for his deciples in the times ahead. Amen.
  5. What danger is Nehemiah in? Nehemiah is in Danger of lossing, his Job, possibly his life. Why does he pray quickly and silently before he answers the king? To ascertain the almighty Gods protection and favour. How does this quick "arrow prayer" relate to the four months of prayer he has just finished? The arrow prayer is a more a prayer of seeking his final assurance from God on protection and favour upon his mission and his life.
  6. Q3. (1:11) God places his children in strategic places so that he can utilise them for his purpose. Using them as vessels to facilitate what he has to do for his children, what ever they may be exposed or the sittuation they may be going through. To bless those that love and are obedient to him. These are selfless people in the likes of Esther and Daniel who thought for the welfare and well-being of their fellow men. What a wonderful piece of biblical history. God says whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me. They are prepared to take the risks in order to achieve restorative justice for the majority of their people. A lot of people succumb to bribery and tend to forget about others, once exposed to privilidge, power and benefits. Its easier to be comfortable and get on with ones lives than to take the stand as Esther and Daniel Did. God had used them not only as vessels for the deliverance of his people, but also as an outright display of obedience to his calling and purpose.
  7. What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? The Basis of Nehemiahs appeal is that the of Israel are his people and he led them out of Egypt. He appeals for the Lord to have Mercy and Restore them back to Israel. Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, 9but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.' How does he argue his case before God? 10"They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. What do we learn from this about intercession? We learn from this prayer the power of intercessory prayer. That with faith you can ask God to change his mind.
  8. Why does Nehemiah pray day and night for four months? Such is a committed man to God, and display true commitment and communicates to God his plans, supplications for his people and prepares for presenting a case to the King. But prior to that he has to present his case before God. Why does he fast and weep? Isn't that excessive? Fasting builds your spiritual mucsles. Weeping signifies the sorrow he feels for his people and his homeland. God sees the heart and acts with compassion for anyone who truly comes before him in revenence. Prayer fasting is a sign of preparadness and readiness. Develops attitude, power and confidence ( Attributes of great faith) in God and being presentable in the eyes of God. The spiritual strenght must be developed in order to tap in the sipritual realm and communicate with God. Convincing God you are truly sorry and ask for his forgiveness. Thank you
  9. What was Daniel's essential prayer? 15"Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16O Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us. Confessions of Sins of his people What are the various grounds of Daniel's appeal? Daniels Appeal 17"Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name." How did God answer the prayer (see Daniel 9:20-23)? 20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; 9:21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 9:22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. God had shown Daniel a vision for his people; what was to be done in order for deliverance to take place.
  10. Q3. (9:5) Since Daniel is such a righteous man in his generation, why does he identify himself with the sins of his people? Daniel did not commit the sins, how ever he was interceding on behalf of his people and pleaded to God for the forgiveness of his people, for their sins. He didn't commitment them. How does this compare to how Jesus sought forgiveness for his people? Jesus sought the ultimate sacrifice for the people, so that mankind might be saved by offering his own life. He died on the cross and rose again in fullfillment of the scriptures. Daniel like all humans was born of sin, where as Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit without sin. Amen
  11. Q2. (9:3-4a) What is Daniel's demeanor as he prays? How does he prepare? Why is this so important in this case? In what ways might you and I prepare for intercession? Daniel was well prepared before his intercession. He fasted and asked God for the forgiveness of his people. I think it is important for us to be well prepared, before presenting our petitions to God. Knowing all along that for some of the sins we commit we dont derserve the pardon and forgiveness. How-ever praise God for his unconditional love, mercy and grace and the blood of the unblemished lamb that has saved us. Thank you Lord, for loving me, a sinner. Amen
  12. Q1. (9:1-3) What encourages Daniel to seek God for the forgiveness and restoration of Israel to its homeland? Daniel understood that Israel was punished and scattered because of their sins, they have disobeyed God. He longed for his people to go back and berestored their homeland so that they would serve and honor God. Daniel understood also that what the prophets have said had come to pass. "'This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,' declares the LORD, 'and will make it desolate forever.'" (Jeremiah 25:11-12; see also Jeremiah 29:10; 2 Chronicles 36:20-21 and Zechariah 1:12) What trait on Daniel's part brings this encouragement to pass? Daniel was faithful and uncompromising to do what was righteous in the eyes of the lord. He prayed that Israel must be restored for the people were named after the God and for his sake, Daniel prayed for forgiveness of his people. Help me o Lord to do well in this lesson.. Amen
  13. Q4. (139:23-24) Why is this prayer of surrender to God so difficult to pray? A prayer of surrender is sometimes difficult in a sense that, in my case I asked for surrender because of my sittuations and therefore I was more or less surrending because I needed a favour. I guess I needed this to happen quickly. Volutary surrender is probably the best because it puts us in a state of really surrendering with all your heart and without pressure from sittuations. When was the first time you prayed this kind of prayer to God? I prayed a prayer of surrender on about 4 different occasions amidst my sittuations. I prayed again last night to surrender my anger, my shame, accusations and many more of my weak areas. I pray now for Gods mercy and forgivess upon me and to heal me in Jesus name. What was the result? Only time and God in his due process will heal the wounds of the many I have hurt and the hurts and anger I have been experiencing. Can a person be a genuine disciple without praying this kind of prayer? Without complete surrender a person cannot be really genuine. However God knows and sees the heart of a person, therefore the final really depends upon God to see genuineness. Praise the Lord. Amen.
  14. I was fearfully and wonderfully made. God has taken time and special interest in designing and making my being. Its awesome, from now on I must make it a commitment to honor God and endeavor to fullfill his purpose in me. Thank you lord for the knowlege that you had made me in your perfect will and plan. Thank you.
  15. Q2. (139:5, 10). In verses 5 and 10, how does God's hand touch the psalmist? Have you ever felt God's hand on you in a special way? Some two years ago my home was repossed by the Bank. They sold the house undervalue, and this year in June they came back to me by way of a writ of summons to get me to pay the residual balance. God's guiding hands helped me file a defence and a cross claim; and has caused the bank to fail to respond to my defence and cross claim in the required timeframe. Praise God, he is now leading me to file a default Judgement against the bank and damages casused to be assesed. I believe that he has done this so that justice prevails and that he is restoring me what I was devoured in Jesus mighty name. Halleluiah ... Amen.
  16. Q1. (139:7) Why do people sometimes want to flee from God? When things are not happening right, everything seems to be catching up on you. You feel that that you have to hide from Others but you are concious of the fact that God is watching you. And seems a hopeless contemplation to flee, because where you are God is there. Why do people imagine that God doesn't know what they do? Human beings can only conceal things from each other. It is frightenning to know that God knows everything we do. Nothing can be concealed from God. Have you ever felt this way? I felt this way when I am doing things when I dont want my family to know what I have done.
  17. Q4. (20:3) What is the basis on which Hezekiah asks for healing? Faith is the fundamental basis of Hezekiah's healing. On that basis he reminded God of his righteous living and as such was obedient to his commandments and God. These were reasons enough to ask God to heal him. God seing the measure of his Faith and his promise made to his servant David had to heal him, for even the untold reasons. Hezekiah's prayer: 3"Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Why is personal righteousness and holiness important in getting your prayers answered? His word says: The Prayer of the faithful availeth much. This is a matter of putting forward a case to be determined for his higest honors deliberation abd decision. A well prepared and presented case is easily dealt with achieving the desired results of the presenter. Righteous living is just like having a well prepared case. How can unrighteousness prevent answered prayer if all gifts from God are by grace anyway? God blesses according to his will. It is Gods Jurisdiction alone to answer a prayer. A prayer of an unrighteous man can be also answered.. It is entirely up to God to answer a prayer. Our is the use of faith, that was given to us by God.
  18. Q3. Why is Hezekiah's healing important for his nation? Hezekiah's healing is important to the nation especially in a time of turmoil as such was the sittion at that time. The people needed a leader with wisdom and righteousness to help get through those tough times. It was also important in that he needed to able produce or be blessed with a heir who was to succeed so that royalty was to be maintained in the Blood line of David. How did it relate to God's promises to David? God had promised David as mentioned in (2 Samuel 7:14-16). Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever". If hezekiah had died than this promise would not have been fullfilled.
  19. Q2. (19:15) How do the first two sentences of Hezekiah's prayer (verse 15) correspond to the first sentence of the Lord's Prayer? Hezekiah's Prayer: And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: "O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. The Lords Prayer: Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. In the the two instance of prayer, each is showing us the pattern which is to be prayed and we tell god that we praise him, adore him and all honor and glory be to him alone and none other. How are they important to faith? This is a confession of faith and it is important that we declare to his holiness, the almighty and the living God as a confirmation and proclamation of our faith. How are they important to God answering the prayer? It is important to pray in patterns we are shown where prayers have had an effect and that they were ansewered. God is an orderly God and he likes to see us organised with our prayers. How he answer is his business; but ours is to demonstrate faith; that which was given to us by God; that which is to be used in our conversations with God. Amen
  20. Q1. (19:14) What is the significance of Hezekiah spreading out the enemy's message before the Lord? The significance is that Hezekiah wants to show the Lord How a mere man, such as the King Of Assyria Sennacherib has insulted the Living God; That God is to be made aware that he should react or solve the problem. What is the underlying principle illustrated here? The Underlying principle is that as a child of God; and a man of God Hezekiah that every sittuation before us is Gods problem is Gods problem and that we should allow him to solve the problems. How can we apply this principle to our own lives? By making him the Lord of our lives that he must be made aware of all our sittuations and that we are totally reliant on him to decide for us in what course of action to take. When we actually believe that the battle is the Lord's to fight, then we let him be the general and just follow his orders. Yes, we're under the stress of battle, but not the stress of trying to play God. What happens when we don't apply this principle? We are trying to solve Gods problems for God. Think of the pressure we take upon ourselves when we try to be the general in God's battles. We get discouraged. We give up. We fold our tents and go home. We can't handle it.
  21. Q4. Why is a person's attitude with regard to giving related to that person's attitude towards praise? Why does an attitude of possessiveness with regards to giving get in the way of worship? "Willing" and "freely" (NIV) in verse 9 both translate the verb n
  22. Q3. Verses 11 and 12 both attribute various characteristics to God, such as glory, honor, and might. How might you begin to mention God's greatness in your own prayers? Father you are awesome, you are the most high God and there is no other God like you. Your are the Most powerful God; the Creator and giver of life. Blessed be your name on most high; blessed is your holy name; God of power and might. Where is this kind of praise found by example in the Lord's Prayer? Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. What are your favorite songs that point to God's greatness? Holy Holy Holy Lord are you God Almighty. Holy is the lamb that was slain. For thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory.
  23. Q2. In what way does praise exalt God? Praise lifts God up, exalts him above all authority, Rulers and leaders ects. Why should we exalt God? God is to be exalted in praise and a demonstration of our faith and know that God is the Centre of our being, he is the reason for our existense and deserves to be praised. Man with the little he does for his fellowman is praised; but God deserves more because he is the mover of the mountains and calms the storms in our lives. God alone does more for every single human being on earth: God gives life which no one else can; etc.. all this attributes are the but some of the reasons for God our Father to be exalted. What does this exaltation do in us? It gives us the Spiritual submission to his greatness, power of love and self control; which the Holy spirit; who is the helper manifests to us and we draw near to his presence by praising God; worshiping God and exalting God. What does it say about us? God also exalts those that exalt him. Thank you Holy Spirit
  24. Prayers of Praise are a blessing to God; God likes to be praised by his children in spirit and in truth. Giving God the best from the Heart. The more we give God our praises, he blesses us in return. A prayer without a blessing is like a cold request; with out any consideration to the Maker; who must be blessed in order for a return of his blessings, 1. Healing 2. Prosperity, 3. Restoration 4. Relationship with God etc. God deserves to be praised; because he blesses unconditionally, in our ignorance we may haven taken his blessings for Granted; Now that we have come to know him; we must acknowledge his blessings of Grace at all times and bless his Holy Name always. Isiah 65:1
  25. Q4. What does it mean to have a broken heart and spirit? Being truly sorry and repentful for the sins we have comitted. Really serious and aware that you have sinned against God. Why is this essential in the prayer for pardon? Until our hearts break with sorrow at our sin, we are not quite ready for forgiveness. In what sense is this a "sacrifice"? Because this is the highest sacrifice anyone can offer in our human form. And because God sees right through the heart he would know when the the is really broken and that you are trully repentful.. Why do we tend to resist a "broken and contrite heart" in ourselves? In most cases we are too busy worrying about our sins rather than being sorry because we have severed our relationship with God. We have Injured his reputation with our sins.
